Friend Safari locations for Pokemon pages

I would really like to know the current status of noting Friend Safari on Pokemon pages. Has there been any progress since the update you gave two months ago? I'd like some response (from someone...) to my query on the Friend Safari talk page...

In particular, I want to know if it's actually impossible to satisfactorily note the Friend Safari, currently, on Pokemon pages. If it can be done, it should be, whether there's a new template in the works or not. I cannot fathom what a new template might do that the current template couldn't that would make it and only it acceptable for adding the Friend Safari. Tiddlywinks (talk) 04:46, 14 March 2014 (UTC)

As much as it should be listed, I believe the consensus is to wait for the new template. No sense doing work twice (I do, however, understand the concern with how long it is taking). Although the new template may appear ready, some staff members have a few concerns with the template. We're pushing this up in the communal to-do list immediately. I'm sorry if I'm not too much help here. I've been out of the game-loop for a while with my focuses elsewhere. MaverickNate 05:10, 14 March 2014 (UTC)
Can you direct me to someone I may implore to better effect then? "No sense doing work twice" is not a good reason. It's your (staff, I suppose) reason. If I could be allowed to add Friend Safari locations (in an acceptable format), I wouldn't care the least bit if, one day in and a quarter of the way through, the new template was approved and staff started inserting the new template, with Friend Safari locations.
What there's no sense in is keeping the wiki in a decidedly incomplete state when it can be complete. If staff don't want to do the work twice, let other people who don't mind do it. There should be several people around who would still be willing. Tiddlywinks (talk) 05:23, 14 March 2014 (UTC)
Not doing work over again is my policy. I was speaking for myself. Not the staff. I run a section with very few users contributing, and I like to make sure any and all help is maximized to the fullest, because I'll never know when it will be available again. I suggest going to either the Head of Games, as it's the game availability template in question, or the Editor in Chief, as the template in question is being worked on by her. I have no power in granting a temporary implementation into a section that isn't the TCG. MaverickNate 05:32, 14 March 2014 (UTC)

Name parameter

What exactly is the "name=" in the cardlist/div for? I noticed it's only been put in -EX listings for XY Series cards. glikglak 04:36, 18 March 2014 (UTC)

It is supposed to be used on anything with an image in the title of the card. Pokémon SP, Pokémon ☆, Pokémon-EX, etc. The title of each section is treated as an anchor for links, but as images can't very well be in links, there needs to be some way of textifying the names so that links work. The name parameter does this. Ex: Blastoise (TCG)#Blastoise-EX. These links are used on the card name sections of every card. MaverickNate 05:02, 18 March 2014 (UTC)
Ran into a problem with blank Owner's Pokémon: the cards' infoboxes seem to link to "#_.27s_(Pokémon)", which I'm assuming translates to " 's (Pokémon)", but putting that in the name parameter doesn't appear to work. Also tried copying the whole ____'s but again, no dice. glikglak 20:08, 21 March 2014 (UTC)
I kind of forgot about this message. I'll try some things out and see if any of them work. MaverickNate 07:53, 1 April 2014 (UTC)

Coins

Do the DP and BW theme decks and trainer kits not have an image for their coins for a reason? glikglak 00:02, 9 April 2014 (UTC)

While in charge, coins weren't something I cared about until recently. So their deck placement just wasn't ever updated. Additionally, our previous coverage on coins isn't as in depth as it needs to be, so it has been taking a lot of research so that we don't have false information spreading across the TCG section. I have a notebook with all the DP and BW coin coverage. I just haven't gotten all the necessary images for it yet. MaverickNate 00:50, 9 April 2014 (UTC)
Oh hey, you have a to-do sorta list at the top of the page, why didn't I ever look at that? Any plans on updating it? It'd certainly help me in finding things to do instead of just playing follow the leader. And in case your notes don't have it (and what prompted the question in the first place), Toxic Tricks has this coin. glikglak 03:56, 9 April 2014 (UTC)
That's the coin included in Explosive Edge: a Regular-sized, Black Chrome, White-backed Reshiram/Zekrom Coin. The coin included in Toxic Tricks is actually a Regular-sized, Gold Rainbow-Mirror Holofoil, Black-backed Reshiram/Zekrom Coin.
As for my to-do list, I'll probably update it again sometime. It's just been a while and it will take a bit of double checking to figure out what exactly has been finished since the last time I looked at it. MaverickNate 04:06, 9 April 2014 (UTC)
Gold? If you mean this one, then something's wrong. The one I have is not even remotely that dark of a gold; the Holofoil makes it tricky, but it's a plain chrome/silver or a very light gold. It's a lot closer to the black chrome one, which is why I thought it was the one. glikglak 04:30, 9 April 2014 (UTC)
That image is an image from the Pokémon Trading Card Game Online, so your confusion is understandable. No Reshiram/Zerkom coin exists that is that deep of a gold color. Everything from Pokemon.com removes holofoil and makes everything a lot trickier. I need to go through BW Coins just like I have been with XY Coins and do a lot of chipping away and image replacing in order to make everything as detailed as it needs to be. Getting images is also a bit tricky because Mirror Foil scans terribly. Though, just to make sure, your coin looks closer to this image I just uploaded, yes? MaverickNate 04:41, 9 April 2014 (UTC)
Yeah, that's it. Now I get why you didn't want to spend so much time on coins previously. glikglak 05:08, 9 April 2014 (UTC)
Yeah, there's just a lot going on with coins. There's a lot of unintentionally misleading/incorrect information to sift through in order to be 100% correct with coins, and it's hard to give undivided attention to them when there is always a new expansion looming in the background. Newbie questions about images

Hi Maverick, I am new to this project and have a question about uploading an image of a card from the Pokemon TCG to that card's article. I contacted another user and was adviced that I contact an admin listed on the TCG project page. In an article about a specific card from the TCG, should an english version be used for the card image if one is available and is it okay to take that image from a third party site? To be more specific, would it be okay to take this image and replace a:File:MoltresexNintendoPromo31.jpg in Moltres ex (Nintendo Promo 31) with it? Furthermore, could I do it, technically, or does my account need to be autoconfirmed first? Regards. Gengar321 (talk) 20:49, 10 April 2014 (UTC)

In order to ensure quality of our images, for English cards, we require that they be either from the official site, or scans done on our own. I enjoy your interest in improving the TCG section, it's just bad practice to use other websites' images. We'd have to go through a large process of asking collector's cache for permission to use their card scans, and as their images aren't exactly as large of an improvement as we'd like to see, it's not exactly worth the time and effort to get images we'd have to replace later anyway.
As for being autoconfirmed, you have to be a user on the Archives for an undetermined amount of time and make a certain amount of edits there in order to upload over images. Hope that helps! MaverickNate 21:53, 10 April 2014 (UTC)
Thanks for the information. Since I don't own a copy of the card myself and an image of the card doesn't seem to be available on any official site, it's difficult to get a scan image of the english card. Gengar321 (talk) 11:51, 13 April 2014 (UTC)

Merch Gallery and Things

Seems we don't have the Japanese boosters and some English boosters for the HGSS Series, as well the Call of Legends boosters. While I was looking through the Archives for them, I noticed unused expansion artwork and booster boxes. Should I start incorporating the official artwork into the article like on Unleashed and should the booster boxes be used in the gallery sections?

