Taunt (Japanese: ちょうはつ Taunt) is a non-damaging Dark-type move introduced in Generation III. It has been TM12 since Generation III.
Taunt makes the afflicted Pokémon unable to use status moves. The effect lasts two turns or until the subject is switched out. Unlike most status moves, Taunt will affect a target with a substitute. On the turn that Taunt is used, if the Pokémon using Taunt goes before the target and the target selected a status move that turn, the target's move will fail.
The duration of Taunt is changed to between two and four turns.
The duration of Taunt is changed to three turns. Unlike in Generation IV, Taunt can now be reflected with Magic Coat.
In the Mystery Dungeon series
A Pokémon affected by the move Taunt is put under the condition "Taunted". A Taunted Pokémon, as in the main series games, can only use attack moves.
