Attention: Before you post

Since this has happened repeatedly, here is a list of Pokémon belonging to rivals/recurring in the anime that I wish you would not ask me about making them in your userspace. These Pokémon did have articles before but the Editorial Board agreed upon them being merged into the Trainer's article. Here is the list:

  • Gary's Nidoking
  • Gary's Nidoqueen
  • Drew's Flygon
  • Drew's Masquerain
  • Drew's Absol
  • Drew's Butterfree
  • Harley's Banette
  • Harley's Ariados
  • Harley's Octillery
  • Harley's Wigglytuff
  • Paul's Azumarill
  • Paul's Stantler
  • Paul's Weavile
  • Paul's Gliscor
  • Paul's Ninjask
  • Paul's Drapion
  • Barry's Heracross
  • Zoey's Mismagius
  • Nando's Sunflora
  • Kenny's Alakazam
  • Kenny's Breloom
  • Ursula's Plusle and Minun
  • Casey's Elekid
  • Happy - Ritchie's Butterfree
  • Cruise - Ritchie's Pupitar
  • Rose - Ritchie's Taillow
  • Volkner's Raichu
  • Volkner's Luxray

There are more than this, but most of the others were Gym Leader/Elite Four/Frontier Brain Pokémon and I have yet to be asked about recreating them.

If you would be so kind, try to avoid asking about these Pokémon. The main reason being the obvious one: they were already here and deemed unnotable. The second is about history preservation for the articles that were redirected and not deleted before then. If the decisions were to ever be overturned, the redirects that exist now can be reverted back to the way the were and history will be preserved. Moving a userspace article over the redirect will erase all the history from before. I recommend saving your work on an external program for use at a later time or write what ever information you have into the Trainer article itself. Thank you for understanding. --ケンジガール

Cress's Panpour

I think that since we have an article for Chili's Pansear and Cilan's Pansage, we should have an article for Cress's Panpour in the anime. What do you think? Satoshi101 22:14, 27 December 2011 (UTC)

Cress's Panpour has appeared only in one episode. Please read this before making that page. -- ✔Poké.geek✔ 22:18, 27 December 2011 (UTC)
Oh. Just making sure things are consistent. Satoshi101 22:22, 27 December 2011 (UTC)
Yeah, as Poke.geek said, Panpour has done nothing of significance. Cilan's a main character and Pansear had an episode about it. --ケンジガール 03:34, 28 December 2011 (UTC)

He has a point though. There should be a written documentation proving they exist. Voice actors are a good source but it was such a long time ago and there was never a quote given other than "voice actors said so". --ケンジガール 03:34, 28 December 2011 (UTC)

Carter Cathcart

I've noticed back in February you moved Carter Cathcart to Jimmy Zoppi. However, Jimmy Zoppi is not his real name. It's James Carter Cathcart. I don't know why you changed it, but I think it should be at either James Carter Cathcart or Carter Cathcart. Just like how Kayzie Rogers' article is not titled "Jamie Peacock." サトシ 19:17, 30 December 2011 (UTC)

First of all, I never moved Carter Cathcart to Jimmy Zoppi. All I did was redirect the name. The page was always Jimmy Zoppi and no one ever attempted to move it. Second, I didn't know that was his real name back then. People will voice there opinions on the move on the talk page and we'll see what happens. --ケンジガール 22:50, 30 December 2011 (UTC)

EP081

Hey KG, we're having a small issue with EP081. A user is changing the page to say it is the first episode of the Orange Islands Saga while it's listed as the last episode of the Indigo League on all the other pages on here. Is he right or no? We've tried undoing him twice, but he just undos our edits and I don't feel like edit warring. Thanks! --Pokemaster97 01:52, 31 December 2011 (UTC)

I'm pretty sure the user is saying it is Season 2 because it is included on the Orange Islands DVD boxset. However, it really is a Season 1 episode. Season 1 theme, belongs to the Indigo arc, etc. But I agree a MOD intervention would be great. --HoennMaster 05:28, 31 December 2011 (UTC)

?

Umm I'm not sure if you're the person to ask about this and I'm also not sure if this is where I'm supposed to ask you, but I had a question. Is there an article that lists all the pronunciations for every Pokémon, because I haven't been able to find one and I wanted to make that article if it doesn't exist (assuming there's nothing wrong with that). I just wanted to make sure I didn't make the same article twice and it seems like something that would have been made by now. Thanks Frenchhorn 21:18, 31 December 2011 (UTC)

We don't list pronunciations because there is no official agreement on pronunciations. All forms of media differ on some Pokemon, be it the characters or narrator of the anime, announcers in the games, or even Nintendo themselves in various publications. -- MAGNEDETH 21:51, 31 December 2011 (UTC)

Talk:Ursula's Gabite

Hi Kenji, I want to get your opinion on whether Ursula's Gabite is actually female or not. Though it has the appearance of a girl, I dont think any male Gabite have appeared in the anime, besides the Mystery Dungeon one, which had the appearance of a female. Since the anime (possibly) only uses the female's design, Ursula's Gabite could be of either gender, and I think it should be treated like any other Pokemon with gender differences until a male is seen, for example Dodrio. Vuvuzela2010 Δ 17:24, 3 January 2012 (UTC)