I also left you a message on the Archives about card scans. glikglak 23:38, 22 April 2014 (UTC)

No to the booster boxes. As for the artwork, I really only added those into the body of the information section when the actual text references them. The images would be out of place if there's no real reason to be shown outside of "hey look at this". There are better places for that. MaverickNate 19:08, 23 April 2014 (UTC)

Article mainspacing stuff

What happened with this thread? I haven't seen any posts about other articles on here needing attention since February and the fact that a few of the recent discussed articles weren't resolved or anything. PattyMan 04:23, 27 April 2014 (UTC)

A change in the leadership means a change in certain practices on the wiki. The thread is no longer going to be used, and the pages left needing attention will be addressed in other ways. MaverickNate 06:12, 27 April 2014 (UTC)

Brilliant Thunder Coin

Here is the Brilliant Thunder coin you asked for. Looks like its the Mega-Charizard coin from the Japanese half deck.

"First introduced"

I'm not interested in beating a dead horse if you're not interested in changing your mind, but for the record, "first originating in" is exactly as redundant as "first introduced" for the same reason I mentioned in my edit summary. That's all; I'll leave TCG stuff alone now. Pumpkinking0192 (talk) 05:14, 12 May 2014 (UTC)

False. It is NOT redundant, and I will explain why. The placement/omission of the word "fist" when talking about release information has a very specific consequence of meaning. First is always included when a card has more than one print (which is pretty much every card, except for non-reprinted unreleased Japanese cards, and yet-to-be-released-in-Japan English cards...with one exception, which will be detailed out later). A statement saying "first introduced" or "first released" should always be used on cards that were first released in English before they were released in Japanese: Boundaries Crossed Black Kyurem, EX Sandstorm Anorith. On the flip side, "first originating in" is specifically for cards that were released in English (our highest priority as an English wiki), that first originated in a Japanese expansion: Dark Explorers Ultra Ball, EX Hidden Legends Magnetic Storm. Dragons Exalted Rayquaza utilizes both. Eliminating the word "first" is strictly reserved for situations where the card was released at the exact same time in both English in Japanese. As the card was neither first released or originating from an expansion, being simultaneous, "first" is removed: the entire Kalos Starter Set, every worlds promo such as Tropical Beach.
As a subject, the TCG is extremely strict in words and phrasing. Even just a slight miscommunication in card text can cause tremendous effects during the actual tournament scene, from warnings to complete game losses. Thus, I am extremely deliberate and specific with everything I write, edit, and do for the TCG section, and it is entirely shocking when an edit of mine, as the TCG seat of the Editorial Board, is reverted and removed when I very intentionally added it back in. I take all thoughts and suggestions into consideration when someone brings them to my attention; however, the times when they aren't brought to my attention and just dashed off with the undo button and an edit summary are the times that I find incredibly rude. Rude towards me as a person, because I'm seemingly not worth your time to write out a proper message the first time before a reversion war, and rude towards me as an upper level staff member, due to the lack of respect for experience and authority. MaverickNate 07:34, 12 May 2014 (UTC)
"First released" is not redundant, because something can be released more than once. "First introduced" is, because it is impossible to be introduced more than once. If you're insistent on "first" as a way of signifying things for tournament rules, may I suggest that "introduced" be changed to "released," since you seem to be intending them to mean the same thing despite their difference in connotation? (I apologize for my second edit; I didn't mean to be rude. I just thought, since you didn't mention it in your edit summary, that you had been editing a previous revision of the page and had overlooked my edit without realizing you'd undone it.) Pumpkinking0192 (talk) 07:50, 12 May 2014 (UTC)
More than one introduction is possible when you are introducing something to a different group of people. Painting a broad brushstroke, cards are first introduced in Japan, and then introduced later to the English card game territories, then introduced in Korea, then the European languages. Yes, 'introduced' here may seem similar to 'released' in meaning, but on our TCG pages, released is reserved for other contexts. Alternate words and wordings are specifically chosen in order to keep one word from meaning separate things in close contexts. MaverickNate 13:34, 12 May 2014 (UTC)

Quick question

So, does the "5 people using a template in the userspace for it to be moved" rule include or exclude the owner? (I really want to optimize this template to not have to use 7 parameters, but I'm coming up short in ideas). Anyway, assuming it can be moved, Could I also add something like what I described here? Anyway, thanks for your time. Schiffy (瀬藤健二) (Talk Contribs) 21:35, 5/21/2014 (UTC)

Need some quick help

I need some help in updating the opening summary on the new SSB game since the information regarding the 3DS version is outdated now that the official release date is confirmed. -Tyler53841 (talk) 20:01, 11 June 2014 (UTC)

What I might be able to help with.

Okay, here goes. I must have over a thousand Pokémon cards, so I might be able to provide some English scans for cards that need them. I also go on PTCGO a bit, so if we need any information on that, I could probably get it. Also, I know of a piece of TCG merchandise that I don't think is licensed by the Pokémon Company. I can't remember all the details, but here's what I know: It's a cube-shaped object sold at Target stores (I don't know if it's sold anywhere else, but definitely Target stores in the US), it's pre-XY era, and it contains the following: two random repackaged figures from boxes (mine were Kyurem and Mewtwo), one random holographic card (mine was Entei), one random reverse-holo card (mine was Shinx), a bunch of assorted cards from the Black & White Trainer Kit and one of the World Championship decks, a DP-era booster (Mine was a Stormfront booster pack, I believe), and a BW-era booster pack (mine was a Dark Explorers). I'm not sure how to go about using this information, but I can go to Target and look at a few more of the cubes to see the variation (although since it's not official, it's probably completely random in terms of sets), and I can try to get an image. I also know of a YouTuber who opened one, if that's any help. Lastly, I can pick up wikicode pretty quickly if any templates need sprucing up. Sorry for the long message, and thanks for hearing me out! KYUREM'S ICE BLADE 18:14, 18 June 2014 (UTC)

Oh, I know the box you are talking about! That's simply a third party repackage: an item including ripped apart theme deck pieces that they weren't able to sell, any random cards they have lying around, and old packs people don't typically want. There are many different types of these products, but since they aren't licensed and also aren't standardized in any sort with their contents, we ignore them on the wiki. As for card scans, most are a low priority. As long as we have an artwork for each different print of cards, it doesn't matter if they aren't in English or not. Scans aren't an area of information that will get lost forever if we take too long to do it (since anyone who has a collection can just grab the card, take a scan, and finish the work.) I won't say no if you want to do it, I just think there's better uses of your time. The PTCGO though, I think it would be cool if you were able to get information from there. We haven't entirely posted anything substantial since the initial interest in PTCGO a Generation ago, and we're seriously lacking. I don't have the time to focus on it, and if you were willing to do that, I would most certainly appreciate it. All the decks since BW (and some HS ones) have had code cards that unlock the deck online. However, in order to unlock the full deck (by automactically replacing old cards with different cards with each win), it has to be played with in the Trainer Challenge (Mind Wipe and Solar Strike are the only one I remember being finished, so they are good examples). I don't know if you buy theme decks and would have the codes, but if you don't, I do and would be willing to send the code your way if you wanted to work on finding out each deck's unlockables. The character pages need more information, and we should probably have a list of promotional cards that are available on there, since they are different than real life. We're just seriously empty in regards to PTCGO, and any work you would do is beneficial. MaverickNate 18:45, 18 June 2014 (UTC)
Ah yes, I know what you mean about the TCGO decks. I do have the Ice Shock and Cold Fire decks, but I appear to have lost the code cards. They're bound to be somewhere in my collection, but if not, I can save up my Trainer Tokens and buy them in the shop. I'll take a look at which decks need more information (I know there are some default decks you can unlock, but those might have already been filled out) and go from there. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction! KYUREM'S ICE BLADE 03:18, 19 June 2014 (UTC)
Splendid! If you have any questions or need any help, don't be afraid to ask me and I'll see what I can do. MaverickNate 13:45, 19 June 2014 (UTC)

