Departing from the Pokémon franchise
I've been a fan of Pokémon for a long time, but I feel like I need to just stop or take a breather. So far in the year 2009 many games have been released or will be released: Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky, Pokémon Platinum Version, Melee! Pokémon Scramble, Pokémon Mystery Dungeon (WiiWare), and Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver Versions. It's asinine for me to try and keep up with so many releases at once when school, other games and activities compete for my attention. The straw finally broke as I was breeding my starters and exclusives on my Diamond cart to send to Platinum. I have over 40 eggs in storage that I would have to send over to get Pokédex data for so I would have to catch 40 useless trade fodder to get them. Once SoulSilver comes out I would have to do the same thing to complete the game and that's out of the question.
If Game Freak would release games every two years or so I might be able to keep up, but with such an insane amount of monsters to catch and train and to have to do it again every year is crazy. It's nice to see so many people like this type of game play and training, competitive battling, etc, but I don't think it's for my anymore, or just right now.
I wish the best of luck to Bulbapedia and the rest of the Pokémon community. I had fun for eleven years, but it had to end sometime. If I ever feel the urge to come back, I know enough to get myself back in the game.
Farewell,
Ryuartyi
