Yeah, I'll give credit to you, for sure, though i was thinking of the first big one the page that also shows your custom trainer sprite. Hi...

I was wondering if you could help me out with something. The article Serebii.net forums has been under strict protection since 2005. It serves little purpose, and any information it contains could easily be merged into the Serebii.net article. I was wondering if you could help by deleting the article because of your admin status.

Thanks --MiekL94 22:47, 20 March 2009 (UTC)

Merged what was even useful, and redirected to Serebii.net. - Kogoro | Talk to me - 23:06, 20 March 2009 (UTC)

Concerning anti-gunjump measures for the dub...

Setting protection to expire at around 10:00 UTC (the standard time for Japanese-based anti-gunjump measures) for a dub-based anti-gunjump measure is just begging for gun-jumpers to take advantage of a three-hour window. The dub episodes premiere at 9:00 AM Eastern, which corresponds to 13:00 UTC during DST and 14:00 UTC when DST is not in effect. I've already adjusted the protections for DP101 to fit with the dub airtime, but keep this in mind for the future. --Shiningpikablu252 14:23, 28 March 2009 (UTC)

I was matching the time placed on Jun, that was there at the time. Please note I don't get Cartoon Network, as I am not an American, and don't keep track of stations I do not have any ability to watch. The initial mistake was not mine, as I can see you have noticed and acted upon. - Kogoro | Talk to me - 05:42, 29 March 2009 (UTC)

Archives

I noticed a few efficient changes you made to the Archives--I haven't had time to make any new/recent contribs, et al--But I would like to help clean up the Archives a bit. How do I go about getting sufficiently privileged to help with the organization? Kusanagi87 22:08, 29 March 2009 (UTC)

  1. Work hard.
  2. Work really hard.
  3. Do really good work.
  4. Don't edit the userspace on any Bulbawiki too much.
  5. Don't ask how to get privileges/user rights.
And yeah... Just show that you deserve it, without asking about it. It's not going to happen overnight, but if you can prove yourself to the Editorial Board, it may happen eventually. There are still things you can do as a regular user though. There's a lot of images that need replacing due to quality standards, that would be a great place to start helping out :D - Kogoro | Talk to me - 22:17, 29 March 2009 (UTC)
I believe we have a lot of images that are uncategorized as well; if you find an image category that doesn't seem to have every image in it, that's definitely something we could use help on in the Archives. -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 22:56, 29 March 2009 (UTC)
Do I need to get certain categories approved before I go about creating them? I was thinking the archives should have file naming standards. It is a noticeable pain in the ass to get proper results from image searches; as people put irrelevant info in the summary or give bad nomenclature for the actual file name. It would be infinitely easier to categorize images if they turned up easier/accurately on searches. Furthermore, if there were stricter rules for how people upload, the chaotic shit storm that is the Archives can be controlled NOW. Just random thoughts, BTW. Also, I could care less about any admin status/privileges--there were just some actions that I wanted to take within the archives that I wanted to initiate that were inhibited due to the lack of higher clearance(s). Kusanagi87 04:58, 30 March 2009 (UTC)
If there is something you cannot do on the forums, leave a message on the appropriate talk page and an administrator will get onto it. And as for the standard file names, that is a work in progress. Categories should be generally straight forward, but it may be best to check with Maverick Nate before doing that, as he is the "boss" over there. For list of all categories, see a:Special:Categories. — THE TROM — 07:16, 30 March 2009 (UTC)

Edit-waring

I am sorry that I caused a lot of strife over this, it's just that it seemed wrong for someone to remove that piece of trivia in the first place just because said user didn't agree with it. My entire argument was "That my be your opinion and that's alright, but it's not everyone's view so it should stay." I realise how ironic that sounds, but I still stand for this. Sorry for being a bother! Fossilgojira 15:42, 31 March 2009 (UTC)

Show Hide

I'v been wondering how to show hide stuff, if you would't mind telling me i'd like to know.Pikawitchu 18:19, 5 April 2009 (UTC)

Just use:

{| width="100%" class="expandable"
|
Title for the expandable section should go here.
|-
|
The content you want to be show/hide should then go here
|}

You might have to play with it a little depending on what you're trying to show/hide. Usually if it's already a coded table (like the Welcome that is put on everyone's talk page) you can usually just add class="expandable" to the table's head code and it will become expandable. - Kogoro | Talk to me - 23:29, 5 April 2009 (UTC)

Kogoro, your page looks awesome, so i'd like to ask you something: (1.) how can i make my page look black and gray with white text, and (2.) how do i put images in my signature? And i wanna know if we can be friends, too. You seem real nice. And you have a lot of style. - unsigned comment from Jbtm (talkcontribs)

Alpha, Jbtm is blocked... He was a sockpuppet of a user blocked for insubordination, so telling him to sign his messages is kinda pointless. ^_^; On the mention of friends. How do I make my page blue with black borders? Alpha Totodile 18:04, 19 April 2009 (UTC)

I disagree with this rationale

Shouldn't it be "As long as there are no problems with disruptive edits (either actual edits or damage control), pages don't need protection"? --Raijinili 08:22, 20 April 2009 (UTC)

It's protected because it doesn't need to be edited.--FF(editstalk) 08:24, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
That obviously wasn't the case in the last few hours. --Raijinili 08:36, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
If it wasn't protected, what will you edit on it.--Clarky13 08:40, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
Hardly the point. There's no evidence that vandalism is a problem on that page, and if there is a sudden wave of vandalism, that page isn't high-profile enough to be a cause for preemptive concern (since it's not high-profile at all). --Raijinili 08:50, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
Raijinili, did you not notice that before that, TTEchidna protected it with the rationale of "Until we decide to bring these back. Which will likely be sometime soon after PtUS is announced.". Since they are not being opened for now, the protection is now indefinite. There is no need for anyone who is not an admin to edit the page until we decide to re-open them. Quit complaining. - Kogoro | Talk to me - 08:42, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
Don't talk to me as if I was ignorant about the suspension of the process when the only reason you remembered this page was because I updated the page indicating the suspension of the process.
And while you can say "I can see no need for a non-admin to edit the page at this time", I can say "There is no need whatsoever to lock the page other than the fact that no one can see a need to not lock it." --Raijinili 08:50, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
Why are you making a big deal out of it anyway, it's protect, who cares.--FF(editstalk) 08:53, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
Raijinili, please don't edit above another comment.--Clarky13 08:57, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
Despite my red ink, I'm not a newbie, Clarky. If you're going to claim I'm doing something wrong, show me where it says it's wrong. That's a thread style: to edit, indented, under the person you're responding to, with one more indent than the comment (even if it's the same level as another's response to the same comment). It's the way most naturally suited to a wiki, since quotes are cumbersome and responses can be read right underneath what they're responding to.
Force Fire: I'm "making a big deal about it" because this seems to me to be an indication that there's a consensus to lock when it's not necessary either way. --Raijinili 09:06, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
Um.... I think you've completely missed the point here, Raiji. While it is an unwritten policy to protect most Bulbapedia-space pages from normal editing (as they are mostly based on the administration of the wiki), you appear to be complaining about the point that you've helped us out by pointing out something we've forgotten. Wowza! Yay! Kudos to you! So please please please stop making a fuss about all of this. You say you aren't a new user, yet you clearly haven't been here long enough to pick up on some of the more subtle intricacies of the management here. I have only one thing to say to you, passed down from the Echidna to me, and now to you: LURK MOAR. — THE TROM — 09:51, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
My first edit is over a year before yours, if you want to talk about how long people have been here. Would you like to try my number of mainspace contributions instead? Either way, it's an ad hominem argument, and you haven't actually addressed my point: There's no reason to lock topics not in danger of vandalism and which wouldn't harm the Wiki much even if they were vandalized. "It's the way we've been doing it" is as good a reason for this as it is for, say... y'know, there are just way too many ways that sentence can end, it's ridiculous.
And I stated why I'm doing this: because it indicates a trend of unnecessary preemptive locking. --Raijinili 12:44, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
What reason is there to NOT have it protected? Any edits made to the page by anyone other then an administrator would either be spelling corrections (which aren't currently needed), or redlink fixing (which also isn't currently needed). The only time it will be updated will be when administration decides to re-open nominations, and as such, only an administrator should be editing the page. With the page protected, this makes it impossible for anyone to make a mistake.
Just to make it perfectly clear, we are discussing whither or not a currently unused page should be protected from edits. That is, a page that needs no editing currently, and further, should not be edited currently. If you still see a reason why this needs to be unprotected, then by all means, let us know. -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 16:54, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
The preemptive locking ensures that the page can not be vandalized or changed in anyway. We dont want people to go and vote for old nominations, or continue discussions there. We dont want people changing the policies of the site. and why would they need to be unlocked? why do you need to edit a page thats official policy, or a nomination from months ago? And BTW, when you first edited doesnt mean crap. The Quality of your edits does.User:DCM 16:57, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
Jio: I can accept "mistakes" as a reason.
DCM: Pay attention. Trom specifically challenged me about my newness. You're taking the "first edit" links out of context. --Raijinili 03:45, 21 April 2009 (UTC)
As a page within the Bulbapedia: namespace, it's not a page in need of updates or fixing from anyone other then Bulbapedia staff. The admins here are more then capable of fixing mistakes themselves.
The nominations page falls into the same category as our policies and guidelines (one could say the nominations page is a "nominations policy"), and as a general rule, those pages are all protected just to be completely safe. The nominations page only needs to be open to edits when nominations are open, and currently, they're not. So the page will remain protected. -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 17:55, 22 April 2009 (UTC)