The difference between Gabite and Dodrio is that Gabite is a Generation IV Pokémon while Dodrio isn't. But I have to admit this is walking down a dangerous road of uncertainty with the whole Mystery Dungeon special. This would also have to mean dealing with other Pokémon who we label by their gender difference, not just Gabite. Shinx, Buizel, Bibarel, Garchomp, and Gible are just a few of them. --ケンジガール 08:58, 4 January 2012 (UTC)

User:Satoshi101/Ursula's Plusle and Minun

Is this page notable? -- ✔Poké.geek✔ 18:33, 4 January 2012 (UTC)

Please be patient, I am still working on it. I'd rather you not discuss this before I have shown my prototype (Userspace article) to her. サトシ 22:21, 4 January 2012 (UTC)
OK, now it's ready. What do you think, Kenji? サトシ 00:14, 5 January 2012 (UTC)
I really don't see this being mainspaced to be honest. All of this can fit perfectly on her page. They also didn't do that much. --ケンジガール 05:56, 5 January 2012 (UTC)
Well the thing is Plusle and Minun are her other main Pokémon. I think needing more than 2 episodes, a cameo in another episode, and a movie cameo (in the credits) is a lot to ask, considering the fact that unlike her other Pokémon (except Gabite) have only made major appearances in 1 episode, and never appearing after that. I don't see why they should be treated as Trainers-Pokémon-of-the-day. サトシ 00:14, 6 January 2012 (UTC)
All Plusle and Minun did was scare Dawn and battled, nothing else. PattyMan 00:22, 6 January 2012 (UTC)
They were in a contest, though. And not to mention her Gabite just did contests, nothing else. サトシ 00:31, 6 January 2012 (UTC)
Why do you compare to Gabite? He is the primary of her, have nothing to discuss, PluMinus have did nothing after his debut appearance and to complete the article that you did is copy and paste this on the main page of Ursula.--Hikaru Wazana 01:35 - 6 January 2012 (UTC)
They did appear after their debut a few times. They even cameoed in the 14th movie credits. Who could ask for more? And I'm not the only one who suggested this, another user previously did. Sorry if I was too lazy to write a summary myself but I was hoping to use what I pasted there as a starting point. サトシ 23:31, 6 January 2012 (UTC)
They appeared only in three episodes and aren't her signature Pokémon. A cameo in the movie credits is hardly a reason to give them an article. --ケンジガール 02:43, 7 January 2012 (UTC)\
I never said they were her signature Pokémon. I said that after Gabite, they were her other main Pokémon. Neither did I say they should have an article because they cameoed in the 14th movie credits. It was because they were in 3 episodes, which is about the minimum amount a trainer's Pokémon deserves its own article. サトシ 05:58, 8 January 2012 (UTC)
"They even cameoed in the 14th movie credits. Who could ask for more?" - I'm sorry but that really sounds like you were implying that it is. Anyway, their first two appearances can basically count as one long episode. The other one was a minor cameo in the appeals round. --ケンジガール 23:49, 8 January 2012 (UTC)
Then I guess it should stay on Ursula's page unless they make more appearances, which is very unlikely since both Ash and Dawn's adventures in Sinnoh have long been over. サトシ 02:26, 9 January 2012 (UTC)

Lavender Town Syndrome

Me again, so recently I've been busying myself reading Lavender Town Syndrome stories. I noticed we don't have an article about it. I think it is article-worthy. It has lots of fan-based media and is highly controversial. So again, if there is no trouble, I can make this article. - unsigned comment from Frenchhorn (talkcontribs)

It is not article-worthy. It was a made-up story some guy made to scare little kids. I am making a user article about it, but it won't be mainspaced anytime soon. Pokedex493 01:21, 6 January 2012 (UTC)
Okay, for some reason my signature screwed up. Pokedex493 01:22, 6 January 2012 (UTC)

Sorry I think that was me. We have articles that come completely from fan based media, like nuzlocke challenge. If you type "lavender" (or just the letters "lave") into Google, Lavender Town Syndrome comes up before Lavender Town itself does. There are fan-fictions, Youtube videos, all kinds of media out there. Just because it isn't real doesn't mean that it can't have an article. Frenchhorn 02:09, 6 January 2012 (UTC) I think I can make a legitimate article for it, we post popular rumors quite often. Like the rumor about the truck having a Mew under it in RGB and the rumor about the scientist in the space center in Mossdeep that will allow you to go to the moon and catch a Jirachi/Deoxys is Ruby/Sapphire and Emerald. If we can present that in an article, I can present Lavender town syndrome. I think it's fair enough to add a section about it to the Lavender Town page. Frenchhorn 00:35, 7 January 2012 (UTC)

I'm the wrong person to talk about if fan based things are notable or not. All I know is I heard of Nuzlocke and the truck, but never heard of Lavender Town stories. --ケンジガール 02:43, 7 January 2012 (UTC)
Personally, I think a section on the Lavender Town page would be good. An entire article is unnecessary, but it's certainly famous enough to deserve a section on Lavender Town. --SnorlaxMonster 12:01, 7 January 2012 (UTC)

