Platinum Sinnoh Dex

Where are you getting the Pokédex numbers you've been adding? If you're just guessing or assuming, then that's really not an acceptable excuse. Flicky1991 20:29, 10 September 2008 (UTC)

  • I'm getting them from Serebii.net, where several people have been playing the game as we speak. Chosen of Mana
Yeah, I've seen that now. Sorry, but I assumed you were another one of the idiots we get on here who adds completely random stuff. Obviously I was wrong, and I apologise for that. :) Flicky1991 21:43, 10 September 2008 (UTC)
No problem. Chosen of Mana

Your question on Bulbapedia:Spading

Do you mean Fire Fang bypasses Wonder Guard when used against a Pokémon which has Wonderguard but isn't weak to Fire? --Raijinili 08:29, 20 November 2008 (UTC)

Yes. It's proven it works in Diamond and Pearl, but I want to know if the glitch was fixed in Platinum- unsigned comment from Chosen (talkcontribs)

Template:User Anime

I had to revert your edit there because it destroyed the template loop. Not entirely sure what that means, but it stopped the template from forming on everyone's pages. If you were trying to create a new template, you'd do best to start from scratch rather than try and put it on an existing page as each template page can only handle one template (unless you're a master of coding and can do some kind of "switch" thing). If you're confused I can find you an expert to talk to, but I hope I've made this clear. Sorry for any inconvenience! — THE TROM — 20:16, 8 January 2009 (UTC)

2 things

  1. Don't capitalize the first letter of every word in a section title.
  2. Pokémon is not spelled "Pokemon", it's "Pokémon".

Project Locations

Heya, Chosen. First, just letting you know that the Project Locations has changed quite a bit recently due to the instructions of the new Project Leader, me. The project has been updated and visually redesigned to make it easier to process. Little tasks and goals have been added to project page to make things run better and to help expand location articles. If you have any suggestions, inquiries, or questions, please don't hesitate to ask on the talk page.--Clarky13 11:47, 23 February 2009 (UTC)

Signature

You may have fixed this already, but there is excess coding in your signature that turns the rest of the page pink. This link shows what you may need to remove. Thanks! — THE TROM — 01:31, 21 March 2009 (UTC)

Hi

I noticed you have been editing the User: namespace a lot recently. You may not be aware of this, but Bulbapedia has a Userspace policy that asks users to try and minimize the number of userspace edits they make in a short period of time. Heavy editing of these personal pages can put undue stress on the server, so please leave your page alone for now and go help out in the mainspace. Bulbapedia is an encyclopedia, after all, so please help us to complete it! If you edit the mainspace more often, you will be allowed to edit your userpage more often too. Thanks! --—darklordtrom 22:49, 31 October 2009 (UTC)

Held items

Thanks for your help. Just make sure that they actually can be caught within the game or can be considered a wild Pokémon (such as in the Battle Pyramid). ht14 22:57, 22 December 2009 (UTC)

cards pokédex data

Only change the template if you get the Japanese dex entry. Not all cards have them, and they need to be retrieved when the template is changed, in order to ensure we get them all. MaverickNate 15:16, 6 March 2010 (UTC)

Cards by Pokémon

I'm doing these all by myself this time. Thank you for understanding. MaverickNate 20:34, 23 July 2010 (UTC)

Something to note

If you are doing any of the wild Pokémon template redesigns relating to Generation II then you should know that the Kanto Grass does not show up in any of the Kanto locations if you use the (all=) coding if followed by the (k) coding. Just want to make sure if you are aware since it is a problem I ran into last night with both previewed and saved versions. -Tyler53841 18:30, 22 August 2010 (UTC)

-moz to roundy

Would you mind using the roundy template instead of using just -moz? There's an example here As you can see it takes off a chunk of code if you do this, and it shows up roundy in browsers that support it. Jellotalk 17:37, 19 January 2011 (UTC)

Hi Chosen, this is a small memento to thank you for the effort you've put into the wikis, not just over the past few months, but over the past few years as well. You're awesome. —darklordtrom 09:33, 14 February 2011 (UTC)

Hi

May I inquire as to why you're changing all the archetype lists from the decklist entry format to the setlist entry format? --P o L i 18:18, 4 October 2011 (UTC)

Ah, well I though it was going to replace it in its entirety, so I was "upgrading" them. If it isn't supposed to be used that way, could you tell me set list should be used? - Chosen of Mana 21:53, 4 October 2011 (UTC)

Usertag images

If you're going to change the images on usertags, it would be ideal if you also set up a parameter to make the image selectable by the person using the tag. There's a lot of stuff that needs doing in the mainspace, which makes usertags an extremely low priority. Unless the tag is broken & needs updating or if the tag has a large request for an update, I'd have to ask that you keep focused on the content areas of Bulbapedia. Thanks, - Kogoro - Talk to me - 14:29, 24 October 2011 (UTC)

Manga Pokemon images.

