Was there some sort of order to remove any edit I do? Because it seems I'm left out of any decisions and not told what I'm doing wrong based on the information I was handed to start with.  All I'm trying to do is fix grammatical, spelling and other errors, remove untrue or unnotable statements, and get rid of redundancies.  There's no debut for Pokemon debuts. Hello

I'm having problems with adding content to my user page. On its page, for me the editing button is not there for some reason. And when I click "edit the top of the page" it tells me I don't have permission to edit on my page. It says I need to edit an article before I can edit my user page, I tried it, and it didn't work. --TheSilverBisharp 02:49, 20 November 2011 (UTC)

You have to make a considerable amount of edits on the mainspace to be able to edit your userpage.--ForceFire 02:54, 20 November 2011 (UTC)

What do you mean by "The mainspace?" --TheSilverBisharp 03:01, 20 November 2011 (UTC)

Anything without the prefix "User:". Eg. User:Force Fire is the Userspace, User talk:Force Fire is the talk page, everything else is the mainspace.--ForceFire 03:12, 20 November 2011 (UTC)

Userspace limits

Hi. I noticed you have been editing the User: namespace a lot recently. Please don't do it any more, though. Bulbapedia's Userspace policy restricts the amount you can edit your userpage: no more than three edits per day. This policy was instated to prevent strain on our server, and also to promote people helping out in the mainspace. Bulbapedia is an encyclopedia, after all, so help us out by contributing to some articles before coming back to your personal userpage. The more often you edit in the mainspace, the more you will be allowed to edit your userpage. Thanks! --ForceFire 04:16, 22 November 2011 (UTC)

You know we don't normally count stuff like prototype templates towards the limit (assuming they're not stuff like usertags)? Werdnae (talk) 05:02, 22 November 2011 (UTC)

Wha

So why did you revert my Hyper Fang edit? They're two completely separate visuals so the section should show them both, like with, say, every other move with differences between 4th gen versions. -- Trainer Hunter -- 08:48, 6 December 2011 (UTC)

I was assuming you was separating the two Gen IV images from the others not knowing that the DPPt image was not present before you edited it. Sorry.--ForceFire 09:13, 6 December 2011 (UTC)
Ah, a misunderstanding. Okay that's fine. Everyone makes mistakes, after all! Also I separated them because it looks kinda bad in 1280x1024. I really should bring that up with an admin at some point, though. -- Trainer Hunter -- 17:41, 6 December 2011 (UTC)

Howcome?

How come you got rid of the synopsis I was making on "Go!GO! LUDICOLO" you're just making the article the same as before.--Supermon 12:47, 9 December 2011 (UTC)

Umm, I didn't remove it. I just fixed a spelling error that you made. The edit you made is still there.--ForceFire 12:49, 9 December 2011 (UTC)

Nope! what I put on isn't there. If you thought I just added a sentence or too I was working on improving the WHOLE synopsis. But I forgive you.--Supermon 22:46, 9 December 2011 (UTC)

In an edit conflict, your text will appear in a window at the bottom of the screen. I'd say you've clicked save without realising and have therefore saved ForceFire's edit but lost your work. Its frustrating, I know, but there's nothing ForceFire could have done to prevent it. You'll just have to be more cautious next time - I recommend copying text into Word when doing major edits because that way you can't lose it. Toon Ganondorf (t c) 22:57, 9 December 2011 (UTC)
Also, use the preview button when making large scale edits so you don't get conflicted.--ForceFire 05:46, 10 December 2011 (UTC)

Yes

I played up to that point in Crystal recently, and then saved so I could see if the Everstone would make a difference in the dialogue, and the NPC reacts as he would if Haunter is traded without the stone. Antiyonder 10:30, 10 December 2011 (UTC)

So what do I have to do then? I tried it, I don't know how.--- Pokémon Questions? -- 10:11, 24 February 2012 (UTC)

I actually have no idea what you're doing. To me, your just removing your comments by archiving.--ForceFire 10:15, 24 February 2012 (UTC)

I only wanted to clear my discussion, so tell me what to do. - Pokémon Questions? -- 10:17, 24 February 2012 (UTC)

Why do you want to clear your discussions, or rather, your talk page when there not much on it?--ForceFire 10:20, 24 February 2012 (UTC)

Because it looks better to me when clear as if only one uninteresting sentence is in it. I had never thought this would cause any problems. And as I already have 1 archieve page I thought I could put it easily in there but I don't know how.
Ah, by the way, perhaps you have any answers on my questions right there? Cranidos

What? You mean to tell me that Cranidos isn't a Pokémon ? The timeline specifically says 2 million years ago the first Pokémon appeared as dated by archaeology. It cleary states that. Therefore I want you to give me the best reason why shouldn't that be added to trivia.----DJWolfy 10:29, 25 February 2012 (UTC)