Broken SVGs?

(Not sure who to ask for this, so if you could point me in the right direction, that'd be great. ^_^) I've traced a number of TCG expansion symbols in Illustrator, and was thinking of uploading them all as SVGs, which is sort of like what Wikipedia likes to do for this kind of thing, except that the image previews turn out broken, making them useless in every practical sense. I don't know if this is a Wikia issue or what, but is it possible to fix? --Alamedyang (talk) 15:57, 30 April 2009 (UTC)

SVGs don't work with the Bulbawikis. I'm not exactly sure why, but I think it is due to an extension not being installed, or something to that degree. So, as far as I know, it has nothing to do with Wikia, or Wikipedia. Also, what do you mean by "traced a number of TCG expansion symbols"? If the images aren't official release, I'm pretty sure they shouldn't be used in articles unless they're set symbols we don't have any way of obtaining. I'd suggest talking to Maverick Nate about your images and see if he wants them to use, if he does, you would need to upload them in PNG format. - Kogoro | Talk to me - 16:40, 30 April 2009 (UTC)
Okay, thanks. What I meant by "traced" is that I took a huge scan of a card, like at 600 DPI, and very carefully traced a vector version of the expansion symbol. I dunno. I just thought vector > bitmap for stuff like this. But I'll talk to Maverick Nate. Thanks for your help! :) --Alamedyang (talk) 16:58, 30 April 2009 (UTC)

I need to ask your permission before even trying to use it. --Alpha TotodileFREE BIRD!! 11:56, 6 May 2009 (UTC)
I have no issues with you using it, just remember to give the credit to where you got it. If you do have issues, perhaps save the page, then ask me to try and fix them? I can't fix something that I can't see & work with. - Kogoro | Talk to me - 21:26, 7 May 2009 (UTC)
I've saved it, now can I ask you a favor and fix it? Go here. --Alpha TotodileFREE BIRD!! 22:44, 7 May 2009 (UTC)
I see what you were doing now. Just by putting {{User:Alpha Totodile/Template|etc.}} into the page won't work. That's why you got the big bold "User:Alpha Totodile/Template". You needed to take the code from my template, then modify the colors as you wanted, and add the links to the links bar. I hope that it's the way you wanted it now. - Kogoro | Talk to me - 23:17, 7 May 2009 (UTC)
Thank you so much! I'll wait until tomorrow to add the AT:NFA subpage and work on the party page, since I've done my four userspace edits today. BTW, have you heard that electAbuzzzz returned? --Alpha TotodileFREE BIRD!! 23:35, 7 May 2009 (UTC)