Thank you for adding those to the articles. But, if it's not too much trouble, could you try and use ones that aren't from Pokemon Adventures? That manga gets far too much focus as it is, and it'd be much better if we use some of the pictures from manga such as Pokemon Pocket Monsters, DPA, or the Electric Tale of Pikachu... Ataro 17:15, 26 October 2011 (UTC)

I'm trying to do that when applicable, but DPA and the like just don't have the wide variety of pictures available. - Chosen of Mana 17:35, 26 October 2011 (UTC)

Whoa, whoa, stop! Your template is mis-categorizing characters under games they aren't a part of. Also, did you get any administrative approval for implementation of that template? - Kogoro - Talk to me - 17:53, 14 November 2011 (UTC)

I'm sorry, it's been sitting there for over a year, and I firgured if I worked hard to fix things, it would solve itself. I really screwed up this time. Should I reverse all my changes? --Chosen of Mana 17:56, 14 November 2011 (UTC)
Yes, please undo the changes to the pages & Template:Card GB NPCs‎, since they're causing category errors. For the wait, sorry about that. We've been rather swamped with multiple projects since Black & White. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 18:00, 14 November 2011 (UTC)

Orre games updates

As one of the last people to work on Colosseum and XD pages, I was wondering if there would be any way we could discuss some of the conventions I was working with over the last summer and where we want to be with those articles.--MisterE13 20:13, 14 November 2011 (UTC)

Well, for starters, could you tell me whete I can find these conventions? - Chosen of Mana 21:39, 14 November 2011 (UTC)
Erm... in my noodle unfortunately... mostly I mean the standards I was trying to create throughout the templates on the Trainer class pages.--MisterE13 22:26, 14 November 2011 (UTC)
So you want me to enter trainer data on those pages? Anything else? You wouldn't happen to know where we can get some clean art, because I am fresh out of ideas lol. - Chosen of Mana 00:57, 15 November 2011 (UTC)
I'm not really sure where one goes for art. What kind of stuff are we missing? For the Trainer classes, do you understand the way I set up Cipher Admin? On a similar note, I was trying to remember if Trainers replace their Shadow Pokémon during their first battle if you catch it then lose.--MisterE13 19:15, 16 November 2011 (UTC)
Similarly, would the Hexagon Brothers have their Shadow Pokémon in subsequent battles or would Miror B. scoop them up as well?--MisterE13 19:57, 25 November 2011 (UTC)

Tooltips

You seem to be both online right now and considerably more Wiki-savvy than I, so I was hoping you could help me. I tried to add tooltips into the Monster Brain article. I couldn't find anything about tooltips in the Bulbapedia Help page, so I tried to imitate the formatting from articles such as N, but it doesn't seem to be working; hovering over the underlined text I added doesn't bring up anything like it does on other articles. Could you please tell me what I did wrong so I can fix it/not make that mistake again? Thanks :) Pumpkinking0192 (talk) 02:18, 6 August 2012 (UTC)

The cause of the problem were the used of quotation marks (" ") in the tooltips. For one reason or another, they do not mix together, and therefore will not produce a tooltip when hovered over. - Chosen of Mana 02:25, 6 August 2012 (UTC)
Ah. Thank you so much for your help! Pumpkinking0192 (talk) 02:28, 6 August 2012 (UTC)

Poké Ball

I've noticed that summary from Generation IV (plus Dream Ball; Lure Ball is in Generation IV coloring, not sure about other if it's the same in Generation V...I'll have to check) is already uploaded, and in case of in-battle, Generation III's uploaded. here... What to do in this case? :c Marked +-+-+ (talk) 14:23, 11 August 2012 (UTC)

It sucks, but we'll probably want to delete the ones you uploaded. I've already replaced those sprites with the ones that already exist. Keep the in-battle sprites for Generations I, II, and IV. Those ones are fine. - Chosen of Mana 16:09, 11 August 2012 (UTC)
Okey. We will need to get some uploading still, as I can't see in-battle the Johto Poké Balls + Dream Ball, and Lure Ball as I said earlier - it changed color in Generation V, so likely both status and battle updated the color. Marked +-+-+ (talk) 16:29, 11 August 2012 (UTC)

U2

What's with the Unova2 edits? -- MAGNEDETH 23:26, 5 May 2013 (UTC)

The locations appear in episodes that use the Unova 2/Season 2 color scheme. You can find this kind of behavior with Kanto locations in the anime:
- Chosen of Mana 23:31, 5 May 2013 (UTC)
The 2 on the end causes a red link because the template uses the name for colors. -- MAGNEDETH 23:51, 5 May 2013 (UTC)

I was wondering...

