Bob's Charmander was Bob's first Pokémon. Bob obtained him from Professor Oak before setting off on his journey.

Charmander's first battle was against Gary's Squirtle. After a fierce battle, Charmander won using Scratch.

While fighting a wild Rattata on Route 1, Charmander learned how to use Ember.

Later on Route 1, after delivering Oak's Parcel to the professor, Bob encounters a Pidgey, which Charmander helped him to catch.

Pidgey
Bob's Pidgey was the first Pokémon Bob caught.

Pidgey was encountered on Route 1, where Bob sent his Charmander out to fight it. Despite landing Tackle with a critical hit, Charmander was stronger and managed to damage it badly with an Ember. Bob then proceeded to catch him.

Pidgey's first battle under Bob's control was against a wild Spearow while looking for a Mankey, which, after a close fight, Pidgey lost to a strong Peck attack.

After healing at the PokéCenter, Bob and Pidgey returned to Route 22 to find a Mankey. Pidgey managed to weaken Mankey with two tackles, allowing Bob to catch Mankey.

Pidgey's only known move is Tackle, and its ability is Keen Eye.