Hello!! xD I guess I don't have to ask you anymore since you have already given the permission to use things you've done, so... Well I'm only letting you know I'll use a lot of your stuff and of course I'll credit you xD You're kinda one of my heroes, too. (If you're wondering, don't, it's just a phrase few would understand, anyway) Thanks!! :P I know we shouldn't bug administrators much, that's why I'm only telling you, you don't need to reply ;D YukitoOoO 01:51, 2 June 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, that template looks much better than the tower of partial links that were there before. You seemed to have an unneeded set of moz borders on the Hoenn Series, I removed those, but everything else looks good. - Kogoro | Talk to me - 01:50, 13 May 2009 (UTC)

Rounded corners. Compare the original, and my edit, and you should notice misplaced rounded corners on the original. - Kogoro | Talk to me - 02:38, 13 May 2009 (UTC)
Got it.
New thing. See right. Found from Famitsu. Like it? Make transparent, and all should be happy. ht14 22:20, 13 May 2009 (UTC)
If possible don't. We might end up with something people might think is a beta sprite, like Tavis's Skymin sprite. Keep the scan though just in case. tc²₆tc26 08:21, 14 May 2009 (UTC)
Well, the image itself is JPG format, and has really bad artifacts. If there was a better image of the magazine scan, we might be able to make it transparent for use when we know if it's either a beta or a full-use sprite. But, cause of the problems with the image, there's not much I can do that will make it remotely sprite-like, sorry. - Kogoro | Talk to me - 08:28, 14 May 2009 (UTC)
I'm pretty sure it's the actual, but I made it so it's PNG format. See the same pic. Change. ht14 04:18, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
Image is still far too fuzzy and low-quality to use for a sprite, magazine scans aren't the greatest things to try and pull sprites from. We have to wait for proper sprite quality images and we probably won't see anything like those, barring fakes, until close to, or after, the release of the games in Japan. - Kogoro | Talk to me - 04:26, 28 May 2009 (UTC)

I assume you mean the HP bar at the top of his talk page? First, I would suggest asking him if he doesn't mind you using the template. She already removed it, and yeah, {{img}} should be deleted. Does anyone even use it? --Alpha TotodileRWAR!! 00:12, 16 May 2009 (UTC)
I am not going to delete {{img}}. You want to know why, Prmatt? {{img}} is a good, and useful link template. It's used to link to the archives, without using the image, very useful for talk page & policy use. Now, when a member of the editorial board deletes a template you made, don't recreate it. - Kogoro | Talk to me - 00:16, 16 May 2009 (UTC)
I didn't know it was that useful. If you say so, we'll keep it. --Alpha TotodileRWAR!! 00:20, 16 May 2009 (UTC)
Well, you could type LOOK A BULBASAUR which is, hmm... 16 characters less that TTEchidna's post for my template, which doesn't include size.--Mew a.k.a. Prmatt11 at 00:27, 16 May 2009 (UTC)
Ah, but {{img}} is used for linking to the archives w/o an image, just like Kogoro said. No matter how much you want {{img}} deleted, it's staying. Why? CUZ KOGS SAID SO. What's that got to do with anything? SHE'S AN ADMIN, AND A MEMBER OF THE EDITORIAL BOARD. Which simply means she's smarter than you. --Alpha TotodileRWAR!! 00:35, 16 May 2009 (UTC)

I've only reverted once, and since then have left both of their changes in place while I moved discussion over to the Talk pages of the respective articles. Please feel free to read my points and decide for yourself whether what I removed only once, and only reverted once (which is clearly not reason enough to block) deserves to stay. Thank you. Redstar 23:08, 16 May 2009 (UTC)
I don't think a block is necessary at this time. Redstar and I are having a civilized dicussion on one of the points that prompted this notice. Let's wait a moment to see what transpires before handing out punishment, I think. Kevin Y (talk) 05:25, 17 May 2009 (UTC)