Since you have X, can you check if this is legitimate? (Well, it's the search option on GTS with shown results, it seems. How hard it is to Photoshop that?) Uploader (talk) 14:09, 31 October 2013 (UTC)

The screenshots are real, but it seems you can enter any name you want as the Pokémon you want by using the "What Pokémon?" option, whether they exist or not. I just sent my Xerneas for a Pikablu.
So no, this isn't concrete proof at all. - Chosen of Mana 15:12, 31 October 2013 (UTC)

Custom PSS Icon

How did you get your custom PSS icon to show up on your userpage? I'm trying to get mine to show up as an image in a usertag I'm using, but it isn't working. Can they even work as an image in a usertag, or do they only work when not used in a usertag? By the way, funny that we both named our Gogoat the same thing (and we both have Greninja & Charizard). Torpoleon (talk) 21:02, 21 January 2014 (UTC)

You're supposed to put the icon on an image hosting service like Tinypic or Imgur and post the image URL on your page. This means that it will not work with pre-existing usertags. You CAN, however, take the coding of a usertag, such as {{User XY}}, and paste it on your userbar. Make sure to take any existing parameters such as {{{moz|}}} - Chosen of Mana 22:02, 21 January 2014 (UTC)

Newbie question about images

Hi Chosen,

I am a new user and just registered my account. I have a question about using images on Bulbapedia and Archives:Image use policy doesn't really answer my question. For articles about cards from the Pokemon TCG, should an image of an english card version be used if one is available? Is an english version preferred over a japanese version? Furthermore, is it okay to use an image from a third party site and upload it? For example, would it be okay to upload this image in order to replace a:File:MoltresexNintendoPromo31.jpg in Moltres ex (Nintendo Promo 31)? (Can I even do this, technically, or does my account first need to be autoconfirmed or something similar?) Regards. Gengar321 (talk) 08:11, 10 April 2014 (UTC)

While I'm not as versed in TCG guidelines as some other members, I believe English cards should take precedence over Japanese ones. At the same time, I'd advise you take that link and contact one of the active admins found on the Project TCG page; we have been warned against taking certain other websites' content in the past, and TCG content is no different. If that image hasn't been uploaded to the archives already, there might be a reason. - Chosen of Mana 12:40, 10 April 2014 (UTC)
Okay, I will follow your advice and contact one of those admins then. Thank you for your help and advice. Regards. Gengar321 (talk) 20:34, 10 April 2014 (UTC)

Availability template switch

So, with the switch from the old Availability template to the new one, are you using a set color for the Pal Park background? Because it seems the old template was using locationcolor/med|land, but I'm seeing different colors around the site with the new template (like a hardcoded #71AD64). Not entirely sure if I should be using a set color or not, or if it depends on the species. Schiffy (瀬藤健二) (Talk Contribs) 19:11, 4/25/2014 (UTC)

The old availability template changed the Pal Park's slot's color depending on the area. I was trying to match that. For example, since Tentacool is found in the sea, I used locationcolor/light|ocean as the color. - Chosen of Mana 21:12, 25 April 2014 (UTC)

Magma "team color change"?

I'm wondering where you got the idea that there's some sort of color change for Team Magma I'm not the sort to keep up with every bit of news, and from a quick look around, I don't see anything. Tiddlywinks (talk) 21:46, 23 June 2014 (UTC)

See the Team Magma page. For a while now, the information template has been using "ground color" as opposed to "fire color". - Chosen of Mana 00:18, 24 June 2014 (UTC)
Okay. I was looking around the wiki some more later and figured that might be what you meant, whereas before I thought you were referring to ORAS, so I was rather lost. =P I guess neither color scheme is exactly official, but I do like it better with ground color. Tiddlywinks (talk) 00:31, 24 June 2014 (UTC)

Curious

I saw your edits to the Clemont's Pokémon template and am wondering something. In the anime, it's been demonstrated that a trainer can only have six Pokémon. How can Clemont have ownership of all six of his and still have Dedenne for Bonnie? Does his Gym team join him after the Gym battle, forcing him to store one, or does Dedenne appear to be a special case? CycloneGU (talk) 15:43, 11 March 2015 (UTC)

