Would you like to make a prediction? Head to the source to see how to use {{User:Chiefboz/BW release date}} on your userpage! Don't hesitate to use it, I'm willing to offer it as open source for you to use as you wish.

Note to users who've already used it: unless you predicted March 6, 2011, you're wrong!

First and Foremost

Okay, Bulbapedians. I was wrong. You win. It's all over.

Welcome

Greetings, evil minions Bulbapedians. I am the one and only Chiefboz around here, according to the top of the page. But, please, let's leave the calling me by a semi-long name alone, OK? Just call me one of the two syllables: chief or boz, either one works. Let me just quickly say: If you need to get a hold of me, plonk a message on my talk page. I'm on here pretty much every day. If you want to get a rough idea of whether I'm online or not, check the sidebar as there are two spots where it says my (relative) online status.

Life as Chiefboz

I'm from Minnesota, now that's a fact. Supporter of the Vikings, Twins, Wild and the Gophers. No, I don't live in an igloo and go outside wearing shorts and a t-shirt in the wintertime. Thanks for asking. But my house does tend to get ice dams around then, which can lead to water leaking out of the ceilings. Good news: My room's safe, meaning that my computer, DS Lite and DSi should be OK.

As your impression of my userboxes might say, I'm a pure geek in terms of computers. Yes I am. I absolutely loathe Microsoft Windows and PCs, and I have thus turned my entire house into a Mac-only network environment in which iWork and iLife are allowed, while Microsoft Office is not. I have my own laptop—a first-generation MacBook—with which I contribute to Bulbapedia, and I sometimes use my DSi to work on Bulbapedia too. Exactly which one I wind up using depends on my mood, whether my laptop is within reach, and whether or not the second Wi-Fi base station is on and functioning which, considering our network, is somewhat rare.

Because of my computer skills, I actually offer technological consulting for my grandparents as they are considerably old (all of them over 70), and two of them refuse to switch over to Mac. At least they know how to use Skype. What's that? Need me to fix your computer too? Can't do that.

Also because of my awesome skills, I'm in charge of network management at the house. We've been busy upgrading the whole thing to Cat-5 Gigabit Ethernet standards, and we'll hopefully be purchasing ourselves a shiny new Mac mini server. Yeah that's right a server. They offer those things commercially for like a thousand bucks. You want one like Bulbapedia's? Get like ten of those servers and link 'em all up with USB or a giant Ethernet switch. (That actually sounds like fun!) Lucky for me, I got to store the password to manage the Wi-Fi on my laptop, so I can kick everyone off the Internet whenever I want if I feel evil enough to do it. Yeah, that's right, I can make it so that my parents don't have internet. I also can tweak the guest network so that connection 1 of my DSi can use it, rather than connection 4. So yes, I have Wi-Fi that I can use with Pearl and what not.

My role in the fandom

Well, everyone's got a role somehow or another, yes? I was a very, very late bloomer—originating in the second year of Generation IV with Pearl, which I got for Christmas that year. Platinum soon followed in early April, and I got that at Costco for a huge bargain—especially since I got it like two weeks after it came out.

I then decided that, since I had unlocked Pal Park in Pearl, I needed to have something else to work with. Emerald came along and was my first Gen III pack. FireRed and LeafGreen... I don't know when those came, but I do remember that they were in the same package from Amazon.

But that's just the versions. As for the "spin-offs", I've got those three Mystery Dungeon games, two of which (Sky and Blue) were Christmas presents in 2009. Darkness found its way into my possession sometime before that when we were wandering around Best Buy. For Shadows of Almia, we got it used for like ten bucks at GameStop when we were in the area of one. And Guardian Signs, which may or may not be in the tag list yet, was a Christmas present this year. If I get lucky, the original Ranger will be coming my way tomorrow.

I usually carefully plan out my teams, covering for all 17 types whenever possible. The original Sweet Six has its roster at the bottom of the page, in the rare chance you want to see it.

For the first two generations: I know they're classics and all, but I don't really see what's the reason to have them other than they're classics. Have you people forgotten that you can't link Generations II and III? If you could, then that would fix the problem, and my dad's Game Boy—yes that's right an original Game Boy that still works—could actually see some playing time.

What I'm usually doing on the wiki

As the tags say, I could be thought of as a WikiGnome, fixing spelling errors, links, commas, other what not that people forgot to do or did too much of. I'm also a contributor to the Walkthroughs and Locations projects. I'm not an admin yet, but I probably could do something for you if you've got too much to do.

I also love helping out new users—getting them used to wikicode, welcoming them and telling them the strict rules basic guidelines of Bulbapedia, and getting them up to speed. After all, there are well over 45,000 users on here!

Where are your teams Chief!?

The teams, which I had put up previously, are being revamped right now. In order to avoid making the admins have to constantly remind me to stay off the userspace, most of the teams won't show up until I get their templates ready. When I do get them ready, you will enjoy seeing the result, assuming the header template won't get all mad at me and stop working. But that's unlikely.

Need to get a hold of me?

The best way to get a hold of me is via my talk page. Just plonk as many messages on there as you want... the more the merrier! I'll archive it as many times as I need to so don't worry about it! And the only stupid questions you can really ask me are the unasked questions, so don't hesitate to ask for help, be it with wikicode, the MoS, editing pages, whether my hair is actually white (which it is)... pretty much anything you need or want to know. Please keep in mind, though, that I'm not an admin, so if you need an admin's help, you can decide who to yell at get assistance from here.

The second best way to get a hold of me (admins, pay attention!) is via email. Email messages are usually dealt with quickly, but please use the talk page whenever possible.

Like the userboxes denote, I have Skype, Google Talk and Yahoo Messenger, but I would prefer keeping those addresses my little mini secrets that I don't tell anyone. Maybe you could get the Google Talk address if you give me enough cookies and Three Musketeers bars.

My templates and the userspace policy

Anyone is welcome to use my templates. There are two of them I would really like you to use, actually. They are the pages needing attention statistics and the BW release date prediction templates.

If you plan on using the pages needing attention statistics or the BW release date prediction templates on your userpage, there is no need to ask me permission. Feel free to read the instructions and then utilize them as much as you want. Advertise them, if you wish. You can still ask me if you wish, but like I said, that is not required. If I wind up being allowed to move them into the Template namespace, I'll still know who to alert because of the What links here button. (Ever heard of it?)

As for every single other one, though, the userspace policy says you have to ask me. Indeed, you should slap a request on the talk page before you grab them. Such templates include my tags, online status and all of my team list templates. If you want the talk page HP formula, that's not mine. You should ask TTEchidna if you want to use that, as he was the one who stuck the code on his page first.* Like the header says, I don't bite.

The templates can get rather complicated, so if you need help with them, you can ask me about that too.

Um... okay... anything else...

Well, I would show off my team templates, but like I said, those are being revamped right now. I also probably should stop typing here, because more than 14% of Bulbapedia's articles need people like you and me to work on them, as they are either way way way too short or needing more info someplace. There are plenty of other problems with some articles, too. Check out the handy dandy statistics I've pulled together to see how many articles need help and get links to the categories.

In conclusion

STOP READING!!! Bulbapedia's probably falling behind now! Get to work! Unless you want to see my Sweet Six... in that case, here you go.