Hey

Hey, its Tavis. It's been a while. Just remembered, do you think you could take me off the abuse list? CoolPikachu set me to abuse years ago shortly before he was kicked out. My bro and I simply edited each other's user pages without going over our personal limit, but for some reason, CP decided to tally my bro's edits onto my count as well. Thanks --Tavisource 08:19, 21 June 2014 (UTC)

I think it is entirely fair to remove you from abuse. Hold on a second. I'll take care of it. MaverickNate 13:54, 21 June 2014 (UTC)

Furious Fists

Given how early the set has leaked, and that you have made a start already, are you okay with me making headway on the English conversion? ~~nuva-kal 20:56, 18 July 2014 (UTC)

Yeah! That would be fine. I haven't been able to get to much of it anyway, so it would be good if someone was able to. =] MaverickNate 22:59, 18 July 2014 (UTC)

BW77 & BW78

I'm a little confused: BW Black Star Promos (TCG). You undid my revision back to my first edit. You said "Yeah, if you're not going to bother reading bulbanews for this info, I'm not letting something not sourced from us get on here."

I don't understand, because I DID use the Bulbanews as source. I originally had it set to "Unreleased", and then I changed it to "Unknown cancelled promotion" (trying to keep it consistent with what is listed under DP54 and DP55) so that people wouldn't expect "Unreleased" to mean it will be released one day. You sent it back to Unreleased (my original terminology for these two promos). How is what I said not the same as what was on Bulbanews? Would you rather it be "Cancelled promotion"?

I am a veteran competitor and collector, and I felt like helping by correcting some misconceptions on Bulbapedia. I really enjoy the work you do on Bulbapedia, but if you want new editors to stay around and be productive members, try being helpful to them instead of sarcastic and condescending. It's unnecessary. 066-067 XY-P

Just thought I'd give you a heads up since I haven't seen a post on it :D

Lucario EX 60 Card Fierce Fight Deck

Released with Corocoro Ichiban on July 26th.

Product Page here: http://www.pokemon-card.com/special/coro1_xy3guide/

Comes with TWO XY-P promos:

Lucario EX 066/xy-p

oc8JNuF.jpg

Machamp 067/xy-p

1xLQO7q.jpg

Thanks for telling me! I somehow missed these promos. Due to how long ago they were actually released, I think it'd just be appropriate to have them added to the promo pages and getting things updated only. I'll take care of it. Thanks again! MaverickNate 14:42, 6 August 2014 (UTC)

Sheen Holofoil in XY (TCG)

Hi Maverick, I'm currently editing to section for Holofoils, and adding in the information for different types of holofoils over the generations; would it be ok to use information from your currently-in-development sheen holofoil page? Additionally, I've bought three booster boxes of Korean XY and Wild Blaze boosters, so I found out that the holofoil for XY on is sheen holofoil from bottom left to top right, covering the image only (not the borders, etc)

Thanks! - unsigned comment from Ching Yeung (talkcontribs) <-sorry for that. Still rather new around here.

Feel free to use whatever you need! I made that page to replace the holofoil page eventually, so use it! Good job on the page. MaverickNate 15:41, 15 August 2014 (UTC)

Rarity (editing)

Hi there, do you think that Promos, reverse holos, or fixed rarities should be added in the Rarity page? I think reverse holo doesn't really apply, but not really sure about the other two. Do you have any others to add? Thanks! Ching Yeung (talk) 10:15, 17 August 2014 (UTC)

I think those all could get a mention on the rarity page. There are enough details to warrant being listed I think. Feel free to add anything you feel appropriate to that page. It certainly needs the help! MaverickNate 18:12, 20 August 2014 (UTC)
I've added the fixed rarities, and will do so for Promos in a minute, but maybe reverse holos should be added in the Holofoil page instead? Or maybe the booster pack page - its mentioned there, but doesn't have any details. CY (talk) 08:04, 23 August 2014 (UTC)
I've finished with the promos, but I can't have an image in it since its way too large! Can I shrink it? CY (talk) 08:10, 23 August 2014 (UTC)

Game version redirects on card pages

I've gathered you're pretty deliberate when it comes to TCG pages. So I was wondering if there was a specific reason that many pages (like Pawniard (Noble Victories 81)) use a redirected link (like Pokémon X) rather than pointing the target directly at the proper page and just customizing the text part (like Pokémon X)? Aren't redirects undesirable? Tiddlywinks (talk) 15:49, 18 August 2014 (UTC)

Let me get back to you on this. I don't have the time to write out a complete message right now. MaverickNate 18:12, 20 August 2014 (UTC)
I'm going to postpone an answer on this until we work out a less convoluted template system. The way we want to use these link templates and the options these link templates provide do not work out well together. MaverickNate 19:59, 20 August 2014 (UTC)
I think I sympathize with that sentiment. OK. Tiddlywinks (talk) 20:16, 20 August 2014 (UTC)

Korean Half Decks

Hi, I went to Korea recently and bought the Yveltal and Xerneas Half Decks, so I have the card list; however, I don't have permission to create a new page. Should I give you the card list instead? I'm happy to do that. Additionally, although it says on the pages of the Chesnaught/Delphox/Frogadier Half Decks that one card was removed to make room for another of the final evolutions, I opened the Delphox deck and it had an additional Braixen (supposedly replaced card) at the back, in a separate plastic 'wrapping'! Should I take a photo and send it to you? CY (talk) 12:15, 20 August 2014 (UTC)