It's been barely minutes since Trom's last message, so the messages were obviously overlooked. It's hardly fair to revoke privileges immediately after a warning. ~ solaris 00:04, 19 May 2009 (UTC)
There's a bar at the top of the page when you get a new message. She should have read those messages, she had no reason not to overlook those warnings. She continued to edit her userpage. --AT 00:06, 19 May 2009 (UTC)
That doesn't mean you have to spaz over every single new member who makes a mistake. R.A. Hunter Blade 00:12, 19 May 2009 (UTC)
Makes a mistake? She had no reason not to read the warnings. She continued to edit her userpage on purpose. --AT 00:17, 19 May 2009 (UTC)
Just because you think it's on purpose doesn't mean it was. I'll have 4 or 5 tabs that I'm working on open at the same time and close them immediately after saving the changes without looking at anything else. Although I see where you're going, you still have no right in doing that to every single new user over the past week or two. R.A. Hunter Blade 00:26, 19 May 2009 (UTC)
Okay, guys... Please to be calming down... Her userspace privileges have been revoked for a while. But, AT, you need to drop the adrenaline level when informing people about the rules. Your message on her talk page was not very civil. And please, if the user makes a userspace edit really close to when a warning was given, please don't re-warn. The user was likely editing while the warning was given, so the new messages bar would have most likely only shown after their edit was saved. - Kogoro | Talk to me - 00:49, 19 May 2009 (UTC)

Re: Snorlax

You totally missed the point.

I forgot that a special item had to be held by snorlax to breed a baby form, where with Pikachu normal breeding produced a baby form. somewhere in my thinking process i must have been focused on how a Pikachu and Pichu are and forgot that doesn't fully apply to a Snorlax and munchlax/

Despite not having ever been shown evolving on screen, Its common sense that Ash's Pikachu had to of evolved from a Pichu. I just got mixed up and put something without thinking it through. It was a miscalculation on my part, However that doesn't warrent flaming and people butting in.

I got blocked for what could be called taunting, which is the same thing Psycho was doing. Also Sketch didn't get on me for acting like i had authority to give a warning. Everyone had some extent of authority in warnings. He was just stating that since i got blocked for a similar thing that i'm not the best person to get on psycho for that. Its the kettle calling the pot black.

You might want to stay out of these types of things, because when you jump in late it leads to trouble and misunderstandings. Its like trying to talk to someone about spiderman 3 when you only saw the last 4 minutes. Yami 18:21, 8 June 2009 (UTC)

No, you missed the point Yami. The point is this: What you added did not belong, it was speculation. It does not belong on other anime Pokémon pages either unless the previous form is shown. Common sense doesn't matter. In technicality, yes Pikachu probably did evolve from a Pichu, but unless officially stated that such evolution occurred, it does not get mentioned. (Especially since Pikachu was introduced in EP001, during Gen 1, before Pichu were even known. Did every Pikachu in Red, Blue, Green & Yellow evolve from a Pichu?)
You did get blocked for taunting, PR's edit summary was not taunting in the least. Maybe if he said "Hahaha, you're an idiot. No proof Snorlax was ever a Munchlax" it would have been, but he didn't, so his edit summary was fine. Also, his name is PsychicRider not Psycho, or anything of the sort. Some could consider you calling him "Psycho" as harassment.
Now, as a member of the Editorial Board I think I have every right to get involved to stop pointless discussions that should have ended many many comments ago. So, no, I will not stay out of it. You should watch who you tell to stay out of things, it might bite you sometime. - Kogoro | Talk to me - 18:41, 8 June 2009 (UTC)

Re

I know that I've to change my number of DAILY userspace edits, but I have to change my userpage everyday for my next episodes section, sry. And for mainspace edits i havent't got time because pokewiki is working again. --×Impoleon xy× 19:28, 11 June 2009 (UTC)

