The Tyranitar Half Deck (Japanese: リーダーズポケモン 劇場限定版 Leaders Pokémon Theater Limited Edition) is a special Half Deck that complements the Pokémon VS expansion of cards. It consists of Owner's Pokémon that were featured in the main expansion.
Information
In Japan, this Half Deck was released on July 7, 2001 to commemorate the theatrical release of the fourth Pokémon movie. This version includes Rocket's Tyranitar and a Darkness Energy.
On August 26, 2001, a slightly altered version of this product was given to players at the 2001 Tropical Mega Battle. Rocket's Tyranitar and the Darkness Energy were replaced by the P Promotional print of Tropical Wind. Each player received the Half Deck in their native language; there were 12 in Japanese, six in English, and one each in Danish, Dutch, French, German, Portugese, and Swedish. The cards were produced by MEDIAFACTORY, the company that produced the cards in Japanese, instead of by Wizards of the Coast, so they retained Japanese placings and font styles. During the three rounds at the Tropical Mega Battle, it was revealed that the English print of Clair's Mantine had a misprint on it, which caused the first round to be replayed. The Half Deck was later given away at the 2002 World Championships with the error fixed.
Like many other Half Decks, the Tyranitar Half Deck also includes a rulebook, damage counters, status counters, and a custom coin featuring Celebi.