I think it would be a good idea to list those decklists on the already existing pages for Xerneas Half Deck and Yveltal Half Deck. Unlike the beginning set stuffs, these half decks are simply the exact japanese release appropriated for the korean audience. I don't exactly know what I want to do in this situation quite yet, but if you were to write out the decklists here, I can add them to the page and give you an example of what to do in the future.
As for the Delphox deck, I'm rather confused with why that would have happened. When I bought the deck, there was only one Braixen, so I don't entirely know what's going on. I would love to see a picture, and if you could tell me if yours came with exactly 30 cards/what card wasn't included to have room for that braixen, I'd appreciate it. MaverickNate 18:12, 20 August 2014 (UTC)
Do you have an email address so I could send the photos to you? And I don't think the Xerneas and Yveltal Half Deck are the same - the decklist should be, but it doesn't have the 6 card additional pack, including the Clefairy/Pancham card. CY (talk) 15:18, 21 August 2014 (UTC)
The decklists should have the trainer cards in a different order, but that isn't something that makes the deck significant enough for its own article. as for my e-mail address: [email protected] MaverickNate 18:42, 21 August 2014 (UTC)
I checked the decklist, and its only that the Crushing Hammer and Great Ball are in the other place. Maybe I could mention that it doesn't have the 6-card pack? CY (talk) 06:56, 22 August 2014 (UTC)
Absolutely! Promos are always different in Korea, so it makes sense the pack isn't included. MaverickNate 14:45, 22 August 2014 (UTC)
I've edited it on the page. Did you receive my email? CY (talk) 14:52, 22 August 2014 (UTC)
I did! I'm wondering if they added it later, after noticing the two delphox couldn't evolve without another braixen. That would mean you got 31 cards though. That's weird, to be honest. Could someone else maybe have slipped it in instead of Pokémon Korea? I'm a bit concerned about the whole situation. MaverickNate 15:13, 22 August 2014 (UTC)
Are you sure you don't have an extra one? I could open the Chesnaught one as well to make sure. I know its weird too, and by the way that its in separate packaging, it must have been a last minute change. But why would a third party of any motivation to slip it in, if it wasn't Pokémon Korea? - unsigned comment from Ching Yeung (talkcontribs)
I definitely do not have one. I took a picture of all the cards laid out when I opened the deck last winter, and it only had one Braixen. We can definitely mention which cards are holo in the articles. We could also probably mention that they began including a 31st card in later issues of the product. MaverickNate 15:18, 22 August 2014 (UTC)
Should we find someone else (who may live in Korea) to check? I've never seen a such a situation before. I'd definitely count it as strange. Why add in a card last minute, especially when its after some of the products are already out and sold? CY (talk) 15:20, 22 August 2014 (UTC)
If you want to find someone, feel free, but I honestly think we have enough evidence to make this statement. I can see them fixing it though. It was an error on their part, and they wanted people who bought the deck to be satisfied with their purchase. Having a dead card in the deck isn't a good thing.
We've seen similar things like this happen elsewhere. Like corrected cards in later print runs of cards (Call of Legends Phanpy; Dragons Exalted Hoppip). In my observations, they like to fix issues that come up when they caused them. MaverickNate 15:25, 22 August 2014 (UTC)
I thought you might want a third person to give some hard evidence before changing it, but I guess its ok. I see no other reason for what happened, so it can't be too far off the mark. I'll change it when I'm free. CY (talk) 15:34, 22 August 2014 (UTC)
I'm just not the kind of person to try and ask someone to go spend money on a deck just to confirm an idea I'm having. MaverickNate 15:45, 22 August 2014 (UTC)
I meant to ask someone who has the deck. Anyways, I've changed the ones on Evolution of Froakie and Fennekin; however, I haven't changed the one on Chespin yet, since it says that there isn't a Snubbull. The wording would have to be different, and why was it a Snubbull in this case? Its all so confusing. CY (talk) 07:45, 23 August 2014 (UTC)
I've checked the Evolution of Chespin deck as well, and it really does have an additional Snubbull. Don't you find it funny how the other two decks remove the first evolution of the starter while this deck removes a completely irrelevant card? I've edited all three pages, so their up to date now. Maybe scan it in, but I'm pretty sure its fake - that's too big a difference to be a misprint. CY (talk) 03:11, 10 September 2014 (UTC)

do i scan the image then upload to this text box?

Primal Reversion

Sorry to bug you, but you were the first staff member I found that's online right now. Do you mind making an edit to Primal Reversion, so that Primal Kyogre's ability is Sea of Beginnings and that Primal Groudon's ability is Land of Endings? Thank you so much. Buffbills7701 (talk) 22:32, 10 September 2014 (UTC)

I took care of it! Thanks for alerting me to the needed edit. IF you need anything else, I'm always open. MaverickNate 22:42, 10 September 2014 (UTC)

Team Flare Pokémon Tool cards

Hi Nate. Thought I'd run this by you before I start experimenting. For the Hyper Gear cards, I was going to do what we did with the Team Plasma cards: add a red border and a graphic to the right of the card title with "FLARE". With regards to the "Team Flare Gear" and "Team Flare Hyper Gear" subtitles, I'm not quite sure if we should just apply this to the main English title in small text, or to the Japanese text and translation below as well. This could either be done in small text too, or in square brackets like we did with Pokémon SP. Doing this may shove this onto another line with the "FLARE" graphic, though. This wasn't an issue with Rocket's Secret Machine cards, but since we already have the Item subclass, it's a different kettle of fish here... Let me know on your thoughts. Thanks. ~~nuva-kal 18:21, 13 September 2014 (UTC)

This is a tricky one. Looking at the English Press Release, it would appear they really are only considering the Team Flare Hyper Gear to be the only significantly different ones. The Team Flare Gear, Like Target Whistle and Robo Substitute I would assume would probably be most like Team Galactic's Invention G-109 SP Radar, but (hopefully) without the lengthened name. I think we could probably get away with just including that as Pokémon SP: including it in the Japanese names, and then the illustrator part. Team Flare Hyper Gear, however, are more different. hmmm. Maybe like Team Plasma Badge for the infobox, but the rule change being a TrainerText addition, since it is technically a new class of item, but then also including it in the Japanese names, and then the illustrator part. Does that seem appropriate to you? We can't do too much without knowing the english parts of things. We'll probably have to modify everything then again anyway. Merchandise templates for other languages

Now that the Japanese TCG Era merchandise pages are up to scratch, would it be worth making a jmerch template like the one we already have in place for English merchandise? We could expand this for other languages once we decide how to handle it (kmerch or intmerch, for example). ~~nuva-kal 08:38, 31 October 2014 (UTC)

I've so far made this for the bottom of each article. As for the previous/next at the top, and the merch template that links to products on specific pages, I have a feeling we're going to have to modify the ones that already exist and have them become workable for every language instead of just english. I have ideas for it, but I haven't thought them out completely. 1) Template:merch is such a non-TCG name that we may need to use elsewhere eventually when the merchandise section becomes developed enough. 2) I've been thinking of changing the template to [[{{{1}}} TCG {{{2}}} merchandise#{{{3}}}|{{{3}}}]] where 1 would be XY or Korean BW or German Diamond & Pearl, 2 would be Series or Era for Japanese, and 3 would be the product name. The product name is moved to 3. We can also start being more specific with product names, because of template {{anchor}} under every section, so Furious Fists Blisters, Furious Fists Three Pack Blisters, Furious Fists Two Pack Blisters, Furious Fists Single Pack Blisters, and Furious Fists Checklane Blisters all link to the same section.
The header, I haven't entirely thought about how to modify it at all. MaverickNate 16:11, 31 October 2014 (UTC)
How about modifying it to something called TCGMerch then? Your proposal certainly gives it more scope, and I'd be happy to give you a hand updating the current templates if this is the route to go down. ~~nuva-kal 21:23, 5 November 2014 (UTC)
I appreciate the offer! It will be an annoying undertaking, because of how much we've progressed since the days of the "Collector's Tins" and the "Value Packs and Sets" articles, but very much so worth it, in my opinion. I don't really have a time-frame in mind for doing it, but we could probably start right away on it. Possibly after we're finished with whatever happens with the Japanese update tonight. MaverickNate 01:02, 7 November 2014 (UTC)

