The help you may need
Hi. I've also not been in here for long but, coincidentially, I logged in today, with the sole goal of closing my account with a little edit on my userpage. You're lucky. Now, instead of replying to you in my talk page, I decided to post the answer here, since you may have already given up on checking my talk page after 9 days. So, right now I have 5 suggestions for you:
* Look at the page for your contributions and click on the "hist" button regarding the pages you edited this week. I have undone or improved many of them, and what I ask you is to carefully analyze both those corrections (with the "prev" button) and the summaries I left behind for some of them, to see what you've got to improve. And remember: in many fields, specially in glitches, not everything is what it looks like - you'll understand what I mean once you carry out what I'm telling you now.
* Take a deep breath and some time off to read the Manual of style. It will be worth to do.
* Assuming you´ve still not stumbled upon it, you might want to, as a beginner, guide yourself with Project GlitchDex.
* If you want to do some direct research on glitch pokémon, just use a ROM and perform the glitches. And maybe see the info at other pages, like GlitchCity.
* Last but not least, while I advise you to keep on posting your immediate doubts here (ok, I'm not planning to leave bulbapedia soon), you might, in a longer term, begin your transition to users like G50 or SnorlaxMonster, as you, after dominating the basics, begin to grasp some more advanced fields, while feeling you are more directly inside the job.
So, as I said, you can post immediate doubts here. Keep on considering all the advice anyone gives you. For now, good luck. Welcome to Bulbapedia, Racerjames200!
Bulbapedia bulb.png

By creating your account you are now able to edit pages, join discussions, and expand the community-driven Pokémon encyclopedia. Before you jump in, here are some ground rules:

  • Be nice to everyone. It's in the code of conduct.
  • Make good edits. Preview them before you save to make sure they're perfect the first time around.
  • Use wikicode and link templates when adding content to a page.
  • Use proper grammar and spelling, and read the manual of style.
  • You can't create a userpage until you've added to the encyclopedia. It's a privilege. See the userspace policy.
  • Use talk pages to resolve editing disputes. Don't "edit war," or constantly re-edit/undo the same thing on a page.
  • If you have a question about something, be proactive. Take a look at our FAQ. If you're still stuck, ask for help. The staff won't bite.
  • Sign all talk page posts with four tildes (~~~~). This will turn into your name and the time you wrote the comment.
  • For more handy links, see the welcome portal.
Thank you, and have a good time editing here!

The Preview Button

Instead of editing a page several times in a row, try using the preview button to make sure your edit looks the way you want it to. It's right next to the Save Changes button. Please try it out, so as not to clog up the Recent Changes. Thanks! --Masatoshitalk 20:27, 30 June 2013 (UTC)

Edits to glitch pokémon pages

Please... use the preview button and only make edits if you really think they will make the article better. Follow the conventions - they must be there for some reason. I'm tired now and I'm still working. Besides, you're not the first user new at this who I started worrying about. So I won't tell you much things already; just this: there's no problem in slowing down and trying to learn from the others, while making less significant edits. Then you should gradually start making bigger ones. Believe me: many good users, including most of the staff (or all of it) have started like this. Why don't you do it to? Thanks.

PS If you're doing all of this just to be autoconfirmed, please take the following into consideration: altough the number of edits is secret, you've certainly surpassed it. The other requirement is a (also secret) number of days. There shouldn't be many left. TheOriginalOne 17:56, 5 July 2013 (UTC)
Also, don't make tests for new pages on their talk pages (and again, I see you need to practice before you start making new pages, as your style is still informal). If you want to test a page, do it on a backup on your computer, or (only if you are autoconfirmed) on a separate part of your userspace (i.e. User:Racerjames200/ゥ$ (F4)), before finaly dumping it on the actual page with the essencial content. With that I mean all the template stuff (see why I want you to train; ok, you can ignore the minor ones, but without forgetting to put the incomplete sign at the beginning of the article), following exactly the same model of the similar articles. Copypaste from them and then make the necessary changes. Hey! But not now. Start slowly, ok? You are jumping to a level higher than yours, no matter you notice it or not. But who knows? If you follow my advice, maybe in a few months you will have no problem on this. TheOriginalOne 22:54, 5 July 2013 (UTC)

Pokémon

When writing Pokémon, make sure the word is capitalized, and it has 'é' instead of 'e'. If you cannot type 'é', both 'é' and 'Poké' are available in the character palette below the edit box. Thanks. --It's Funktastic~!話してください 23:14, 20 July 2013 (UTC)

Please... PLEASE!

