Pucks in Pokémon Battrio have at least one set type, a property much like in the core series that determines what moves a particular Pokémon will be weak against or resistant to in battle. A Pokémon's type is indicated by the symbol to the left of the Pokémon's name at the top of the puck across all versions of Pokémon Battrio. These symbols appear on the table to the right.

Battrio includes all 17 types that appeared in the contemporaneous Generation IV and V core games. Only seven types were included in the first expansion, Dialga and Palkia Clash, with a further seven included in the Darkrai Invasion expansion, and the final three in the Mewtwo's Challenge expansion. Pokémon Battrio also later introduced two special types used exclusively on Arceus pucks, relative to its Multitype Ability. The Full-Plate type covers the 17 standard types, whereas the Eleven-Plate covers all but the types of Plate used to create the Jewel of Life as featured in Arceus and the Jewel of Life.

Standard type charts

The effectiveness of types varies depending on the version of Pokémon Battrio, though all follow the same general pattern. The values in the tables below are applied during the damage calculation step. The size of slider bars during the Type Battle phase are also proportionate to the values.

Arceus type charts

With the introduction of Arceus in the Arceus Advent expansion and its two exclusive types, it has the unique ability to change its type to be the most resistant possible to the attacking move. As such, it has its own type chart.

Type Levels

Players with Memory Keys can take advantage of Type Levels to gain bonuses by using Pokémon of a particular type continually in battle. Using a Grass-type Pokémon in battle for example will gain experience, called Type Points, for the Grass type; using three Grass-type Pokémon at once in battle will gain more experience than one. Once a certain number of Type Points have been earned, that type will level up and provide a bonus when a Pokémon of that type is included in the team.

Prior to Battrio V, Type Levels provided an attack bonus during the Type Battle, providing a maximum of +20 attack. In Battrio V this was changed to providing an HP bonus for the team, as Pokémon as of the upgrade were able to over-level and gain attack/defense/speed bonuses as highlighted on the yellow sections on the reverse of pucks. Additional Type Points for a particular type or all types can be bought in the form of items from the Shop or Gacha Machine.

The tables below display the Type Level and bonuses. The maximum type level was 10 prior to Battrio V, however, this was expanded to 100 by the time of the last expansion.