Question/Suggestion

Hi. I've been editing several pages in the Pokémon anime section relating to the voice actors, etc, and I had a bit of a suggestion regarding to the voice actor "switch" (Oh! I'm so thankful that "controversy" is over). Anyway, since similar things have happened in other languages at different points in the series (such as European Portuguese with Season 10), and the VA is listed as simply: "VA A: EP001-DP139; VA B: DP140-Present", etc, I don't think it would be a bad idea for the same to be the case with the English since the episodes handled by TPCi is technically just a continuation of the 4Kids dub (making them different parts of the same "dub"), and that referring to each VA as being a part of different dubs would technically be incorrect (there's also the fact that technically PUSA/TPCi has been a part of the English dub from the beginning). At the very least I think referring to the specific VA's "cast" instead of "dub" would be more accurate, although it might still be a tad confusing for those unfamiliar with the cast switch (I know several dedicated Pokémon fans in real life who only noticed a couple characters' voices changing, and might be confused at the whole "4Kids dub/TPCi dub", "4Kids cast/TPCi cast" thing), and might get more information out of a more specific listing. What do you think? --HalloweenPistol13 08:09, 8 January 2012 (UTC)

That's sounds like a good idea. If you start, just make sure that you know the correct episodes they start/stop in. --ケンジガール 23:49, 8 January 2012 (UTC)
Alright. I'll get onto it! The only page I'll need assistance on is Ash Ketchum since only Admins are allowed to change it, but otherwise, I think I've got this under control. --HalloweenPistol13 03:39, 10 January 2012 (UTC)

Officer Jenny's Hurdier

I think that since Hurdier will be Officer Jenny's main Pokémon in Unova, we should create an article for it. We know another one has appeared in BW052, so that would be 2 (and counting) appearances. What do you think? サトシ 19:41, 8 January 2012 (UTC)

I agree. There's articles on Officer Jenny's Growlithe, Nurse Joy's Chansey and Audino so Officer Jenny's Hurdier should have an article. ZMT123 19:45, 8 January 2012 (UTC)

Two episodes only. Not notable enough. Unlike Joy, Jenny uses a variety of different Pokémon. At least in Unova. --ケンジガール 23:49, 8 January 2012 (UTC)
But keep in mind that it will be the equivelent to their Growlithes. What we could do, however, is just wait until it gets more appearances. サトシ 02:23, 9 January 2012 (UTC)
That's what KG was trying to say. More major appearances equals more notability--SandmanDP 03:30, 9 January 2012 (UTC)
I was pointing out that there weren't only gonna be 2 Hurdier, and that eventually it would be notable. サトシ 23:32, 9 January 2012 (UTC)

Episode titling punctuation

I noticed that the names of Pokemon episodes are punctuated on Bulbapedia with italics. I've learned that italics are used only for names of novels, films, television programs, and, when they were produced, Radio serials. Quotations are used for names of television episodes and shorts and poems, and I'm pretty sure something else. To open up episode articles, there's no punctuation in the English title, dub and translated. I know it would seem to be a long and tedious sub-project, but I'd be more than willing to help. Would you approve my doing this?--SandmanDP 22:18, 8 January 2012 (UTC)

Personally, I feel that the italics are better than the quotes. Quotes don't get used around here unless we quote someone, among other things. --ケンジガール 23:49, 8 January 2012 (UTC)
But shouldn't proper grammar trump personal feeling?--SandmanDP 23:58, 8 January 2012 (UTC)
It should, unless there is an executive decision deciding otherwise. Hi, I'm the executive decision. It is true that in general episode names are quoted, but that isn't the case here for two reasons.
The first being that when the site was initially being built, someone decided to italicize them. Why did they do this? I don't know, but the fact of the matter is now we have thousands and thousands of italic episode titles all over the site. This would be an insane task to revert, but it isn't really a paramount issue because of reason number 2.
They look fine. Ok, there's more to it than that, but the basis being that they are clear and easily definable among other words so it doesn't really matter that much. Add into the first factor of there being so many and you have to ask, is it worth spending such a large amount of time to fix something that isn't really a big deal?
Yes it's wrong, but it isn't exactly going to break the site so for the time being, or the foreseeable future. We have many other projects both in planning, and at the ready, so the episode names shall remain italic. Besides, this is Bulbapedia, we do things different than everyone else. It's what makes us unique. -- MAGNEDETH 00:13, 9 January 2012 (UTC)
Seems hypocritical on account of the grammar corrections that are constantly done. Why follow some grammar rules and ignore others?--SandmanDP 00:39, 9 January 2012 (UTC)
Did you read my reply? I gave you three different answers to your question. -- MAGNEDETH 00:55, 9 January 2012 (UTC)

One little question

Ok, I think you should already be tired of answering this kind of stuff, but I wonder if I have your approval to create a page for Drew's Masquerain and Drew's Flygon. After all, Masquerain was used to gain a Ribonn for Drew, used in a battle against Team Rocket and May, used in two Grand Festivals and Flygon was used in both battles against May in both championships, used to try to capture Arcanine ,had few cameos during the Battle Frontier and used against Robert in the Grand Festival.--Hikaru Wazana 02:58 - 10 January 2012 (UTC)

