About each portion

This is a guide on how to properly use this infobox template. Please note that this guide reveals portions that may not be found in the example on the template page.

Colors [color/bordercolor/corecolor]

The colors that are displayed in the infobox. They usually match colors found in the podcast's artwork. Specific colors are defined using their hex triplet codes.

Podcast name [podcastname]

Obviously, the name of the podcast goes here. The podcast's name is displayed in italics.

Affiliated website [mainsite/sitename]

If the podcast has an affiliated website which is significant enough to be mentioned in the podcast’s article, but not enough to have its own separate Bulbapedia article, then it should be mentioned. The website's name is below podcast's name in smaller, plain text. If the podcast does not have a significant affiliated website, or if it is part of a larger website that has its own Bulbapedia article (e.g. Bulbagarden’s Bulbacast), then enter no in mainsite and ignore the website’s name.

Note that various portions are added or changed in the infobox if mainsite says yes. These portions are marked with [mainsite change] or [mainsite add] at the end of their sections in this how-to guide.

Slogan [slogan/sloganline]

If it has one, this will show either a phrase often repeated in the podcast or a slogan that appears in the podcast's description or website.

Image and caption [image/size/caption]

The podcast art should be displayed here in a given size (by width). The recommended size (width) is 240px (pixels), which is usually the size of podcast art as displayed on a portable device, such as an iPod or a Zune. If the image provided has a width smaller than 240px, either enter the image’s full width or provide a larger version of the image that is at least 240px wide.

The RSS feed icon is used as the displayed art for the fictional example podcast, with the caption saying that the actual art for the podcast is not available. The icon is used in the example mainly because the podcast simply doesn't exist. All podcasts mentioned on Bulbapedia will need to have their podcast art displayed in the infobox. The podcast also needs its own unique artwork; the usage of the RSS feed icon as the podcast image will not be accepted.

The image’s caption should say that the image displayed is (apparently) the podcast art, along with a small description of what's in the artwork, if possible.

Language [lang]

The language that the podcast is recorded in. This will normally be English, considering that all podcasts mentioned here are English language podcasts. This is not to say that there aren't any non-English Pokémon podcasts at all, but the amount of Pokémon podcasts that are not in English are so few and far between that they're not really going to have much of a presence on this site. You may have better luck finding articles on such podcasts on one of Bulbapedia's affiliate wikis.

Status

Podcast [podcast_status]

The production status of the podcast. This should be described as being "Active"/"Ongoing", "On hiatus", or "Ended"/"Defunct".

Active/Ongoing - Podcast is still producing new episodes on a regular basis.
On hiatus - Podcast is taking a break from production or has not updated for a long period of time.
Ended/Defunct - Podcast has stopped producing new episodes altogether. "Ended" will be used for podcasts that have decided and managed to produce a final episode, while "Defunct" will be used if the podcast did not announce that it was going to end, hasn’t updated for a long time, and is presumed to be dead. [mainsite change]

Website [site_status]

If necessary, this tells whether or not the website is active. This should be displayed as either "Active" or "Defunct". "Outdated" could also be used in conjunction if the site hasn’t received an significant update, such as a blog post, in a while. [mainsite add]

Run

Podcast [podcast_run]

Any and all of the podcast's separate runs, from the month and year of one run’s beginning to the month and year of that run’s end. If a podcast had more than one run, which is affected by the podcast officially ending a run or going into a long hiatus, please define the runs with line breaks and what episodes (or seasons) were a part of that run. If a podcast is still ongoing, then the last run period should end with "Present". [mainsite change]

Website [site_run]

If necessary, this will be similar to the above, but will usually have only one run. [mainsite add]

Updated [updated]

This is how often and when is/was a new podcast episode usually published. (e.g., "Weekly on Fridays" or just "Weekly".) If the podcast has/had a more random update schedule, this will be described as "Infrequently". If the podcast is no longer updated, ignore adding this portion.

Podcast debuted [debut]

This shows the date when the first episode of the podcast was published, not recorded.

Last episode published [final]

If the podcast has ended or is on hiatus, enter the last episode's publish date in final.

Website opened [site_open]

If necessary, this will display the date that the website opened. This may include dates when the podcast changed its name and URL. [mainsite add]

Website closed [site_close]

If necessary, this will display the date that the podcast's website was permanently taken offline, if the website is closed. If the website is closed, enter the website closing date in site_close. Note that this portion is not affected by mainsite.

