Welcome

Welcome to Bulbapedia, Maverick Nate/Archives!

As a new user, you may wish to learn a few things that will be useful in your editing:

• For a basic overview of wiki code, see this page.
• The manual of style is very important. Make sure to read it. It outlines all official policies of Bulbapedia.
• The word Pokémon is spelled with a capital P and an accented é. The P, of course, is accessed easily by holding Shift and pressing the P key, while the é can be accessed using Alt + 130 or Alt + 0233 on a Windows computer, and Option + e, then e again on a Mac. Otherwise, you can click it in the character palette below the editbox.
• The word Poké Ball is spelled as two words. The "Poké" part is identical to the four beginning letters in "Pokémon"; "Ball" is spelled with a captial B (which is, again, accessed by holding Shift and pressing the B key). The spelling "Pokéball" arises frequently, but is incorrect.
• The word "you" and all forms of it should not be used on encyclopedic pages unless it is a quote from Pokémon or other media. Bulbapedia is an encyclopedia, not a walkthrough.
• On talk pages, please sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).
• The use of link templates is official policy. For an explanation on their use, see the page on shortlinks.
• If you happen to spot a vandal in the recent changes that has not been dealt with, please see this page for how to deal with it.
• A list of pages that are linked to, but have not been created, can be found at this page. A list of short articles that may require more information can be found here, while a list of articles that need improvement can be found here.
• For a future capture, release, trade, or evolution of a Pokémon belonging to a main character of the anime, please do not create or move the page to reflect your suspicions, even if they are shared by many others. Policy here is to wait until the episode in which the event happens takes place is aired, unless there is substantial evidence for the suspicion (such as Brock's Happiny being held in his arms).
• Image uploading is done on Bulbagarden Archives, a separate wiki accessible through the toolbox in the sidebar. You will have to register separately for it, as well. This is done so that both Bulbapedia and Bulbanews have access to the images uploaded.
• If you want to make a page about a character you made up, please create it at User:Maverick Nate/Archives/1/(name), not merely (name). Bulbapedia's main namespace is reserved for actual, official Pokémon, items, characters, and locations. Also, please try to make sure that subpages are not categorized by templates used within.
• Having said this, please make sure that you do contribute adequately to the main namespace. Bulbapedia is not MySpace or Facebook.
• A list of the admins that you can contact in case of a problem, can be found here.

Mirage Forest

Why should it have a link on the Legend Maker page? It certainly isn't worthy of a page, as 95% of everything on it would be speculation. Holon, I can understand, as it spawned the Delta Species series. But Mirage Forest is the theme in one set. Doesn't matter what Holon has to do with it, it's the theme in one set. Martonimos told me that you were angry that I used your colours for the table. I am very sorry and I honestly didn't know. To make it up I have changed my colours so you can change yours back. I only took them because they were the best set on here, I thought you would be happy to know that someone thought your colour sceme was great enough to use, but as you weren't I changed it. I'm shocked

I am not suggesting I should be an admin, as of right now I am way too busy, plus as you mentioned I am too new, but my opinion and your opinion should be equal in a decision in something like what picture to use.

Not sure the exact policy here, but from the experience I've had, you generally shouldn't remove content from talk pages, but admins can if they feel it isn't appropriate. So, generally speaking, if an admin tells you to keep such-and-such a discussion off a talk page, they should also take care of removing it, if it needs removing.

And of course, I would say that a trump to that rule is if someone's posting detailed descriptions of their sexual experiences with the male ballet dance team from the dark alley down the street. Actually, we're basically donew/ party tables except for Pokémon Special. Remember how I made those lists on Politoed and Fabu-Vinny's pages of COTDs that needed tables?

Also, u create more work for Politoed, bcuz most of the cards don't hav articles, thus no pictures (see: User: Politoed666/The List)--KukiTalk 19:45, 5 July 2008 (UTC)

Templstes

one of them is this: User:Shiningpikablu252/TPCD , the talk page comment deletion thing. all you have to do is put {{subst:User:Shiningpikablu252/TPCD}} and it should become that on the talk page. The one for link templates is at User:Shiningpikablu252/Link Templates. There are two variable fields:

• The first is for the link template in question.
• The other is for the target reached by that link template.

For example, {{:User:Shiningpikablu252/Link Templates|p|Mismagius}} would be used for someone who linked [[Mismagius]] as the species in general (as opposed to a specific Mismagius, of which we could see two of them in the future), while {{:User:Shiningpikablu252/Link Templates|m|Metronome}} would be used for someone who linked [[Metronome]] as the move (as opposed to the item). --Shiningpikablu252 00:12, 9 July 2008 (UTC)

Answer

My computer does read Japanese text. What I did was enter the characters into my character map, (sometimes I have to refer to my Japanese dictonary to pinpoint the characters). Then I turned to Google to try to get a rough translation. The move Water Sport contains the Japanese word "mizu" which I know means "water" so I searched moves with that word to find it. As long as I can read the characters on the card, I should be able to do more. Even if the moves are not from the game. If that's the case, I may have to rely on more translating tools. Ash Ketchum article

I do perfectly understand what you mean about the bit with the seven main characters. I just want to point out there are a lot of trivia facts not just about Ash, but all over Bulbapedia, that are only trivia because of the way they have been overly focused. On the Ash page, however, there are several similar facts. Such as Ash's primate pokemon haveing been owned by others while several more of his pokemon have belonged to other people as well. There is also speculation on the page which is supposed to not be allowed with Ash's grass pokemon. Again, I am not meaning to be rude or anything, just pointed out that there are many additional issues and I think that this particular one about how many characters have owned multiple of the same pokemon is valid enough to be present. You are counting half the members and when there are so many people with the same trivia, it's not that trivial anymore . I was the person who reverted you because of how limiting you were. Actually, I think the Japanese translation for Heatran is Hiidoran, as that's what got over 8000 hits on Google, and from what I saw, they were all referring to Heatran. I'm positive that anything that says "Mr.Mime" in a game is due to a technical restriction from Generation II and earlier. The name is clearly "Mr. Mime" in the Generation IV Pokédex, and what appears to be a "period-plus-half-space" character programmed into the games from Generation III forward still counts as a break between words. Additionally, proportional-width spaces aren't the same width as traditional characters in proportional fonts (which the games started to use full-time starting with Generation III)--there's a narrow space in Mr. Mime's name in the Pokérap and similar spaces in other media. My 2¢: Chalk this controversy up to technical restrictions. It was never officially "Mr.Mime". Help with translation

I managed to dig deep into the pokemon card game website and found the original pages with the PLAY promos on. I'll keep trundling through them, but when put through translation software, it can be just as hard to decipher what it means. I need another opinion on the best English for these, do you think you could apply TCG terminology to these?