Please see this
And I don't believe Masquerain did enough to warrant an article. It's article was also decided to be merged as the decision of the EB just like Flygon was. --ケンジガール 04:12, 10 January 2012 (UTC)
About this ...
Just out of curiosity, but the Pokemon of Ash's rivals are more notable than those of female characters in the series?
I mean, Harrison has a lot less appearances that Drew have and obtain pages to your main Pokemon(I'm not saying they do not notable, just to be able to better understand the rules), and if you count only the appearances of the Drew's Pokemon and them Harley's give more episodes than the appearances of Harrison own.
I'm not objecting, just wondering...
Taking advantage of the post, I've been there a while doing a page on Ash's rivals. I wonder if she has any chance of becoming part of the site mainspace or she will have to be deleted as of Cynthia when I was working?--Hikaru Wazana 02:18 - 15 January 2012 (UTC)
If I may put in my two cents, the page honestly has poor grammar, poor structure, and just putting the Starter Pokémon, especially when many are unconfirmed, is incomplete and speculative. To put the "Jaywalking" in "Arson, Murder, and Jaywalking", the r would be lowercase ie "Ash's rivals"--SandmanDP 02:24, 15 January 2012 (UTC)
The page is not ready, I'm just presenting the concept to see if I can go ahead with it.--Hikaru Wazana 02:31 - 15 January 2012 (UTC)
Not even sure what you mean by Ash's rival Pokémon being more notable than female characters. I'm not saying it's impossible for them to ever have an article. I just need to talk it over with the others. The point is we don't need someone to put a page in their userspace when the page already exists. As I said at the top, the redirects can just be reverted.
And like I said before, the rival page would at least have to have a better format before I can consider it. I don't care for the fanon terminology at the top to be honest. But it can possibly get on the site if the format is made presentable. Maybe you should refer to Ash's friends.
And to Sandman, the title of the page is not really an issue as we can just move it to the proper title when it's ready.--ケンジガール 18:25, 15 January 2012 (UTC)

Trainer Pokémon sections

Hey KG, I was wondering about some pages that have lots of different sections under a "Pokémon" section. Namely the professors. For example, if you take a look at Professor Oak, his Pokémon sections say "On hand", "Status unknown", "Gives to new trainers"; and then it sort of forgets the section it's in so it has to remind itself; "Pokémon he gave away to trainers", "Pokémon residing at Oak's Lab", and "Pokémon that previously resided at Oak's lab." Can we reword the last three so they don't include the word "Pokémon"? It seemed redundant to me, and it makes articles like Professor Elm confusing when we have a "Pokémon he gave away to trainers" section and a "Given away" section. What's your opinion? Jo the Marten ಠ_ಠ 23:09, 22 January 2012 (UTC)

Possible new page idea

Hey Kenji, I know this isn't really anime related, but a long time ago a discussion was held on this page in which you suggested that we should put all the Watering items as their own page instead of them having their own individual pages. I decided to come up with a "rough draft" of what I think the page could look like and was wondering what you think. I kind of wanted to see if it was ok continuing to make this before I go through all the work of editing it. Right now I just have a section for the Squirtbottle but I would also add sections for the Wailmer Pail and Sprayduck as well as a section for their brief appearances in the anime. --HoennMaster 06:58, 24 January 2012 (UTC)

"Diamond & Pearl" to "Diamond and Pearl"

Now that we're going with calling season 15 "Black & White: Rival Destinies", for consistancy's sake, shouldn't that also mean that the titles of seasons 11-13 be moved to have "Diamond & Pearl" replaced with "Diamond and Pearl"? Seeing as the "and" is used instead of the ampersand in dub-related circumstances (like season 10).Despite how minor it is - calling those seasons "Diamond & Pearl" would be equivilant to calling season 15 "Pokemon Best Wishes: Rival Destinies".

I know there was a discussion on the season 11 talkpage, but the title of season 15 pretty much flies in the face of every argument against using the ampersand in the DP season names. -Thingamajig257- 12:06, 29 January 2012 (UTC)

From what I've seen, every official source calls the seasons "Pokémon: DP", not "Pokémon Diamond & Pearl" or "Pokémon Diamond and Pearl". Unless it was spoken that way officially. Maybe wait until we see the official season title of Rival Destinies? For all we know they're doing the same thing (Pokémon BW: Rival Destinies). There's always a change the ToonZone forum is presenting it incorrectly. If that would be the case I would say move those seasons to abbreviated form. We should be really naming them how Pokemon.com presents them in my opinion, which we are not doing currently. --ケンジガール 11:25, 30 January 2012 (UTC)
I don't remember whether they used "&" or "and" but Cartoon Network* tends to use the full name of the seasons in their promos, not just the abbreviations i.e the current style that we've been following. ♫♪ エイディニズ ♪♫ 12:22, 30 January 2012 (UTC)
Well we could move the articles to DP and B&W, which is a perfectly logical choice - but I was thinking that if we were going to stick with calling season 15 "Black & White: Rival Destinies" and not "Best Wishes: Rival Destinies" then the DP articles should have their titles changed to be consistent with that. -Thingamajig257- 05:06, 31 January 2012 (UTC)

Why?

I had been put to this usergroup by mistake. I didn't spam edits, all my edits are major, i edit every 20 minutes, and all my edits are in sucession. Yet i still got put to forcepreview. Release me please!--My r6g4rdz, TEH GIGA-UBER-1337-HAX0R(Mr-ex777) 14:02, 2 February 2012 (UTC)

The point isn't that you're editing the page every twenty minutes, the point is that you're making a lot of them. If you're playing the game as you write this, you could play the game first, clear the part you need, then write everything down in a notepad file, do some cleanup, and then submit it. Between yesterday and today you made 15 edits to the same page. You've failed to listen to repeated warnings about the preview button, you even got a huge one to use, so we have to set you in the forced preview one. Masatoshitalk 14:39, 2 February 2012 (UTC)

End of spoiler notice?