In the TCG write-ups

I drafted up a few different ideas for the In the TCG sections for character and item pages. You said you don't much like the boxes, but if they could be collapsed they'd do a better job of listing all the reprints. If those are even relevant enough to be in the section. I also made a mock up for a general merchandise idea that I brought up on the forums awhile ago. Anything look good? glikglak 00:25, 4 November 2014 (UTC)

Well, one of the reasons why we are opting to remove the table is that the reprint information isn't entirely important. The new intent for these sections is to be a brief summary explaining the person's role in the card game, what they do, their significance, etc. The more detailed information is for each specific card page. (And even there, each print is only listed for posterity's sake: it ends up getting hidden when it becomes too overwhelming to do anything with.) Each card's print is very basic info that doesn't really add any substance to the section; which is the kind of info we're trying to evolve from. I would really prefer not seeing the boxes there, if it can be helped.
As for the Charizard page, it has definitely been noticed and enjoyed. The concern with those is how to handle having these pages without much information elsewhere in the encyclopedia. It's definitely a nice start! I'll be bringing it up in the next Editorial Board meeting and I'll get back to you about it afterward. MaverickNate 03:03, 4 November 2014 (UTC)

e-Reader sections on card articles

As I've been going through some of the P Promotional cards, I've noticed were missing some of the e-Reader entries on these. I never realised there were four versions of Kecleon, each with a slightly different Pokédex entry on the Dot Code strip! This got me thinking: would it be worth detailing the card ID(s) somewhere on the card articles, or just for those that warrant it? I've also been thinking of adding an "e-Reader data" section for cards, which would detail the flavour text and incorporate those that already have applications detailed in the Trivia section. I'm not sure on how to handle this for Holofoil cards, since the flavour text is printed below the artwork, but the Non Holofoils have this as Dot Code data plus the Pokédex entry (those I have looked at seem to all come from Pokémon Crystal). ~~nuva-kal 21:23, 5 November 2014 (UTC)

I don't imagine we have to be extremely pedantic about how we list the info, but I think having it all would be pretty neat. Honestly, I believe having the entries just listed how we already list the entries would be fine (feel free to disagree though). As for the e-reader codes, we may have to do something about that, because there are other expansions with a similar issue. EX FireRed & LeafGreen, the code number in the bottom left, Commons have three different numbers and Uncommons have two. I imagine this is the same issue.
I think an e-Reader data section would be a good thing. I just can't think of a good way/reason to split up the Pokédex data between that section and the card text section without it being unnecessary. MaverickNate 01:02, 7 November 2014 (UTC)
I've updated Pikachu and Larvitar to what I had in mind. I think for cards that have Holofoil versions, I will just put the Pokédex data in the e-Reader section as per these articles and mention the species, height, and weight are present on them. ~~nuva-kal 14:44, 8 November 2014 (UTC)
Good ideas all around! I like it. And then you just moved right onto TCGMerch. Daaaamn. Sweet. MaverickNate 20:23, 8 November 2014 (UTC)
I've updated the first 3 cards from Aquapolis to the standard I had in mind. This covers most of the variation we will see. Let me know if it's a bit much, or if anything else needs adding. My only gripe is that the printed info on the card referes to length, and does not have leading zeroes in inches, or any decimals in the weight - it is referred to as height and has the data presented correctly in the actual e-Reader entry. I've left it as height in the section summary, and left the Pokédex data as it was originally. ~~nuva-kal 17:03, 23 November 2014 (UTC)
Oh, I don't think it's a bit much. All the info is there, and it looks nice. I think I would like to see this data about release information though, when applicable. As for length vs height. I looked up some rules team things, and I believe length is to be taken as height in every instance. Personally, I think we should leave the info as it is on the card, and not the "corrected" e-reader data. We can probably just note it somewhere on like, the set pages or something. MaverickNate 21:39, 23 November 2014 (UTC)
I'm more or less there with all of the e-Reader sections. There are still some I'm in the process of doing, and some I won't find out at all - I never realised the Battle Road 2002 trophy cards had Dot Codes! I'm going to spruce up the application articles too. I also wanted to do a list of the e-Card Series card IDs, but I'm not sure how much to put into the table. It warrants the English and Japanese sets, plus set numbers, but I'm not sure if I should include type and rarity as well. ~~nuva-kal 11:20, 9 December 2014 (UTC)
Yeah, it sounds like Type and Rarity aren't entirely necessary. Whatever you'd like to do with this. You're the one with the knowledge and expertise right now with e-reader. MaverickNate 20:31, 9 December 2014 (UTC)

Creating Subcategories

I would like to create a subcategory under "Category:Pokémon Trading Card Game Online" called "Online Exclusive Decks" not unlike the current subcategory "Category:TCGO characters". Current the Online Theme Decks are only subcategorized under "Category:Pokémon Trading Card Game Online Theme Decks" under "Category:Decks". It seems equally intuitive to look for them under "Category:Pokémon Trading Card Game Online". --Marlofkark (talk) 20:57, 11 December 2014 (UTC)

M Pokémon-EX

Is this what we're referring to them as now (as far as I've seen, official wording is spelling out Mega)? Should I start changing them? glikglak 03:03, 13 December 2014 (UTC)

It's the most official rulings-wise. I want to edit the infobox before we start doing any relinking. MaverickNate 03:28, 13 December 2014 (UTC)
Now that we have edited the instances out of the infobox, feel free to relink/move whatever to remove the hyphen. MaverickNate 07:54, 14 December 2014 (UTC)
Gotcha. As a heads up, I skipped over Gardevoir (as I had Trevenant) because I'm not sure if the opening should say "Psychic and Fairy Stage 2" (even though there hasn't been a Fairy-type Stage 2 Gardevoir) or just leave it as is. glikglak 23:42, 14 December 2014 (UTC)
We've "is a Mega M-Pokémon-EX" in the opening sentence for the cards currently. Do you want this "Mega Pokémon-EX" or "M Pokémon-EX"? glikglak 01:31, 15 December 2014 (UTC)
"is an M Pokémon-EX". MaverickNate 01:47, 15 December 2014 (UTC)
I guess the type comes before, so "is a Lightning-type M Pokémon-EX." MaverickNate 01:48, 15 December 2014 (UTC)
You'll probably want to be the one to move Category:M-Charizard-EX Mega Battle Deck cards glikglak 04:06, 15 December 2014 (UTC)

(resetting indent)Your unreleased XY page is the last thing using M-. I also readded the Mega stages. Can I start converting stuff to the Cardtext template or wait for the last few variants to be finished? glikglak 19:23, 24 December 2014 (UTC)

