Trick (Japanese: トリック Trick) is a non-damaging Psychic-type move introduced in Generation III.

Effect

Generation III-IV

The user switches held items with the target. It fails if neither has a held item, if either Pokémon is holding Griseous Orb or Mail, if the target has a substitute, or if either Pokémon has Sticky Hold. It also fails if either Pokémon has Multitype and either of the swapped items is a Plate. In link battles, secret bases, and the Trainer House items stolen will be returned at the end of the battle.

Generation V

Trick no longer switches a Trainer's Pokémon's items permanently; however, items switched in wild battles are permanently switched. Trick will now succeed with a Griseous Orb as long as neither the user nor the target is Giratina.

Trick cannot exchange a Drive if the user or the target is a Genesect.

Pokémon Mystery Dungeon

Trick fails if either Pokémon is not holding an item.
