Ted Lewis

Ted Lewis is an American voice actor and former director and adaptation writer for the English-language dub of the Pokémon anime. From the second season onwards he is usually credited as Ed Paul.

Pokémon roles

Lewis provided many additional voices along with some of the series' most famous characters, including Team Rocket boss Giovanni and Tracey Sketchit.

He was the original voice of James but left temporarily to do theater. Eric Stuart was supposed to temporarily take over but ended up taking the role for the entirety of the first eight seasons after it was made clear to the dubbers that James and the rest of the Team Rocket trio was more comical then they thought and Stuart's voice was more fitting [1].

In addition to voice acting, Lewis was an assistant director during the fifth season and wrote the adaptation for several episodes of Pokémon Chronicles.

As with most other voice actors who worked with 4Kids Entertainment, he left the series after the eighth season, when Pokémon USA and TAJ Productions took over the dubbing and distribution of the series. His main roles, Giovanni and Tracey, were taken over by Craig Blair, until Lewis later returned to the anime in A Full Course Tag Battle! voicing Roman and to the role of Giovanni in The Thief That Keeps On Thieving!.