Oh we finished the variants and everything has been moved. Things could have been finished at the same time. Yeah, you can start. There are just a few awkward things that need to be addressed too, if you go through. The opening lines are being corrected. Some leave out the word card at the end. Others didn't have the stage listed. LV.X's seem to be all sorts of weird. If you go through normal cards, none of that should be an issue though. And secondly, cards that are reprinted in a second, different, expansion-pair need to modify their second opening sentence. It was first released as one/part of the whatever. in place of It is one/part of the whatever. (This is not applicable to things like EX's and Full Arts that are printed twice in the same expansion-pair--expansion-pair being my right now made up term for Flashfire/Wild Blaze or Next Destinies/Reshiram-EX Battle Strength Deck sort of thing. only for things that are like, first NXD, then LTR, or first XY3 then XY-P). If you have any questions, come back and I'll help. Also, if you find any other general errors on pages, feel free to fix. I'm trying to make as many widespread necessary changes as possible while we have to go through every card ever for the second time. MaverickNate 19:34, 24 December 2014 (UTC)
Black & White Series though XY whatever I didn't get to Series need to have their Ultra Rare Rarities fixed too. Full Arts are {{rar|Rare Ultra}} and Secrets are {{rar|Rare Secret}}. Phantom Forces and maybe Furious Fists are the only examples I remember that I managed to finish. MaverickNate 19:38, 24 December 2014 (UTC)
I'm assuming simultaneous Japanese releases are considered the same expansion-pair (Flashfire/Wild Blaze/M Charizard-EX Mega Battle Deck), but would the sentence get changed if their were only one English release and multiple Japanese releases? glikglak 19:53, 24 December 2014 (UTC)
We can leave the sentence as is for the second situation you described. Flashfire/Wild Blaze/M Charizard-EX Mega Battle Deck would also be an expansion-pair, so that situation makes the sentence stay the same. Secondly, if you run into any cards with Confuse Ray or Ominous Wind, their jtrans for the attack names needs to be corrected. MaverickNate 19:58, 24 December 2014 (UTC)
Thinking about it more, with situations like Neo Discovery Eevee (Neo Discovery 38), it would be more appropriate to say was first released as imo. The second situation you described should be modified. It doesn't come up too often. Some of these might need a case by case basis, such as most of EX Power Keepers. If you have any you don't know what to do, bring them up with me. MaverickNate 20:02, 24 December 2014 (UTC)
The Cardtext templates don't auto-add the applicable categories, e.g. Category:Cards with Pokémon Powers. Is this intentional and we add them manually? glikglak 14:30, 26 December 2014 (UTC)
I'm keeping track of what we need and I'll be modifying category names when we add them into the templates when the changes are finished. MaverickNate 15:38, 26 December 2014 (UTC)

(resetting indent)Do you have a preference on sentence structures for release info? I was trying to split them by unique print but stay in chronological order. Having one sentence paragraphs looks a bit strange, but I find it stranger that there's an entire paragraph on a Japan-exclusive print with a random final sentence about the original print getting more English releases. glikglak 16:14, 27 December 2014 (UTC)

I prefer to leave paragraphs breaks for when a card is reprinted outside of its first era. MaverickNate 17:45, 27 December 2014 (UTC)
Machamp's release info is a bit different from normal, so I've left it alone. glikglak 22:02, 27 December 2014 (UTC)
Yeah, there are certainly exceptions. I'd just rather there were more actuals than exceptions. MaverickNate 22:42, 27 December 2014 (UTC)
You lost me there. If the alternate holofoil isn't "really" an error, should it get removed from error cards? glikglak 01:12, 28 December 2014 (UTC)
Error cards is an extremely terrible, awful page full of misconceptions and is horrendously incomplete and unresearched. Don't trust anything it says. (I just haven't gone through the 7 days of non stop research to fix that page). Removing it would just be dipping a bucket of water out of the ocean. MaverickNate 02:40, 28 December 2014 (UTC)
Kakuna's Stiffen attack is two characters off from being Harden's Japanese name: is that another case of them using the other alphabet? Some of the trivia on there also looks hinky. glikglak 19:11, 30 December 2014 (UTC)
Well, no. Harden in game is kataku naru, meaning become harder/stiffer/tougher. the attack name for stiffen is katamaru, which means to harden/to stiffen/to toughen. Slightly different, thus Stiffen has been used as the translation as recent as Platinim Series. MaverickNate 16:44, 31 December 2014 (UTC)

Categorizing Japanese Exclusive Decks

As you have seen, I begun to review the various Japanese Exclusive Decks, starting with Half Decks and now starting to move on to others. This leads me to a few questions.

  1. Full Decks seem to have very little rhyme or reason to how they were categorized as they were entered. Some a listed as "TCG theme decks", some as "Decks", and some as "TCG half decks". It seems like "TCG theme decks" is the correct category. Is this correct?
  2. The term "Full Deck" seems to be used most frequently in the text of the various deck articles to reference these decks, rather than "Theme Decks". Which term is preferred as the Bulbapedia standard? Or this there a distinction that I have not identified?
  3. Similarly, the term "Deck kit" seems to be used rather than "Trainer kit". Again, which is the preferred terminology?
  4. I just finished updating list of all Japanese exclusive decks on the Pokémon Trading Card Game article. I just followed the lead of whomever last worked on this section. However, as I turn my attention to the Theme Deck page, I see that the vast majority of what I just added to the Pokémon Trading Card Game article really belong on the Theme Deck page. The non-Japanese section of the Pokémon Trading Card Game article does not list decks at all, only expansions (except for Trainer kits, World Championship Decks, and Promotional Decks). Should there be a more consistent delineation between what info appears on which of these two pages? --Marlofkark (talk) 02:24, 15 January 2015 (UTC)
The correct term for "Full Decks" is most likely Standard Deck. Japan distinguishes Standard Decks and Theme Decks as two separate items, so they shouldn't be grouped together. The same goes for Deck Kit and Trainer Kit (which, much like Theme Decks, are to be treated as proper nouns); Deck Kit being Japanese and Trainer Kit being English. Ultimately, the categories should most likely reflect what type of release they actually are, be it Theme Deck, Half Deck, Starter Deck, Deck Kit, Standard Deck, etc. As for the main Pokémon Trading Card Game article, if I remember correctly, the plan is to have separate articles on each Series/Era of the TCG, and instead of having gigantic blocky lists on that main article, have an overview of what each separate group of releases by Series/Era had brought to the table (linking to the main articles via the sections). The things that you are working on, to be honest, I'm not entirely prepared for, so if things seem hard to decipher within the encyclopedia, I apologize. Your work is helpful, simply my advice might not be. MaverickNate 17:28, 15 January 2015 (UTC)
I appreciate your direction. You decoded things very clearly. Clearly as mud! :O (Nay, I'm I just joking on the mud part). --Marlofkark (talk) 18:59, 15 January 2015 (UTC)
Well, I believe the Japanese exclusive decks are now sorted correctly both by category designation under Category:Decks and on the Theme Deck page. 1.) There still may be a few miss labeled decks that slipped through the cracks but I believe I have caught them all, 2.) I still need to audit the Half deck page verses the now more up-to-date Theme Deck page, and 3.) I intend to create separate pages for the various Japanese exclusive deck types (using the Half Deck page as a template) so as to cut the Theme Deck page back down to a reasonable size -- I just temporarily needed a single location on which to organize. However, after spending several straight days wrangling all these decks, I need a short break from Japanese exclusive decks. --Marlofkark (talk) 13:59, 19 January 2015 (UTC)

