In 1997, after moving around too much and ditching Pokémon for Sakura Card Captors, my mom's friend's brother (we lived with them for a while) showed me his Pokémon Gold and Silver versions on his GameBoy Color. He wouldn't let me play them for some reason. Then one day he went to school and I sneaked into his room to play the game for a few hours and continued doing so for the next couple of weeks. Sadly, I couldn't save the games but every new adventure seemed more entertaining than the last. Luckily for me, he never knew a thing.

Although my first games for the GameBoy Color were The Lion King and Kirby's Pinball Adventure, my favorite game of all time for the handled was Pokemon Crystal which I bought in 2001. I later acquired Pokemon Sapphire which I played with my sister's GameBoy Advanced. I can't wait to buy a DS and get the newest game available.

I love the show, the games and everything Poké-related, but I've decided to make a list of all the things that drive me mad about the series.
Pokémon genders. Yes, I'm maybe the only person who thinks Pokémon should not have genders at all. My reasoning is that these creatures aren't even known to have the eggs themselves. Sure, there's some speculation but there's no "tangible proof" that they do it. So why should they have any genders? Even if they did, what would explain Chansey and Blissey's ability to reproduce?
Nidoran♂ and Nidoran♀. It's unnecessary to divide this species into counterparts. Why is it that no other species follow this? Maybe it was an afterthought to represent how boys come from Mars and girls come from Venus or something; it's rather ridiculous.
Ash. It's true. I hate Ash with a passion sometimes. He's stubborn, cocky, selfish, foolish, immature and ignorant. He's probably the only character in the entire series that never changes. I honestly think Mysty could be a better main character than he is.
Team Rocket's incessant appearances. Maybe the show wasn't meant for 15+ year-olds sitting in their butt all day watching kid cartoons. But I remember finding Team Rocket's constant presence to be a pain in my behind. They're good catalysts, I'll give you that, but do they have to intervene every five minutes? Must Meowth always come up with the stupidest plan to capture Pikachu? Must Team Rocket always conveniently hang their stolen goods from their balloon? Nintendo, give us a break at least once in a main episode!
Weak Pokémon in the games. You always get the same stupidly annoying weaklings in every game. Like they're formulated specifically to piss you off. Their evolutions aren't even worth catching them either. You first encounter Bug-type and Normal-type weaklings roaming the inevitable grass road to your first city. Then suddenly Flying-types appear to kick your newly captured Bug-type weakling's butt. And to make matters worse, Geodude and Zubats that will Leech Seed and Rock Smash your party to no end.
Mandatory trading to complete the Pokédex. I'm aware that Nintendo wants to sell us as many of their products as possible, but it's rather shady of them to force us to trade Pokémon so they can evolve.

About Me

I'm an 18 year-old college/senior high school student currently living in Milwaukee, WI. I'm studying for my Visual Communications certificate, specializing in Interactive Graphic Design based on Web Design and Development. What a mouthful! It's basically putting information in relevant places for the user. I'm not an expert at it but I do try my best to make online experiences more pleasant. Though this might change once I decide on something shinier that keeps my attention span.

Pokémon Fandom

I've been a fan of Pokémon ever since it started airing around '95 or '96. Whew, that's a long time.

Anime

In fact, I remember watching the commercials before it aired! The excitement was almost unbearable. And if my memory is correct, I remember even counting down the days to the premier.

That day, after watching the show the first time, my friends and I went to the little park in front of the house where we used to live. We played all afternoon pretending we were Trainers and Pokémon. My most vivid memory could probably be that time I acted as a Beedrill and chased everyone to the monkeybars. Then I was a grouchy Bulbasaur and battled my other friends' Pokémons. It was an amazing day. If I could only turn back time...

Games

In 1997, after moving around too much and ditching Pokémon for Sakura Card Captors, my mom's friend's brother (we lived with him and his big sister for a while) showed me his Pokémon Gold and Silver versions on his GameBoy Color. He wouldn't let me play them for some reason. Then one day he left to school and I sneaked into his room to play his games for a few hours and continued breaking into his room for the following couple of weeks. Sadly, I couldn't save the games but every new adventure I started seemed more entertaining than the last.

Then one of my friends traded me some N64 games for his Pokémon Stadium and Pokémon Trading Card Game.

I'm saving money buy a DS Lite and get the newest game available. I don't really care for the stupid DSi because it lacks the GBA game slot and it's more expensive. Talk about ripping people off!

Pokémon Games I've played:

 • Pokémon Gold (friend's)
 • Pokémon Silver (friend's)
 • Pokémon Crystal (own)
 • Pokémon Trading Card Game (own?)
 • Pokémon Stadium (owned)
 • Pokémon Sapphire (own)
 • Pokémon Ruby (cousin's)
 • Pokémon Stadium 2 (friend's)
 • Pokémon FireRed (cousins')
 • Pokémon Diamond (emulated)
 • Pokémon Pearl (emulated)
 • Pokémon Pinball (cousin's)

Pokémon Pet Peeves