What have I told you 2 sections ago? If you want to create a new pokémon article, at least keep the basic format of all the other ones. That includes the templates. I'm gonna place stub there, but just as an exception. TheOriginalOne 19:27, 21 July 2013 (UTC)

Also, stub notices are to be placed at the end of a page, and in case it's glitch-related (sorry for not telling you this part), you should write Glitch. Besides, (I'm just saying this because I'm afraid you could do something else that shouldn't be done) that basic content includes the front sprite (if it doesn't freeze the game). If you want to get the sprite(s), use roms. Also, many of the template stuff can be found here. Just navigate by looking at the hexadecimals. And don't get confused with the distinction between RB and Y. TheOriginalOne 19:41, 21 July 2013 (UTC)
No, no! I said I was going to place the stub notice as an exception. If you want to create a glitch pokémon article, please make one that is relatively complete. If you are in doubt about that, you can submit the code to me and ask if that is enough. You can redirect any questions to my talk page if you want. But please keep this in mind: as we are talking about low traffic pages, we should at least leave a minimum of quality there. TheOriginalOne 20:14, 21 July 2013 (UTC)
Hello :) when you're creating a new article for a glitch Pokémon, please make sure to add the GlitchPkmnInfobox to the page and fill in the appropriate parameters - this will automatically categorise your new article by type as well as conforming to the style of existing articles. Thanks for your contributions! --ZestyCactus 20:35, 21 July 2013 (UTC)
Sorry to bombard your page, but make sure when using the infobox, that you fill out the information similar to how you would see it here. Just putting GlitchPkmnInfobox won't put in the right information. Also, if you're linking to the page with the title, and not a template use brackets ( ) not braces (). Using braces links to templates, while using brackets links to pages. --It's Funktastic~!話してください 20:51, 21 July 2013 (UTC)
AHHH! Sorry, but if it was that easy, all the glitch pokémon pages would exist. They shouldn't be stubs when created. Calm down. Your name describes it very well: you think this is a race at 200mph. But it isn't. Slow down; why don't you return to normal editing? That is the best way of learning how to eventually create new pages (and not only you missed the templates, as you did so with the links). I have always been an active, fast-learner user since February 2012, and so far this is the number of new pages I created, excluding redirects, moves and disambiguations: 1. Please understand this: there are no hurries in Bulbapedia, and when it comes to edits, it's better to do our best in a great amount of time than to do that. Please: if your goal is a better wiki, then do your best, and only when you feel the time has come. Thanks. TheOriginalOne 22:25, 21 July 2013 (UTC)
Also, please always sign at the end of a comment. Signing at the beginning is against the rules, as it creates confusion between your messages and the ones that come after. When it comes to the use of the same sprite when the # is the same, I'm not completely sure: ask the project leader. If you want to get sure by yourself, follow the method of getting sprites that I told you about: use roms, follow the procedures necessary to spot the glitch pokémon, and take a good snapshot (with a size of 56x56px), to then upload it to the archives (also, the name should not be random. See the convention here). At that point, the file is ready to be linked to. You can write any doubts about it here, for me to answer you in the most detailed way I can.
I saw your user page. You're good for a 10/11 year old: which doesn't mean you don't have to learn some things. To begin with, please read this. Again, you're free to ask me any questions. Ask everything you want! TheOriginalOne 13:02, 22 July 2013 (UTC)
Ok, you can be sure of the same sprite thing. Adding it now. TheOriginalOne 16:18, 22 July 2013 (UTC)

Great! That's a very nice behaviour, to just pay attention to what you like (I noticed you changed your habits a little, according to some things I told you), and to ingore the rest. Specially when I'm your slave! When my job is to complete (sort of) what you left unacceptably incomplete! Something that you could have easily avoided by:

  • Reading the Manual of style
  • Clicking of the edit tab of the pages for other glitch pokémon articles, to see how the templates work (in order to test the parameters, use the preview button as many times as you want!)
  • Noticing that an article without at least the follows isn't a generation I glitch pokémon article:
    • Templates: GlitchPkmnInfobox, AvailabilityGlitch , the learnset variants and GlitchEvobox. All the info necessary for that is also available at GCL.
    • Links: All that you can find (except for basic things, like "Pokédex" or "Pokémon"). Study the list of link templates and the ones used on other glitch pkmn pages.
    • Other sections: Just the External links: Easy as hell! Make an external link to the Glitch City article, under the cover text "On Glitch City Laboratories" (in case you don't know how to make an external link there's no problem, as it's explained in the Manual of style)
  • And please! The katakana u (ゥ) and other strange characters are to be copypasted, not replaced by things like "}".