I saw an end of spoiler notice on a page about one of the episodes (I don't remember which one) and was wondering if it should be put on all the pages about the episode. If so, I would love to help out. Sambam124 01:48, 4 February 2012 (UTC)

Alder's Bouffalant

I've done some work on a page for Alder's Bouffalant, but even if it's not quite notable enough to mainspace just yet, I'd like to ask for some help on the move templates. I can't figure out how to get it to stop displaying "using Vine Whip", and I also don't get how to write Surf's debut place in the Special template. --The Great Butler 01:22, 5 February 2012 (UTC)

You know you're really supposed to ask first if you want to create an anime Pokémon page. Someone already asked me about it before and they even had the text saved ready. We try not to make Pokémon in the userspace so they can be put directly in the main space when the time comes. This was done because so many people were making Pokémon in their userspace. However, it's a rule I haven't been enforcing lately...
Anyway, it seems that you got the anime moves right. But for the manga, I would need to know the chapter it used the move in. It would be PS---. I'm guessing it's not known since it's not on Alder's page either. --ケンジガール 08:17, 5 February 2012 (UTC)
Excuse me for chiming in KG, but I don't think this Pokémon needs its own page. It's pretty short, and I think it would fit on Alder's page better. And plus, it also had appearances in the games. Just my two cents. サトシ 00:04, 24 February 2012 (UTC)

Professor Juniper (anime)

I've noticed Prof. Juniper has made quite a few appearances in BW. So I was wondering, would an anime article for Juniper be notable? サトシ 20:43, 5 February 2012 (UTC)

though she has made many appearences in the anime, her character has not been much more notablte than Elm or Birch, the reason we Proffesor Oak (anime) is because unlike the other proffesors he has been a constant character throughout the anime and therefore had a ton of info in his anime section. Because of the sheer mass and giant size of his page, the article was split, as it was for Giovanni and Giovanni (anime), if Juniper's anime section gets that large we'll do the same, the rules for this are a little different to how we'd decide if a rivals pokemon for instance, deserves a page :) Diamond Lanturn CodeName: 05308 22:58, 5 February 2012 (UTC)

Crustle and Joltik

Hey Kenji-girl, when I was watching episode subbed by [PM], I noticed that they're using Batul instead of Bachuru and Iwapalace instead of Iwaparesu. What do you think? Is it the true spelling? Sorry about the stupid question, just asking because it can be useful... TheSeviper ♫ハブネーク♫ 12:15, 11 February 2012 (GMT)

PM is notorious for using made up romanizations rather than using what's official when they don't know what the true romanizations are. For example, they use "Deathmas" and "Deathkarn" when it has been proven that they are officially romanized as Desumasu and Desukarn. We've had a lot of problems caused over here because users trusted what they said. Like "Ranculus" instead of Lanculus. Now it's true that they have been correct sometimes, but we only take our romanizations from official media like stickers or other merchandise that spell the Pokémon names in romaji. --ケンジガール 11:30, 11 February 2012 (UTC)

How is it incorrect when everything else in a non-dubbed episode has English names for everything else? The only reason the images have it is so there isn't "Who's That Pokémon" on both images. And even then there is a tt template on it saying that it's still WTP. --ケンジガール 01:22, 15 February 2012 (UTC)
Pardon me for commenting on the conversation Kenji-girl, but I said I didn't see a problem with switching the order of the WTP on some of the episode pages to match the order of the main WTP page (Like putting the Japanese Pokémon first then the international one), not to do all of this Dare da stuff your doing Sandman. He took it upon himself to do that. Just trying to explain my involvement. --Pokemaster97 01:23, 15 February 2012 (UTC)
KG, you are not looking at the big picture. The images will come. The images are not the issue, it's the inconsistency that putting the US WTP first before Japan when the Japan image is first. Leaving inconsistencies alone means confusion, and in the real world would also lead to improper findings and botched medical procedures and that leads to lawsuits.--SandmanDP 16:59, 16 February 2012 (UTC)
You're aware that you're comparing the ordering of some obscure information about decade-old cartoons on a fan-edited wiki... to medical malpractice, right?
"So, it turns out the doctor took out the wrong kidney and I'll be on dialysis for the rest of my life. You know, it really reminds me of the time that Bulbapedia put the English Who's that Pokemon before the Japanese one."
If this analogy achieves one thing, it's illustrating how vanishingly insignificant this crusade is in the grand scheme of things. Other stuff on the wiki needs work, and you're obviously interested in details. Please, find something else to do here. Bikini Miltank 21:54, 16 February 2012 (UTC)

Do you have a screen shot? I have the movie on my DVR. I know its not high def, but they look like Lugia to me. There is a blue mask, or as the Lugia article puts it spikes over the eyes, and where the tail is blue spikes. Wait until Volcarona shows up, he will eclipse one of them the second it appears. There is another one to Archeops's left, it is flying slightly lower. Yamitora1 10:48, 19 February 2012 (UTC)
I have a high definition of the movie in Japanese that was taken from a DVD. I've looked and they are Swanna. Because they are so far away their outlines become dark making it look like they have something over their eyes but they really don't.
This series is intent on not having any Pokémon from the previous generations appear live. It doesn't make any sense for them to have Lugia. --ケンジガール 10:57, 19 February 2012 (UTC)

Sorry about this, I'm use to forums or sites where you can PM/e-mail admins, I'm still new to wikis in general. I never tried too hard to edit them because they are too techy for me, and I have heard many horror stories about childish behavior from editors and those who run wikis alike.

Anyways is there a list of websites that this wiki considers trust worthy? I came across this article http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/25353 about there being no more games for Gen V like a third version.