Reason [reason]

If necessary, this tells the reason why the podcast has ended. If there is a reason, enter it in reason.

Creator [creator]

Tells the name and/or alias of who made the podcast and, if necessary, website.

Host [hosted_by]

Shows the name or alias of the podcast host(s), all current and former. This would usually show the main host(s), not any recurring co-hosts or guest hosts. Also, it's usually the creator of the show who is always the host, but it may change over time. If the show has had multiple hosts, make a list of the hosts and add the episodes that they hosted.

For example:
hosted_by= Jane Doe (episodes 1 - 20, 40 - 51) Mary Sue (episodes 15 - 50) John Doe (episodes 30 - 36, 38, 42 - 50)|

Will display in the infobox:

Jane Doe (episodes 1 - 20, 40 - 51)
Mary Sue (episodes 15 - 50)
John Doe (episodes 30 - 36, 38, 42 - 50)

Add "current" to the end of a host's run if they are still hosting the show:

Jane Doe (episodes 1 - 20, 40 - current)

If the podcast has a wide variety of hosts (such as Bulbacast), enter "Various" instead.

Number of Episodes [noepisodes]

Displays the number of episodes that the podcast had, obviously. If the podcast is still active or ongoing, or even if it's on hiatus, add an "as of" date.

For example:

Will show in the infobox:

Forum [forum]

Provides a link to the podcast's or website's forums, if there are any. If there are forums for the podcast or its website, enter the forums' name as a weblink in forum.

Mascot [mascot]

If the podcast or its website has a mascot, enter the mascot's name in mascot. The mascot is pretty much going to be a Pokémon, so enter the name as a Pokémon shortlink. (See BP:LLT for more information on link templates.) Note that, unlike the template that this template is based off of, the "Mascot" portion is optional.

Website [weblink]

Goes to podcast's website, whether or not it's that important. As the technical name of this portion shows, this is usually displayed as a weblink.

Feed

This is the most important portion of the podcast infobox. As the name shows, this provides the podcast's RSS feed and other feed links. This how people subscribe to podcasts. There are three parts to the "Feed" portion: RSS, iTunes, and Zune.

With this portion in mind, please remember that Bulbapedia is not a podcast directory for all Pokémon-focused podcasts; only Pokémon podcasts that are notable based on either their contributions to or popularity within the fandom. Bulbapedia originally rejected the now-popular It's Super Effective podcast from having an article here back in 2010 because it was only a relatively new Pokémon podcast at the time. It was about three months old when someone tried to make an article about podcast twice and it wasn't well-known or very popular back then. A year later, they have now become more popular than the late WTPT - Pokémon Radio and earned their article, although the article name was moved from It's Super Effective (which now redirects to a section in damage modification) to its current name, It's Super Effective (podcast).

Simply put, if you've just started your podcast about a month ago, it's not going to be any worth mentioning here. If you've actually been holding your podcast for over a year now, but most fans haven't even heard of it or if it's considered just a typical, everyday, ho-hum, generic Pokémon podcast, then it's probably not going to appear here either.

RSS feed [rss]

All podcasts have an RSS feed. In rss, enter the most recent URL of the podcast's RSS feed, which usually ends in ".xml". (Feeds are stored and defined in XML files.) It needs to be entered even if the podcast has ended and even if there are no content in the feed.

The link is displayed as the RSS icon: File:Feed-icon.svg

iTunes Store link [itunes_link]

Virtually every podcast that's ever made is available on the iTunes Store, so a link to the popular online store and podcast directory is needed in the infobox as a de facto inclusion. In itunes_link, enter the URL of the podcast's entry on iTunes. The URL should show "itunes.apple.com" or "phobos.apple.com" at the beginning after the "http://". Like the above, it needs to be entered regardless of its status or amount of content.

The link is displayed as Apple's podcasting logo:

Zune Marketplace link [zune(_link)]

Unlike the two above, this one is optional, as not all podcasts are available on the Zune Marketplace. The Zune Marketplace, while nowhere near as popular as iTunes, is considered a major online store and podcast directory. If the podcast is available on the Zune Marketplace, and Zune is using its current feed, enter yes in zune and provide the URL, which should show "social.zune.net" at the beginning after the "http://", in zune_link.

The link is displayed as Microsoft's Zune logo:

Currently, there isn't any way to provide other optional feed links beyond Zune.