So please respect the work I had, not only cleaning up your stuff, as writing to you. Don't hesitate when asking me anything you want here, but always hesitate when you see you still cannot replicate a good article. No hurries. Being the best doesn't mean starting soon. It means learning from the others since the moment you don't know how to do that thing, and gradually improve you own skills. TheOriginalOne 17:49, 25 July 2013 (UTC)

STOP INSULTING MY WORK!!! I always avoid writing in capitals because of this, so when I do it, it means I've reached my limit. You've ignored almost every warning I gave you. And you shouldn't laugh at that, because it can be considered vandalism, and so you're putting yourself at risk of being blocked by a staff member. You think you're the best, but calm down! No offense, but I call this ignorance - something not proper for someone who wants to be better. If you want to be respected, please don't disrespect others. TheOriginalOne 18:59, 25 July 2013 (UTC)

..... :( I don't disrespect others...

Hold it right there...

All the glitch pages you create are very short and the information is... part of that stuff is/was actually something already mentioned somewhere on Bulbapedia. You don't even bother for inserting the templates... Marked +-+-+ (talk) 20:35, 25 July 2013 (UTC)

I'd replace the "..." with a "!". You've recently been making fun of my instructions (because I can tell you read them, by some minor changes on your habits). Sorry, but following this rythm, my support (that makes me lose a lot of time but makes me win nothing in the real world, but that I'm always willing to give) is over. If you're here to make fun of the hard work I have on trying to teach you how to be better, and of the hard work many other dedicated users have, then I'm sorry, but that means you don't belong here. You aren't even aware of the privileges you've been given here. When, with your possible potential, you could be respected, you became the incarnation of a vandal. Arrogant people don't belong to wikis, as they are uncooperative, and as wikis have the objective not only of informing, but of promoting cooperation. Since the beginning I've always been very mad at you, but as you can see, it wasn't until today that I gave up on you. It wasn't until today that I stopped my great efforts to help you. And still, these pure warnings also take a lot of it. You've rejected all the acts of wiki friendship that me and other users had towards you, and that is deeply difamatory. You think you can bypass this, but the fact is that I'm using the last resort: I've informed the leader of Project Glitchdex: should you continue doing this, and you're putting yourself at risk of being blocked for insubordination. In case that happens, let it be a long moment of reflection - or should the aftermath of this conversation be already an example of it? TheOriginalOne 23:21, 25 July 2013 (UTC)

What ever information I must use for glitch pokémon pages is just very hard. I'm not trying to get blocked it is just hard to place all info. Also about a rom, when i get a laptop I will download the rom but it could take months unfortunately. So sorry. Racerjames200 (talk) 23:36, 25 July 2013 (UTC)

Finaly you say something! That makes it all easier: we are back to the beginning, I guess. Take your time learning how to use the templates, and before that, don't create new pages. You can't even imagine the work you're giving me. Again, write here all the doubts you have. I'll answer as soon as I can, in the most detailed way. But please, if you don't want to be haunted by messages like the previous one again, stop making pages like that and take your time to learn how to do it. That doesn't mean stopping your edits: you should pause your page creations, but it's better not to do so with normal edits. Please read the manual of style. And ask any questions you want!

PS: Please don't talk much about roms, as they are illegal. You don't need to refer them for me to get the idea.

Thanks, in case you agree with this. TheOriginalOne 23:52, 25 July 2013 (UTC)

Making pages

When you make a page from scratch, you want to make sure you have sufficient info. One sentence is not enough. To be honest, an inexperienced user like yourself probably shouldn't be making pages. If you want to make solid pages, you should lean the basics of the site, all of which are located in the Welcome template above. I know you'd like to focus on Glitch Pokémon, so I would also recommend talking to SnorlaxMonster as he is the head of Project GlitchDex. -- MAGNEDETH 02:10, 26 July 2013 (UTC) I would have to say. You are right MAGNEDETH.Racerjames200 (talk) 04:05, 26 July 2013 (UTC) I have a question. Could I get some useful links to useful resources? - unsigned comment from Racerjames200 (talkcontribs)

That's what the External links and GCL thing means. The instructions are on the last piece of advice that I gave you before I... lost my patience. TheOriginalOne 13:46, 29 July 2013 (UTC)

Uh... Ok but why did you lose your pacience? - unsigned comment from Racerjames200 (talkcontribs)

I was referring to when I got angry some days ago. But then you did the right thing, and things became smooth again. What I mean with all of this is that I told you how to make the external links section (what you just asked, right?) just before that: look for a bold text there saying "other sections", and then read what comes afterwards. TheOriginalOne 19:25, 30 July 2013 (UTC)