Technically, the only Pokémon in Clemont's party right now are Bunnelby, Dedenne, Chespin, and Luxray. However, since Clemont currently has access to his Gym Pokémon, they count as "Active" Pokémon in his roster. It's a case similar to Misty. - Chosen of Mana 16:37, 11 March 2015 (UTC)

Ash's Pokémon Template

Do you think you can fix the Ash's Pokémon Template? I don't think I did it right. Seabiscuit (talk) 16:33, 21 April 2015 (UTC)

I don't see any problems, but the template should be a reflection of the list of Pokémon on the main Ash page. I'll give you the chance to change the page, but you should include your reasoning in the Summary slot. - Chosen of Mana 17:00, 21 April 2015 (UTC)

Thanks for improving the Red's Pokémon template

I don't know how to do Trainer Pokémon templates very well, so it was a wasteland before. Thanks a lot. Technickal (talk) 23:04, 23 April 2015 (UTC)

Route 14 in the anime

I prefer to stay away from the anime stuff because I'm not really familiar with it, but I was wondering if you could help me understand the recent edit you made to Route 14. I've noticed these anime sections being expanded recently, and if I understand the purpose, the Pokemon section (under In the anime) for Route 14 is supposed to identify the Pokemon found there, correct?

But you changed Goomy to Goodra. And, as near as I can tell, Goodra aren't found there, that's just the home Ash's Goodra had when it was a Goomy. Is there a reason it really should be Goodra and not Goomy?

I'm also wondering if Ash's Goomy was the only Goomy in Route 14, or if there were others. It would seem to me that if Ash's Goomy wasn't the only Goomy we know that lived or lives there, then I think it shouldn't show/link to Ash's Goodra/Goomy specifically, it should show/link to generic Goomy. Tiddlywinks (talk) 12:59, 30 April 2015 (UTC)

Goomy was recently changed to Goodra because Ash released it to return to its homeland. There haven't been other Goomy shown living there, either. - Chosen of Mana 13:38, 30 April 2015 (UTC)
I see. Thanks! Tiddlywinks (talk) 14:00, 30 April 2015 (UTC)

"Fall 2015"

I happened to see this edit in the history and took a look, experimenting in preview mode. When I tried "March 2015", it changed the date in the end column to say it was 62 days since the Japanese airing, which shows that the table problem comes from that column. It also means using a month and year calculates in the final column based on the first day of the month. "Fall", however, isn't a calendar month. This is why the last column indicated an unexpected parameter. The only way to solve that problem is to have each seasonal period be treated as a calculable value in the calculations (fall for instance could be September 21). Since I can't edit the template to add something like that - and don't know if it's even possible, anyway! - we can't use do that.

How that enlarged the image? I have an idea. I tested by modifying the line for SS32 to say Fall 2015. The image in that row expanded the same way. I suspect that what happens is any row formatting is disregarded if the row can't be properly completed, and any formatting that might shrink the image thus gets thrown out because the table row is not properly completed. I've forgotten a table ending tag before and ended up having nested tables; that was a bit of a mess...

I would suggest that with the final column acting that way that it would be best to put nothing but an actual date in the previous column. Not because of the image problems, but rather to prevent breaking the table. CycloneGU (talk) 06:19, 2 May 2015 (UTC)

I agree. It appears to be an oversight within the template itself. Even if I could edit it, I don't know how any edits would affect any working uses of the template. It's best to air on the side of caution in this case. - Chosen of Mana 14:41, 2 May 2015 (UTC)

Yay

Beauty, was just about to look at that and you beat me to it. Should we expand the column slightly, however, or is it fine like that? CycloneGU (talk) 03:29, 14 June 2015 (UTC)

It looks fine to me, personally. Thanks for your hard work! - Chosen of Mana 03:30, 14 June 2015 (UTC)
Abcboy lowered them to a quarter size, so yeah, it looks better now to me as well! CycloneGU (talk) 03:33, 14 June 2015 (UTC)

Am I Guessing,...

...you don't have the ability on this side to edit templates? I asked Glik if he could edit Template:Spritebox/3 as the GIF images for Emerald all now have replacements at Archives, but he said he prefers Archive staff handle them. So I'm poking you. =) But being Archives staff, I realize, does not mean template editing abilities where images are involved, so might you be able to co-ordinate activities with him or another staffer for all of the new images in place for Emerald? See the upload log at Archives; I helped tag for deletion the GIFs from around 213 to the end. CycloneGU (talk) 04:18, 17 July 2015 (UTC)