Well, you should be able to do that with a single edit per day. Edit the entire page, not section by section. But you still do have to offset your userspace edits with mainspace edits. Sorry, but we're an encyclopedia, we need our users making edits to the encyclopedic articles more than their personal pages. - Kogoro | Talk to me - 19:32, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
Well, I'm very sorry about having no time for bulbapedia, but I'm just one person and I can't do everything. I try to help so much I can. --×Impoleon xy× 19:42, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
you certainly do have time for BP if you have the time to make 30 userspace edits in one month. i think what you ought to do is re-evaluate your position here, and realize that editing the userspace is a privilege and we have the right and ability to take it away whenever we feel we must. now, if you want to edit at Pokewiki, you go right ahead, but if youre here to just screw around in the userspace, then dont bother coming at all. -- MAGNEDETH 20:00, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
Ok, I'll reduce my personal edits on one per day and I'll do a few normal edits, ok? I will go on working here really efficient, but this will take some time, until pokewiki is uptodate. --×Impoleon xy× 20:11, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
Wtf? I have really reduced my personal padge's edits, but this isn't enough? I did only one to two (if it was neccessary) and that's too much? 0o I can't understand your argumentation. How should I offset my edits, if I can't do some because I'm blocked. I'm really pissed. -.- --×Impoleon xy× 11:28, 30 June 2009 (UTC)
Reduction was half of what you needed to do. To offset your userspace edits, you need to make edits in the mainspace. While you can't edit the user: namespace, you can easily do actual work in the mainspace for a while to offset all of those userspace edits you have made this month. Your personal page never needs updates, you desire to update. But, when you are updating it 1-2 times per day, every day, without making as much as a daily mainspace edit... Come on, really? We had a time back in 2008 when nobody could edit their userpages because there were people making many per day, or only editing the userspace while they were here. I don't think anyone wants to see that entire namespace block go back in place. - Kogoro | Talk to me - 19:18, 30 June 2009 (UTC)

Okay, I'm mostly freaking out with all the shit that has fucked me over this past week, and I need you to curb a little bit of it for me. Would it be possible to get as many of the images for the new cards as you can? Apparently, the remaining Arceus cards have been released, and I would appreciate it if you can get those for me. Also, could you try to e-mail Cipher (I am unable to at my current location) and get the SP M image? That will help me fantastically. I will try to deal with as much as I can when I get home tomorrow night, and hopefully get things under control for Advent. Thanks in advance, and this is probably my last response, so good luck. Those HGSS color templates...

Why'd you change them? just curious. --αワニノコ 22:41, 26 June 2009 (UTC)

Because when someone was making the dark & light colors for both, they were done improperly. I was restoring one of the base colors to the original version, then fixing the modified versions to normal standards with the originals. I don't think you really need to be asking me why I changed something... - Kogoro | Talk to me - 22:47, 26 June 2009 (UTC)

"Kay, stop. NOW. Or you'll get 4 days off for edit warring, and another 2 days for non-article related discussion."

Oh, yeah? 1) How is asking why something should be included in an article, a non-article related discussion? 2) What rule did my comment break? What warranted it being edited out? - Spideym 04:45, 6 July 2009 (UTC)

  1. Read the reason it was removed in the first place. Your comment has nothing to do with bettering the article, it's just your opinion, that falls under non-related discussion.
  2. Read #1 all over again until you understand.
  3. Edit warring is bad. If your comments gets removed by a sysop you should ask that sysop why they removed it. Don't restore it with a jerkish edit summary, kay?
- Kogoro | Talk to me - 04:55, 6 July 2009 (UTC)

1. Where was the opinion? That incest and pedophilia are wrong is an opinion?

And I didn't say "Remove these shippings right away". I asked why we must list shippings that promote taboo practices. Last time I checked, asking the logic in including something in an article is a valid comment.

2. I ask again. What rule did I break? After reading that, I still fail to see what I did that goes against that page's rules. I didn't attack anyone, edit someone else's comment, left my comment unsigned, or made an article-unrelated comment.

3. Okay. I fail to see how writing "You don't help the article" as the reason for editing the comment I wrote asking a question, without telling me what I did wrong, is any less of a "jerkish edit summary" than was my answer to the edit, though.

- Spideym 05:37, 6 July 2009 (UTC)