If that article can be trusted, shouldn't some mention about that info be added to the articles relating to Black and White and the Version article?

I know from common sense and reading the Version article that a formula has been followed since the beginning. However, if there is not going be a third version of the games, then some mention that the formula has been broken should be made on the affected articles am i correct?

Again, sorry for bugging you and/or rambling. Yamitora1 11:45, 19 February 2012 (UTC)

This story is quite old and it has been proven false by the person who made that quote. There is a Bulbanews story somewhere about both somewhere. I raised a question about adding DoubleSlap to Pikachutwo's moves since he repeatedly smacks ash' pikachu on hand after another. I spent the last two hours watching Mewtwo Strikes Back for said scene and if you take to heart what Mewtwo says, he only disabled Special type moves like fire, water and electricity. DoubleSlap is a physical move; but again i don't see what disable has to do with anything. BW071

Why did you hide the debuts? If we go by the logic that the Pokemon could randomly appear before they battle in BW070(even though that would seem weird, especially since the Club Battle didn't do that), then Simisage could randomly appear in BW069, so then we should hide him debuting for that episode, no? Playerking95 04:06, 3 March 2012 (UTC)

BW069 is not part of the Donamite arc the same rules do not have to apply to it. There is always that chance that some of the Trainers could want to show off their Pokémon before the battles start. Or they could be walking with them. Who knows? It might not happen but it could even if it didn't happen in the Club Battle. --ケンジガール 04:23, 3 March 2012 (UTC)
What I'm saying is, hiding the debuts of those Pokemon is fair and all, since they could somehow appear in the previous episode, but you could say the same with BW069. A lot of people will be in the race and who's to say some of the debuting Pokemon don't debut in BW069, like Simisage. So, if you didn't hide Simisage since it is likely going to debut in BW)70, then why can't we do the same for the Pokemon in BW071. Therefore there wouldn't be double standards. And also, I realized that Throh and Conkeldurr are on in BW070 anyway, since they are on the to be continued bit of what looks to be BW070. Playerking95 11:15, 3 March 2012 (UTC)
It's not confirmed to continue on into it though. Other than most likely Stephan accompanying the group to Toaru Town. BW070 and BW071 obviously share a connection with each other that's far greater than BW069. They are part of an arc. And it's perfectly reasonable to suspect their might be cameos or appearances before the episode you think they will battle in. BW069 has not been shown to have any connection to BW070. Therefore there's no reason to suspect Simisage's appearance will happen before then. --ケンジガール 19:56, 3 March 2012 (UTC)

Re Lectures, ect.

I'm just wondering why we can't add appearances in Lectures, ect to the Pokémon anime sections? They are still appearances in the anime, and our coverage of some of these areas could be better. As long as it is made clear they are not actual episodes of the anime, and we don't include stock footage appearances, I don't see why it would be a problem? Or another idea I had was that the lectures and (possibly) the WTP could get a template like the Pokedex entries do?

Is the Pokémon Stadium 2 dex broke?

Where is the Stadium 2 dex entries on gen I/II Pokémon? multiple articles are missing the stadium 2 dex entry. Is the template broken? Yamitora1 02:36, 13 March 2012 (UTC)

There is no coding for Stadium 2 in the template. Looking at a few semi-random Pokemon, It looks like Stadium 2 uses the Pokedex entries from Gold. Werdnae (talk) 03:14, 13 March 2012 (UTC)
But Stadium is listed and I'm pretty sure it uses red/blue's pokedex entries. plus, in the wiki code there is a code for stadium 2 on bulbasaur's article |stadium2dex=The seed on its back is filled with nutrients. The seed grows steadily larger as its body grows.
so at some point there was a template or something for stadium 2 to show up. Yamitora1 18:28, 13 March 2012 (UTC)
Actually, it can list both. When connected to Crystal, Pidgeot had entry from Gold, whilst when connected to Yellow, from Silver. Marked +-+-+ 18:41, 13 March 2012 (UTC)
And that will be why it was removed. Because it's not one entry. The code's still on the page because when templates get redesigned, we try to use the same parameters as the previous version, so that we don't get 650 broken pages until we update each one individually. We never got around to removing them after the template updated. Werdnae (talk) 18:50, 13 March 2012 (UTC)
Kind of the same reason why all the moves have a hidden description in the coding right? Frozen Fennec 18:54, 13 March 2012 (UTC)
But if there is multiple entries, why not set up the box like the breeding box. IE: If you want to see the other Stadium 2 entries, just click the button to change it like people do to see what moves Pikachu could be breed with back in Gen II or III Yamitora1 18:58, 13 March 2012 (UTC)
Because Stadium 2 has no unique entries. It just uses the entry of a handheld game (or even Stadium 1 I believe) depending on the version you have connected to it. There is no point adding a section to the template if all of its entries are identical to other games' (I know remakes tend to reuse old entries, but often they are minor phrasing or punctuation differences, and there are unique entries from those games too). --SnorlaxMonster 11:12, 14 March 2012 (UTC)

James'

James' Pokémon page is shown as James's Pokémon. Since this is a grammatical mistake (everything that ends in s and must show possession it gets an ' at the end, while the "s"less ones just get an s at the end) then shouldn't it be replaced with James' Pokémon ?----DJWolfy 19:40, 15 March 2012 (UTC)

