Moveset

I just added the moveset... I know it dosen't match the one on Blaziken's page, but I feel this format is truer to the actual moves in game. If you have any criticism, though, I'd be glad to hear it. Also, on an unrelated note, I think it be best if someone made a new infobox for the game specifically (but I don't know how [or if I'm allowed] and understand it isn't an immediate issue.) Kind of overall, do we really need 3 columns (those last 3) when most of the time only 1 is actually used at a time?
  • Regarding the Use column: (on this page at least) what's in that column is often either redundant (like "Overcome blocks" is an inherent property for a "Grab", "Major damage" should (eventually) be communicated by Damage) or even opaque ("For surprise attacks"...how so?).
  • The "Recommended" column is kind of nonsense. I mean, sure, on the one hand, we're a wiki, and we generally want to note what the game says; but on the other hand, we're a wiki and not a strategy guide, so that sort of recommendation also isn't that important to us anyway. But also, a simple "Yes" just doesn't at all communicate why it's recommended. I think that's the biggest reason we should just ignore it.
In short, it's kind of easier for us if we just use one column and note whatever really needs noting.
Also: "[When enhanced]" is completely opaque. Either it needs explanation or it should just use a more basic description. (And I tend to think just using a simpler description in the first place is smarter.)
(A big caveat here is that I don't have and haven't played this game.) Tiddlywinks (talk) 19:38, 9 June 2016 (UTC)
I know it isn't great, but on Blaziken's page I felt some info was missing. We could condense it; I was just putting everything the game says on the Move List page in the Battle Dojo. AmoongussForLife (talk) 13:09, 13 June 2016 (UTC)
I'll be honest, I kind of like how it was set up on the Blaziken page a bit better. I think we just need the buttons, move/name of move, and a description/notes on any little tidbits. "Damage" would be nice when/if we get that information, and "type" can kind of work but not always since the description can cover that, though a bit redundant with "use". But I have to agree with Tiddlywinks on the "recommended" column, there really isn't much of a need for that one. Folks can find all sorts of uses for moves. Though the input symbols are an improvement, IMO. As for the "enhanced" piece, I've been sort of trying to figure tha one out, though I need to look at Blaziken again to see how we played it out initially. Also, as I said on my talk page, I have a navigation template in the works at the moment, though that isn't actually relevant to the subject at hand. ----NateVirus(Talk|Contributions) 20:44, 15 June 2016 (UTC)
  • Okay, since I have a template for the moves in the works, I'm wondering if there is any way we can program the inputs AmoongussForLife added into the code/template so they can be used/chosen from without constantly copying and pasting? Kinda like the yes/no options in templates like the one for clothes. I have no idea where else I should ask this at the moment...figured I'd put this somewhere until I have time to look for more info and whatnot. :/ ----NateVirus(Talk|Contributions) 22:03, 18 July 2016 (UTC)
It's way too varied. Just copy and paste. Tiddlywinks (talk) 22:14, 18 July 2016 (UTC)
Alright, thank you, Tiddlywinks. :) I guess now it is a matter of finding something like "Ⓐ" for the B, X, Y, L, and R buttons. Or just use the regular keys.----NateVirus(Talk|Contributions) 00:27, 19 July 2016 (UTC)
