Pokémon Bloopers is a portion of the Robot Chicken sketch Bloopers! that parodies the Pokémon anime (as confirmed by a character in the sketch). It was the sixth part of the eleventh skit of the episode Junk in the Trunk and first aired in the United States on February 20, 2005. This guide covers a 26-second portion of a sketch whose total running time is 5 minutes 13 seconds.
Synopsis
This synopsis only covers this particular portion of the sketch.
The Bloopers! host introduces this skit as a "rare blooper" from the Pokémon anime. Pikachu and Squirtle are having a conversation in Pokémon speak. Eventually, Squirtle breaks custom and starts speaking with profanity-riddled dialogue in human tongue, claiming the Pokémon speech makes no sense at all. Pikachu asks "Earl" to say the line or he'll get the gas, to which Squirtle asks the kids to "go read a book or something".

- Squirtle (possibly Ash's) (Seiyū: Seth Green)
Trivia
- This portion of the sketch was preceded by parodies of Ling-Ling the panda bear, The Dukes of Hazzard, The X-Files, Superman, and Diff'rent Strokes. Parodies of Star Trek and Battlestar Galactica finished the sketch before the host hung himself.
- The sketch itself parodies Dick Clark's Bloopers programs.
- The Bloopers host here appears to be based on Bob Saget when he hosted America's Funniest Home Videos. However, the quality of him hanging himself appears to be based off Ray Combs of Family Feud fame.
- The name of this portion of the sketch used here is what Adult Swim Video used to distinguish this part of the sketch from other portions of the sketch that are presented as separate videos.
- Although the episode this sketch appears in was rated TV-14 in its initial appearance (unlike Pikachu Secret, which was rated TV-MA to start with), Adult Swim Video has tagged this portion of the sketch with a TV-MA rating.
Behind the Bleeps
Two words said by Squirtle were bleeped out in this skit. Here's what each bleep obscured:
- First bleep: F*ck
- Second bleep: Sh*t
Goofs
- The grass behind Squirtle is moving a tiny bit.
- Pikachu calling Squirtle "Earl" doesn't appear to fit. To date, there has only been one actual Earl in the entire Pokémon franchise--Earl Dervish from Earl's Pokémon Academy. It's possible they may not have known whom Squirtle's voice actor is (Eric Stuart seems to be the universal English-dub voice actor for the species, with his work recycled as stock footage after 4Kids lost the rights), but it may have just been put in as a joke.