From what I've seen, different gramatical schools vary on that point. Some say James' is better, others say James's is right. We're using the latter because it's less ambiguous (The former could also mean Pokemon belonging to more than one "Jame"). Werdnae (talk) 20:21, 15 March 2012 (UTC)

Masaomi

I respect your adminship but I think that adding him to the template was a little silly of you. It's jumping the gun. The template is for notable recurring characters. So far we should treat Masaomi as a one-arc character (like Holly, who was pretty important in the Hearthome Tournament arc but never appeared again). --Maxim 10:16, 18 March 2012 (UTC)

Please don't compare Masaomi to Holly. Masaomi was the former champion of the Donamite as is being portrayed as the main obstacle for the regular characters. Holly was acting as an add-on for Brock and was not a stand out character, being easily overshadowed by Paul and Conway. I'm treating him as I did Luke, who was the main guest character for the Club Battle.
I would appreciate if you wouldn't say my decisions are "silly". I understand what I'm doing. I realize that there is a high chance Masaomi will never return. As I said before with Luke, I don't put them there because I believe they will return in a future episode. They are important characters to the anime. --ケンジガール 22:12, 18 March 2012 (UTC)
He can't be important if he never reappears. Being former Donnamite winner doesn't make him more important than Jon Dickson. Not to mention that Don Tournaments are very minor stuff compared to the Pokemon League. He may be the hero of this arc but in the context of the entire anime he's totally meaningless. --Maxim 22:32, 18 March 2012 (UTC)
What about Lyra and Khoury then? They never appeared again so does that mean they are unimportant now? And are you really comparing Masaomi to Jon Dickson, a character who appeared briefly in one episode with no speaking lines? And the tournaments are important events to the anime as far as I'm concerned. Not as important as game events of course but they are pretty important. --ケンジガール 22:38, 18 March 2012 (UTC)

Should there be a page like this "List of French Pokémon names" only for Romanian? I don't think since they just keep their english names. At least shouldn't this be noted somewhere ? And they keep even their city names too.----DJWolfy 06:59, 16 April 2012 (UTC)

I really don't know. If they are the same I don't think they should get their own list. And I'm not sure where you would note it. --ケンジガール 07:10, 16 April 2012 (UTC)
Then should I only note them each in their individual "In other languages" section ?----DJWolfy 07:39, 16 April 2012 (UTC)
I don't know. We don't appear to note them when they're the same. --ケンジガール 08:09, 16 April 2012 (UTC)
I apologize for interrupting, but I want to mention that Spanish and Italian names are also not noted. Those languages also don't have their own list as they are the same as English (unlike the other languages). I suggest to put it in a page on Pokémon in Romania instead (if someone would create a page on it). --超龍對話 08:21, 16 April 2012 (UTC)
The best example would be this Names on Ash's page. All common names in different languages are put in the same column.----DJWolfy 11:52, 16 April 2012 (UTC)
While I'm not opposed to the idea, it can be distracting when we put these much languages into one box. And if we don't add all the other languages, it's rather unfair to them if we only list Romanian. --超龍對話 13:35, 16 April 2012 (UTC)

Yes but you see, I'm the only Romanian active on this site so I pretty much can handle doing the language thing alone. Plus no one said it could be distracting since the language box can be modified to alter between Hide and Show. And also, Werdnae said it is ok to add any languages as long as it is an official translation. So no, it is not fair for other languages, because no one said the other languages couldn't be added. Afterall we all have equal rights and that's what the "other languages" box is for.----DJWolfy 14:10, 16 April 2012 (UTC)

Like I said, I'm not against the idea, but we had some cases when the names were removed because they were redundant (1 2) It's granted that they were in different rows, but the admins didn't seem to mind. Also, when I mean distracting, I was referring to the language box only. It's not really distracting for the article. But if you want to add it, it's fine with me. I'm just not sure if everyone agrees with it (especially Maxim). --超龍對話 14:30, 16 April 2012 (UTC)
To me it's obvious - if a certain language translation always keeps English names, it's useless to mention it. Otherwise we would need lengthy tables listing the same names countless times. Sorry, but this is not what we strive for. Move, item, location names - fine, as long as they are legit (not fan translation), but Pokemon names will always be the same, so listing them doesn't make any sense. The only thing I would agree for would be redirecting "List of Romanian (Swedish, Finnish, Polish, Catalan, Turkish etc.) Pokemon names" to "List of English Pokemon names". But do we really need this? I think it's nothing but splitting hairs. --Maxim 14:53, 16 April 2012 (UTC)
That's racist, people should always be informed in a way or another how something taken from another language will be in the language who took it regardless if it is the same. If it is the same just put it in the same column as in the case of this. That language box was made for a reason. And I never said to be made a special page for Romanian names, you can look it up above. I just asked if it should be noted somewhere besides their language box. ----DJWolfy 15:03, 16 April 2012 (UTC)
It's not "racist". It's common sense that European languages other than French and German always use English Pokemon names. There's nothing racist about it, so stop whining. I'm from Poland myself and I have deleted cases when someone submitted "Polish" names without the need of it. --Maxim 15:25, 16 April 2012 (UTC)
I do not whine about it and needless to say that I am not interested about your whereabouts, do not take it as an offense. And no it's not common sense, not all do it. I do not wish to be rude my Bulbafriend, but you or neither can I decide what should be implemented in Bulbapedia. As I said above, if Werdnae who is the debuty EiC agreed as long as it is official, then I see no problem in adding it. I wish to end this discussion due to it being on to another person's page and it is rude to talk about something at someone's "house" when the respective host isn't present.----DJWolfy 15:48, 16 April 2012 (UTC)
However, he didn't specifically say that you can add names that are the same as the English names.--Den Zen 16:00, 16 April 2012 (UTC)

