Hacked?

I got a shiny Deoxys from a friend. It looked normal, but when I transferred it from Emerald to Pearl, it's nickname changed from "N" to "⌡|ºN" (not completely accurate, Word symbols aren't so great, the 2nd symbol looks more like a stunted p).