Category:Pokémon trading card classifications

As I am sure you noticed, I also spent some time this weekend poking around TCG categories. In so doing, I discovered that Category:Pokémon trading card classifications does not appear under Category:Pokémon Trading Card Game. There does not seem to be a reason why this should be the case when I look at the source data on the Pokémon trading card classifications's category page or follow the category link on Pokémon trading card classifications. Very odd. While I had seen some of the articles listed therein before, I was surprised to find so many articles that I had not previously discovered because the subcategory was undiscoverable under the Pokémon Trading Card Game category. Just thought you should know, because I am sure it is something that can be and probably has been easily overlooked. --Marlofkark (talk) 13:59, 19 January 2015 (UTC)

I'm sorry I'm 11 and this is a nooby question:

Hi I'm Ethan and im eleven (twelve on February 3rd).What is the difference between a normal card and a holographic card? Some of my cards I think might be holographic but I'm not positive. I don't know that I know what that means. I couldn't understand any of the articles I read about them and I was wondering if someone could explain it to me. Also, is the card Plusle with the black promo star rare? It has little light reflector things that look like they are moving when you look at it from different angles, kinda like broken glass. It has HGSS16 by the black promo star. I also don't really understand what the promo thing means, or any of the rarity symbols except for the black circle, black diamond, and black star. I'm sorry about the nooby and unexperienced question and im not expecting an answer since you have a whole section of a wiki to run, but If you have time, please answer my question. Sincerely 608_esaj

(608 esaj (talk) 23:08, 30 January 2015 (UTC))

Hi esaj. Holographic cards (what we call Holofoil cards) are cards that have the light reflecting film on them, like your Plusle. Usually, when we call something a Holofoil card, we mean that it's always holographic, but most cards have a regular version and a special Holofoil version (where the whole card will be reflective, not just the picture; we call it Reverse Holofoil).
Holofoil cards are rarer than regular cards, but the symbols on the bottom aren't always different. The symbols they use nowadays are Common Common, Uncommon Uncommon, Rare Rare, and a silver version of the star (the black symbols are actually white on Dragon and Darkness cards, but they're the same). Cards that are always Holofoil will have either the regular star or the silver star. If it's the regular star, we call it a Rare Holo Rare Holo; if it's the silver star, we call it either Rare Holo ex Rare Holo ex (if it's a PokémonEX), Ultra Rare Rare Ultra (if it's a Full Art card, where the picture covers the whole card) or Secret Rare Rare Secret (if the card has a number above the total number of cards in the set, like 101/100). Cards that have a regular and a Reverse Holofoil version will have the same symbol of circle, diamond, or regular star. Promos don't have symbols on them but are very rare, since you can't find them in booster packs and have to go to certain places or buy certain things to get them. glikglak 00:54, 31 January 2015 (UTC)

Just wanted to let you know this http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Celebi_(Triumphant_92) is the Celebi is the one I was talking about. Thank you glik glak but I still don't really under stand reverse holos. I have a Celebi with 60 hp that does 30 damage and the card has some glittery stuff on the edge of the card, as well as in Celebi's eyes and in the background. Three things: one is that im wondering if this is a reverse holo or a normal holographic card and the second is that this one has a white star in the corner even though it's a grass type and third is there are two numbers by its name (92/102). So what do those numbers mean? Oh and I also have a Suicune with 80 hp that does 50 damage. It's a promo from heart gold and soul silver with the number 21 by it, like my Plusle except my pluses number was 16. Anyway, the Suicune has the same glittery design as my Celebi. Is it a reverse holo? I also have a Ditto that has the part where the moves are listed metallic and shiny but the picture with Ditto in it is plain and so is the yellow outline. Is that a reverse holo? Then I have a Nidoking who has the background in the picture glittery but not the pokemon itself or the outline of the card or anything else. Is it holographic or is it something else? And also what does the shadow or no shadow or whatever mean because I have 2 Cards with some sort of Asian language on it (from what I've read probably Japanese or Korean) and they have some shadows that I saw circled on a website with an articuno and I don't know if that's rare or not. I also recently bought an XY- Phantom forces expansion and inside the box was a card list. In the key of that card list were some things I didn't understand like what is a standard set, a standard foil set, or a parallel set. What is the difference between a level X and an ex? I'm sorry I know that's a lot of questions but I really like pokemon I just don't understand it that well. I want to be one of those kids who has a 1000 cards and can tell people about how rare they are. I know it probably won't happen because I don't have nearly enough money to buy 1000 pokemon cards but that's still what I want. With $6 a week allowance I can buy one of those box things with 60 pokemon every 2 weeks and then I can start buying more valuable cards off eBay and Amazon and stuff. Anyway, thank you for answering my holos question. I actually ended up writing the answer down so I don't forget. Sincerely 608 esaj (talk) 12:56, 31 January 2015 (UTC)

Can someone tell me if this Sudowoodo is fake? I think it is because of different font, more yellow rim on one side than the other, the back looks darker, and the first letter of the illustrators name is lowercase. I put a Venonat next to it to compare. Also the Sudowoodo is very flimsy and bends easier than the Venonat. However there are no spelling mistakes and light does pass right through it.608 esaj (talk) 18:31, 31 January 2015 (UTC)

Lol I took 2 pictures of it but I don't know how to show them here 608 esaj (talk) 18:32, 31 January 2015 (UTC)

The easiest way to find which cards you have is to look on the Pokémon's list of cards, like Celebi (TCG). Even if you don't know what set it came from, the set numbers should be enough to figure it out (the numbers at the bottom right of the card; the first one is the number of the card and the second is the total number of cards in the expansion). Reverse Holos are really easy to tell because the whole card background reflects (some older cards had the background and the picture reflect); if only certain parts of the card reflects, it's not Reverse Holo. The white star was what they used before the silver star and like the silver star cards, we use a couple different symbols for them. Chances are your Sudowoodo is fake, the biggest reason being that no artist that spells their name lowercase has drawn a Sudowoodo card. I don't know what you're referring to about the shadows or the Phantom Forces card list, unfortunately. glikglak 20:09, 1 February 2015 (UTC)
The artists name on the questionable Sudowoodo is (and this is exactly the way it is on the card) kouki Saitou. The set number is 48/100. And I did some research and what I meant with shadows was shadowless cards but I understand them now. Also what's the difference between a level X and an ex card? And also what do you mean by the background. I know that's a really stupid question but you said my Plusle is holographic and the background on that reflects light so wouldn't it be reverse holo? 608 esaj (talk) 20:36, 1 February 2015 (UTC)
To indent, use colons (:). The more colons, the more it indents. The background is the part that's not the picture or the border; it's the color of the card's type and has all the attacks on it. Pokémon LV.X does a pretty good job on explaining the differences between them and Pokémon-ex (and Pokémon-EX, which are different from Pokémon-ex). If you mean the rarity symbols we use, both ex and LV.X used the white star (some ex were before the white star began being used and just used the regular star) but weren't actually the same rarity as each other or other cards that used the same symbols, so we had to come up with different symbols. glikglak 03:40, 2 February 2015 (UTC)

Turns out this Celebi http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Celebi_(Triumphant_92) is the one I was talking about. Just wanted to show what I was talking about. Here's the Suicune.http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Suicune_(HGSS_Promo_21) 608 esaj (talk) 03:54, 2 February 2015 (UTC)

Southern Islands

I am wondering why the Southern Islands Pokemon Trading Card Game Expansion is not included in the List of Pokemon Trading Card Game expansions page? This expansion is marked by a palm tree. I have a Raticate and Jigglypuff from this expansion and was wondering what expansion it was from luckily Wikipedia had it. Also I have cards that are labeled by a pokeball and a number like 30 something. What are those from?