Anyway, they should be added in the same column with the commons. How are people supposed to know that it's the same in that country? It's like expecting them to know that without being informed. I never said a special column should be made, just said that common translations should be put in the same column.----DJWolfy 16:06, 16 April 2012 (UTC)

Decision

Has a decision been made about if it were to be put their names in Romanian for Pokémon ? As I said, everything that is common should be put in the same column with other languages. Or should I ask Deth ?----DJWolfy 07:27, 19 April 2012 (UTC)

Maybe mention it to Deth because I really don't know what to do here. Or you can make a forum topic on the Bulbawiki Forum. --ケンジガール 07:41, 19 April 2012 (UTC)
I don't really like forums, so I'll just ask EiC.----DJWolfy 07:46, 19 April 2012 (UTC)

Oh btw, out of topic you have a typo here "I think Satoshi Tajiri just ran out of insperation"* and here "All I have t say is Thanks for making" and "So much so that he is" when describing tracey, and lastly here "parts the the movies". I'm not stalking, just looked up a bit out of curiosity.----DJWolfy 11:37, 19 April 2012 (UTC)

Synopsis Question

Is it possible, with Synopsi that I personally write and put on Bulbapedia, to also give the same ones to Serebii to use on his site, or do I have to have special permission or something to be allowed to do that? 태권도 합기도 09:04, 19 April 2012 (UTC)

If you wrote them all yourself then it's okay. Just make sure you mention in the edit summary box when you write future synopses that you wrote it so that we don't get accused of stealing from them. You should also inform the webmaster over there that you also submit them to Bulbapedia. --ケンジガール 09:42, 19 April 2012 (UTC)

Zoroak71

Is vandalizing articles and adding false information. I'm pretty sure Feebass can't learn Shadow Force, Roar of Time, or Spacial Rend... Sneaking from page to page... It's the page-editing purple ghost... Gengarzilla! 15:43, 19 April 2012 (UTC)

Photo

Kenji you said that photos or whatever isn't a physical appearance of the real thing don't count as appearances right ? Because it's written on the List of Pokémon by anime debut that Omanyte has its debut in EP026 even though it appeared in a photo. I thought I should tell you first if it should be removed or not.----DJWolfy 20:00, 21 April 2012 (UTC)

Yes. Remove it. --ケンジガール 20:09, 21 April 2012 (UTC)

Dragonair

I'm a bit confused... It says on Dragonair's page that (apart from the banned episode) it first appeared in EP251... but that wouldn't be true unless it's its anime debut since it appeared first in PK04. Also on List of Pokémon by anime debut it says that it made its debut in M02, but I looked on M02's page, couldn't find Dragonair written anywhere neither on its on page or on Serebii pics. But still about its anime debut... it actually first appeared in another episode (I think, I've seen it in the opening theme jumping out of the water when Ash was riding Lapras, and since the opening theme is made up of anime scenes then it should have been somewhere in the Orange Islands since that was when he had Lapras). It also appeared in EP216 so that makes two earlier appearances... ----DJWolfy 18:58, 23 April 2012 (UTC)

Dragonair never appeared in the OI saga, only a silhouette of one in Misty's fantasy which I don't think counts. It should be corrected to which ever is true. That list should mark the first physical appearance. I haven't seen the Johto episodes in a while so I can't tell you for sure. --ケンジガール 23:27, 23 April 2012 (UTC)
Well since the Pokémon Theme cleary shows Dragonair coming out of water when Ash was riding his Lapras then it must have been in the OI, when else was he riding Lapras ?* Well it made a comeback in Lapras of Luxury but that was after EP251.----DJWolfy 12:05, 24 April 2012 (UTC)
The dub theme is actual a mix of the original Japanese theme and episode scenes. The scene you're describing is from the original Japanese theme which is not related to any episodes.--ForceFire 12:22, 24 April 2012 (UTC)
Hm... I'm sure the scene seems awfully familiar, from some episode... but I guess that my mind is playing me tricks. I should check the M02 anyway and EP216.----DJWolfy 12:34, 24 April 2012 (UTC)
How about PK04 anyway ? It still aired earlier than EP251.----DJWolfy 12:36, 24 April 2012 (UTC)
Oh wait, it says PK04 it was featured as a short along with M02... maybe that's why on the List debut Dragonair has its debut in M02... but still that isn't true since PK04 isn't actually part of M02.----DJWolfy 12:37, 24 April 2012 (UTC)
Oh yeah, there was a Dragonair in that. I think it should mark that as first appearance for the dub then, not M02. --ケンジガール 19:49, 24 April 2012 (UTC)

It not made a single appearance in M02 at all, but Force fixed it anyway.----DJWolfy 19:58, 24 April 2012 (UTC)

A question

do you know the name of the cooking appliance that Japanese chefs use to cook directly on, where the surface is flat and is an actual burner that food cooks on top of? (it pertains to Pokémon Best Wishes episode that I am writing a Synopsis for). 태권도 합기도 23:33, 23 April 2012 (UTC)

This? --ケンジガール 23:42, 23 April 2012 (UTC)
Yes, thank you. 태권도 합기도 23:45, 23 April 2012 (UTC)
