The '''Wedlocke Challenge''' is a variant of the [[Nuzlocke Challenge]], invented by Marriland. The name, also invented by Marriland, comes from 'wedlock', another word for marriage, referring to the fact that opposite-gender Pokémon form pairs. Like the Nuzlocke challenge, the rules are not enforced by the game and are therefore subject to variation.

The Wedlocke Challenge is a variant of the Nuzlocke Challenge, invented by Marriland. The name, also invented by Marriland, comes from 'wedlock', another word for marriage, referring to the fact that opposite-gender Pokémon form pairs. Like the Nuzlocke challenge, the rules are not enforced by the game and are therefore subject to variation.

Rules

  • Any Pokémon that faints is considered dead and must be released.
  • The player may only catch the first Pokémon encountered in each area, and none else. If the first Pokémon encountered faints or flees, there are no second chances. (If the first encounter in the area is a double battle in dark grass, the player can choose which of the two Pokémon they would like to catch.)
  • The player may have three male Pokémon and three female Pokémon in their party at any time. Each male Pokémon forms a pair with a female Pokémon, and the two may only switch with each other in battle.