Alright then i'm glad. Racerjames200 (talk) 19:56, 30 July 2013 (UTC)

My Soulution

I might be able to copy the info on to a paper. Racerjames200 (talk) 18:49, 30 July 2013 (UTC) Also I will test by creating a page later today or tomorrow. And if it dosen't work out then will delete the page. Racerjames200 (talk) 06:36, 31 July 2013 (UTC) I failed....... :( :( Racerjames200 (talk) 07:01, 31 July 2013 (UTC)

Questions

Why is it so confusing at the start? - unsigned comment from Racerjames200 (talkcontribs)

Of what? TheOriginalOne 20:04, 30 July 2013 (UTC)

The editing. Racerjames200 (talk) 20:44, 30 July 2013 (UTC)

You mean the initial content of glitch pokémon pages? TheOriginalOne 21:27, 30 July 2013 (UTC)

I'm not quite sure.Racerjames200 (talk) 21:29, 30 July 2013 (UTC)

Please be clear! I could have already answered you a long time ago. As I said a million times, ask everything you want. Describe your doubts in detail, please. That way, "in detail" will also apply to my answer. TheOriginalOne 21:52, 30 July 2013 (UTC)

I know. But I felt like I wanted to start a question section and also yes the initial content. Racerjames200 (talk) 00:05, 31 July 2013 (UTC)

9's pokédex

When I saw a youtube video I saw a rocket grunt with a 9 it's pokédex locked up the game. BTW The gitch block to was in it's name. - unsigned comment from Racerjames200 (talkcontribs)

Asking questions

Wait a minute! I told you to ask questions, but don't do so that way. You shouldn't spam your own page with new sections while hoping someone comes along to answer. I know you're directing to me, so please write on my talk page. And in just one section, not multiple ones: a general helping section, just for your doubts - and please be clear. For example, if the subject is a video, then provide me the link. Thanks for your research efforts anyway. TheOriginalOne 17:30, 31 July 2013 (UTC) Where do I ask on the talk page? Racerjames200 (talk) 18:07, 31 July 2013 (UTC)

Create a new section. Like what you've always been doing here... TheOriginalOne 18:08, 31 July 2013 (UTC)

Editing

Why is the initial part of editing so confusing at first? Racerjames200 (talk) 20:13, 31 July 2013 (UTC)

It was supposed to be on my page, not yours... but nevermind: don't create any new section, as this one is from now on going to be used on the discussion of this. Ok? Now let's talk about what really matters: please specify the template you're talking about. But, above all, read the Manual of style first, just in case you still haven't done so. Please reply me here as soon as you finished reading it, and explain the details of your problems on that reply. TheOriginalOne 21:19, 31 July 2013 (UTC)

When I do all I can instead the glitch pkmninfobox does not appear... Racerjames200 (talk) 06:05, 14 August 2013 (UTC)

Userspace limits

Hi. I noticed you have been editing the User: namespace a lot recently. Please don't do it any more, though. Bulbapedia's Userspace policy restricts the amount you can edit your userpage: no more than three edits per day and make sure you contribute to our mainspace more than your userspace. This policy was instated to promote people helping out in the mainspace, and also to control strain on our server. Bulbapedia is an encyclopedia, after all, so help us out by contributing to some articles before coming back to your personal userpage. The more often you edit in the mainspace, the more you will be allowed to edit your userpage. Thanks! --— Reshi643 22:08, 2 August 2013 (UTC)

Hold on!

If you did not read your last warning, then please read it now. You have edited the User: namespace too much. In the past, no one was allowed to edit their userpages because some users were over-editing their own userpages. Your personal editing privileges can be taken away, so please do not edit your page any more for now. Instead, how about helping contribute to some of Bulbapedia's many articles? Thank you. --It's Funktastic~!話してください 18:36, 4 August 2013 (UTC)

And just to add to this since it doesn't make it clear, you need to have at least one more mainspace edit than userspace edits, with the max amount of userspace edits per day being three. You've edited your userspace twelve times in the past few days, but you haven't edited the mainspace once. Please make sure to edit the mainspace more before editing your userspace. Thanks. --It's Funktastic~!話してください 18:41, 4 August 2013 (UTC)

Signing talk page comments

Please remember to sign your talk page comments by typing four tildes (~~~~), by selecting the four tildes in the character palette below the editing window, or by clicking the add signature button (button_sig.png) above the editing window. This provides your signature, which includes links to your user page and talk page as well as a timestamp so people can tell when you left the message. If you'd like, you can customize your signature by following the instructions in the Signature policy.
