Team Plasma is a type of Pokémon Trainer that first debuted in the Generation V games. This class is comprised of all the members of Team Plasma which battle the player, namely the Team Plasma Grunts, Ghetsis, and their leader N in his final three battles with the player in Pokémon Black and White. In Black 2 and White 2, the player also battles high ranking members Zinzolin and Colress, the latter of which only uses this class during certain battles.

Many of the Grunts use Patrat, Sandile, Scraggy, Purrloin, Trubbish, and their respective evolutions while N, who believes that Pokémon should not be used as tools, utilizes a diverse team of Pokémon found in the vicinity of the battlefield and forms a special bond with a legendary Dragon-type Pokémon. Ghetsis seems to prefer extremely powerful Pokémon when he battles the player.

Grunts fought in the sequels are seen with a more diverse pool of Pokémon, using Pokémon from other regions, mainly consisting of Poison-, Steel-, and Dark-type Pokémon. They share a majority of their non-Unova Pokémon with Team Rocket Grunts. Zinzolin uses Ice-type Pokémon and Colress shows a preference for Steel, Psychic, and Electric types.

In the anime

Team Plasma has been mentioned throughout the Best Wishes series of the anime. Grunts were set to debut in BW023 (unaired) and BW024 (unaired) in a confrontation with Team Rocket, but the episodes were postponed indefinitely due to the Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami, it is unknown other members of the organization also appear in those episodes or if their appearance is being reserved for a later episode.

In the manga

Team Plasma Grunts have appeared alongside N and Ghetsis in the Pokémon Adventures manga opposing Black and the other Pokédex holders.
