Tauros (Japanese: ケンタロス Kentarosu) is a Normal-type Pokémon.

Biology

Physiology

Tauros is a three tailed brown bull with a dark brown mane and silvery horns.

Gender differences

Tauros is a male-only species.

Special abilities

Behavior

They are normally seen in groups.

Habitat

Tauros are rarely found in the wild. However, the Kanto Safari Zone has many herds, and more appear in expansive, grassy meadows found in the western Johto region, among other areas.

In the anime

Tauros first appeared briefly in The Flame Pokémon-athon as one of the Pokémon in the Laramie farm.

Ash captured 30 of this Wild Bull Pokémon in The Legend of Dratini, which was banned in North America, leading to confusion for some. The first time Ash ever used any of his Tauros in a battle was against Drake of the Orange Islands in Hello Pummelo.

Ethan used Tauros to pull his stagecoach in Get Along, Little Pokémon.

Many Tauros where seen in Tricks of the Trade in Palmpona Town.

Tauros was used as a mount by members of Team Rocket.

Name origin

Tauros's name is an abbreviation of its Japanese name, Kentauros, which is comes from Greek Κένταυρος, Centaur. It could also be a misspelling of Centaurus.

It is worth noting that taurus, Latin for bull, is also the name of another constellation, Taurus.
