Location of Fairchild Island in the Orange Archipelago |
Fairchild Island (Japanese: デカポン島 Dekapon Island) was an island in the Orange Archipelago. It is probably the island that Nurse Joy and her team of archeologists discovered the shells of Kabuto in Shell Shock. Although the name is never said in the anime, the map that came with the DVD pack has a picture of Kabuto next to it.
Fairchild Island is uninhabited by humans, except for an old man who watches the island in case anyone enters it. The island is mostly forest. On the side of it, however, there is a bay with a cave in a cliff that holds many, many Kabuto fossils. The island has a prophecy that tells about the island's fate if the Kabuto fossils are disturbed:
When the scavengers arrive, the moon will glow an angry red. The land itself will vanish, and be swallowed by the sea.
Eventually, this did happen, and the island sunk into the sea. With all the Kabuto fossils revived, they swam out to sea to look for a new place to sleep.