ALE241996 (talk) 13:18, 17 February 2015 (UTC)

That'd be because Southern Islands is a promotional set, not an expansion. Same as the POP Series, which are the cards with the Poké Ball and numbers on them. glikglak 14:40, 17 February 2015 (UTC)

Card image sources

I'm not really sure where exactly the line lies for an acceptable source for Pokemon card images. I found an eBay listing for all of the Pokémon Colosseum Double Battle e cards with very nice pictures, but I'm not sure if it would be okay to just copy those pictures and upload them here. Could you enlighten me? Tiddlywinks (talk) 07:25, 20 February 2015 (UTC)

I don't know what Project Games wants for e-reader scans, but if it were Project TCG, I would ask politely if the ebay user would be kind enough to donate the scans for use here, with credits and links on each image's summary section. MaverickNate 18:55, 20 February 2015 (UTC)

Pokémon Shuffle Pokédex Page

I asked SnorlaxMonster whether my project page and its associated template can now be moved, and he has yet to get back to me. Other than changing the name of the template to something like "ShDex" (since Sdex is reserved for Sinnoh) and perhaps getting the icon images used in Shuffle, what is your assessment? Can these be moved for now or is other work still needed? Other than creating ability pages (which I can do if we do that), there's not much more to do other than add any new content in the future. Page move request

Hey Maverick Nate, I was wondering if you could move some pages for me (I can't move pages with them leaving redirects behind). The pages are all Glitch Pokémon from Gen I: ゥ► ゥ▼ ゥ should be "ゥ► ゥ▼ ゥ (EE)", ゥ $ A (F3) should be "ゥ► ゥ▼ ゥ (F3)", ゥ 4ぁ 4 should be "ゥ 4- 4", and ゥ 4ぁ 4's redirect page should be "ゥ 4- 4 (Pokémon)". I have the information to update the List of glitch moves but these should be moved first to avoid problems later. Thanks. Adamws (talk) 02:29, 25 March 2015 (UTC)

To be honest, I don't entirely feel comfortable doing anything with glitches. Would you be able to ask someone else for me? MaverickNate 03:00, 25 March 2015 (UTC)
Sure thing. Adamws (talk) 03:05, 25 March 2015 (UTC)

Contact Please

Greetings,

So I'm new here and not fully sure how to go about doing this. However, I would like to discuss something with you in private (I didn't know if there was a PM function, couldn't find it) and would greatly appreciate it if you could message me in some capacity. Thank you for your time.

Sincerely, Rock08g

English Cards

I have some cards that you only have pictures of in Japanese in English, such as M Gallade EX and a few more from Roaring Skies, I hope you see my post as this is the first time I've posted on Bulbapedia. Please contact me at [email protected] Sincerely, RichardMineall (talk) 12:32, 29 May 2015 (UTC)

Edit Summary Question

I didn't know where to ask this question so I figured I'd just ask a member of staff. In most edit summaries I can see a blue link arrow with a bit of grey italic text indicating the edited section. I haven't found anything explaining how to do this, so if you could let me know how to add that I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks! RetroKitty (talk) 01:08, 11 June 2015 (UTC)

It's something that happens automatically if you edit a specific section of a page. I'm not entirely sure if there is a way to do it manually. MaverickNate 14:21, 11 June 2015 (UTC)
The format is technically just a result of the "/*" and "*/" enclosing the section title. You can basically put them anywhere you want, the only real restriction I know is that it only works once at a time in an edit summary. At any rate, if you're curious, you can always play with your edit summary and preview/show changes to see what happens to the format. Tiddlywinks (talk) 14:33, 11 June 2015 (UTC)

Moves not in the Pokémon games, TCG moves

You say the moves that were removed are in the games. Forgive me, but I can't tell how exactly. And if I can't, I wager others wouldn't understand it immediately either. Could you clarify this for me?

If you are set on excluding those moves, I think it may be necessary to add some explanation on the page saying exactly why certain moves are not included in the list even though they are indeed not, strictly speaking, in the games (similar to the way that it is explained that some moves may have been introduced later in the games, but some may also not actually have been the same, like Pidgeot's Hurricane). Tiddlywinks (talk) 19:51, 11 June 2015 (UTC)

The Japanese names match, thus they are moves from the games. Consider this: someone who knows and uses the Japanese kana for each name sees that the page is listing Clefable's Meteor Mash for whatever reason, even though it is from the game. Each origin section should offer an explanation on why they were removed. Now, I admit that some of the ones removed were based on origin speculation (which shouldn't be listed on card pages anymore), and those should actually be listed. Translational errors such as Clefable's Meteor Mash have a separate place away from that page. The TCG section of that page is extremely far from its eventual final version, and honestly, it doesn't entirely matter the journey we take to get there. MaverickNate 20:06, 11 June 2015 (UTC)
I see, no wonder I got confused. I did try checking some of the Japanese, like Soothing Scent, but noticed that it wasn't the same as any Japanese game moves; that must be one of the instances those shouldn't have been removed. (It's almost made weirder by the fact that both Plunder and Soothing Scent (at least) were removed once, but are still listed for other cards.) Tiddlywinks (talk) 20:28, 11 June 2015 (UTC)

Ancient Origins Theme Deck articles

Hi Maverick Nate. So you know, as I have done for every set since Furious Fists, I have created two articles for the Ancient Origins Theme Decks in my userspace. They can be found at User:MetalMetroid997/Metagross Theme Deck (TCG) and User:MetalMetroid997/Regirock Theme Deck (TCG). MetalMetroid997 (talk) 08:29, 15 June 2015 (UTC)

Hi Maverick Nate. Thought I should let you know that the English names for the Ancient Origins Theme Decks have been revealed. The Metagross Theme Deck is Iron Tide, while the Regirock Theme Deck is Stone Heart. [1] MetalMetroid997 (talk) 12:01, 1 July 2015 (UTC)

Sleeping Pikachu Collection

I asked SnorlaxMonster, but have been thinking and realize you might be the better person to ask.

Earlier, I linked the Gen. IV Sleeping Pikachu entry to Sleeping Pikachu Collection, which was a 2009 collection that it was meant to promote. I then noticed that the article you created only covers the 2014 collection. I looked up the Bulbanews 2009 collection source and noticed they have unique items, but the same overworked Pikachu. Can the page be converted to include both and the link I added later changed to include an anchor?

If you don't have time to add it yourself but know where I can get the 2009 collection info, I can also add it when I have an opportunity. Interestinglyu, someone took video of the 2009 collection which appears on Youtube dated around the time of the collection being released, but I don't think the quality is good enough to see price tags there, so we still need a pricing source. The page linked in the article has ceased to exist. CycloneGU (talk) 04:15, 24 July 2015 (UTC)
