Welcome to Bulbapedia, Pokered4000!

Here are a few links to help you get started:

The Manual of Style, or MoS, outlines the format of all pages on Bulbapedia.

Our friendly team of staff are here to help! Talk to them if you have any questions or problems with Bulbapedia.

On talk pages, please sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~), or by using the "Your signature with a timestamp" (button_sig.png) button at the top of the edit window.

On Bulbapedia, the ability to edit personal userpages is a privilege. Per our userpage policy, this must be earned by first making constructive edits to the mainspace. Once you can, remember to keep userspace edits (edits to User:Pokered4000) to a minimum.

For a complete list of policies and editing advice, please see the Welcome Portal.
Thank you, and have a good time editing here!

Can't edit

For some reason, when I try to edit my user page, it says that I need to edit articles in the mainspace first. I've already edited THREE. Why can I still not do it? Pokered4000 04:13, 10 August 2010 (UTC)

You need to edit more than once. I don't know how many times exactly, but it's more than once. ~~ Scyther Be Awesome! Need something? 04:16, 10 August 2010 (UTC)
The same page, more than once? Pokered4000 04:17, 10 August 2010 (UTC)
No, multiple pages. And even once you get in the required edits, you're supposed to keep the userspace edits to a minimum. It's a privilege, not a right. ~~ Scyther Be Awesome! Need something? 04:18, 10 August 2010 (UTC)
I know about the user page edit limit. My problem is, I've edited three different pages in the mainspace, and I still can't edit my userpage. Pokered4000 04:21, 10 August 2010 (UTC)
I had to edit more than 50 mainspace pages before I got permission to edit my userpage. I don't know what the exact number is, but I do know that quality of your edits is just as important as quantity. You won't get by with making a lot of crappy edits that have to be reverted.--PhantomJunkie 04:23, 10 August 2010 (UTC)

Think about it this way: this is a Pokémon encyclopedia, not a social space. If you really have something to say, or you just want to introduce yourself, you can go to the forums. A lot of our users are also on there.--PhantomJunkie 04:26, 10 August 2010 (UTC)

Userspace creating?

I can't figure out how to create a page in the User namespace that isn't my userpage. How do I do it? Pokered4000 22:01, 17 January 2011 (UTC)

Hey, how's it going? Just thought I would introduce myself and answer your question. I am Jediknightdtv, but you can call me Jedi for short, most people on here do. Editing the userspace is a privilege, which you will earn after you have fulfilled two requirements, 1) you have to make a certain amount of mainspace edits and 2) you have to have been here for a certain amount of time. Now I am Psychic, and I know what your next questions are going to be, "How many edits? How much time?" The truth is, it is a limit that is automatically determined by the software, and the reason it was put into place was because a long time ago (back before my time, I do not know how much) a whole bunch of users treated Bulbapedia like it was a social networking site, only doing the required amount of edits to gain the ability to edit the userspace, then doing nothing but editing their userpages, and not contributing to the mainspace at all. This resulted in an incredible amount of strain on the servers, and led to the admins taking away the ability to edit the userspace for everyone for a while. When they restored the privilege, they put in place the current rules, including not editing your userspace more than three times a day. Now, from what I can see, you have been here long enough, so if you still cannot edit your userspace, I can only conclude that it is because you have not made enough mainspace edits. Three is obviously not going to cut it. The best advice I could give you as far as editing goes is lurk a little more, and try to see what makes a good edit, so as not to get reverted. Then, when you feel comfortable, try looking at the list of wanted articles, or if you don't feel comfortable starting from scratch, you can try fixing some stub articles. Finally, after you are able to create your main userpage, you can create other subpages in your userspace by using, for example: User:Pokered4000/insertnameofpagehere. It will take you to a page that says that no such page exists on Bulbapedia, and ask you if you want to create it. Just say yes, and you are good to go. If you have any other questions, or are confused by anything at all, feel free to drop me a line on my talkpage. Hope that helps, and it is nice to meet you. --JediKnightDTV 05:56, 2 February 2011 (UTC)