Cranidos may not be the first Pokémon, it may have just appeared through evolution and lived 100 million years ago. Just like how some dinosaurs appeared in the Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous periods through evolution.--ForceFire 11:40, 25 February 2012 (UTC)
Well, since it said that Arceus created the Pokémon world them it implies the creation theory which obliterates the evolution theory.----DJWolfy 12:18, 25 February 2012 (UTC)
In that case, it could be said that Arceus created Cranidos 100 million years ago rather than merely 2 million years ago.--ForceFire 12:25, 25 February 2012 (UTC)
Well, if you want that not to be added to the trivia it's fine for me, I just wanted to clearify what the timeline implied. Guess the anime producers don't take into account previous episodes.----DJWolfy 13:09, 25 February 2012 (UTC)

Anime Pokémon evolving

You know, it would have been a lot easier to default to "still able to evolve" and only define "noevo" to "incap" where applicable. It's a bit late now though. --SnorlaxMonster 10:16, 11 March 2012 (UTC)

I know, I just didn't change the default back cause I had already tested it on Muk's page and when I wanted to change it back, I figured it was too late anyway.--ForceFire 10:21, 11 March 2012 (UTC)

A few pieces of advice

Just a few things to note:

  1. Before making changes to massively used templates, get opinions from others and approval of the idea from a higher staff member. (Editorial Board member in charge of the section the template is used in would be preferred.)
    • This also includes drastic changes in style, even on hardcoded tables. Just because you dislike what we have, doesn't mean others will agree with the way you want to reformat it.
  2. Always make the default result of a switch the more common result that will be used. In the case above, most new captures have the possibility of evolution & the default should have been the original template default.
  3. If you want to edit multiple sections of a single page, you should do so by editing the entire page. Rather than making 5 edits to one page.

Please keep these things in mind. Thanks, - Kogoro - Talk to me - 11:04, 11 March 2012 (UTC)

  1. My apologies. I just thought that a minor addition wouldn't be too much of a hassle, which I was then proven wrong. I also would've went to an Editorial Board but I wasn't sure who was on at the time so I could get quick opinions.
    • Like the above, I thought that because it was only minor and not everything about it was going to change that I shouldn't really get opinions. It was always going to have the same content and it was always going to look similar to what it was before.
  2. Okay. Speaking of default, would you want me to change it or is it all too late?
  3. That was just a matter of me rushing and not looking at what I was doing.
Again, my sincerest apologies and I will make sure this won't happen again.--ForceFire 12:56, 11 March 2012 (UTC)

Linking within an article/page

I've looked through the BP manual of style and I've Googled it, but I can't figure out how to place a link in an article that links directly to a specific section of that article, in the same way that the contents box on each page does. How do I do this? - unsigned comment from poikins 17:51, March 13, 2012‎

I'm not sure if we actually have a link template that allows that, but if you want to link to a specific section of an article just do this: [[Pikachu (Pokémon)#Trivia|like this]] which should link you to the trivia section of that article like this.--ForceFire 02:03, 14 March 2012 (UTC)

Welcome template

Hi, may I know why I need to keep it? Cheers, Haxorus 10:15, 14 March 2012 (UTC)

Second paragraph.--ForceFire 10:22, 14 March 2012 (UTC)
Oh, I get it. Bit off-tangent, but at the same time, I saw this on the page you showed me: "When you have finished creating your archive, remember to remove the redirect that will now be found on your talk page so that new discussions can take place." → I don't quite understand what this is trying to say here. Could you help me out here? Thanks! Cheers, Haxorus 10:28, 14 March 2012 (UTC)
Once you move your talk page to your archives, it will automatically become a redirect. Removing the redirect prevents people from being redirected to your archives if they want to start a discussion.--ForceFire 10:34, 14 March 2012 (UTC)
Oh, I think I get it. So in other words, after I'm done, I have to go back to my original talk page, where the moving has caused it to become a redirect to the archive page, and empty its contents for people to initiate a new discussion? And also preferably provide links to the archive? Cheers, Haxorus 11:00, 14 March 2012 (UTC)
Yes. Except remove "preferably" in that last sentence - link(s) to the archives are necessary so that people know they exist. Werdnae (talk) 18:28, 14 March 2012 (UTC)

Pokémon of the Day

Hey Force Fire, I really like the PotD box you have on your userpage. I was wondering if it's okay to use it? Thanks! - poikins 05:23, 16 March 2012 (UTC)

Sure, go for it.--ForceFire 05:34, 16 March 2012 (UTC)

Oh yeah

Oh yeah, I forgot all about the preview button. Oops. ^^; Thanks for reminding me! I'll keep that in mind for next time! =) Anyway, I think my edit looks great now. I hope everyone likes it. --PokemonTrainerLisa 09:11, 20 March 2012 (UTC)
