This is based on personal experiments. A Zubat that is caught in the Cave of Origin in Pokemon Sapphire or Ruby that is exactly 2'7" tall and weighs 17 pounds will be black. It counts as shiny, appearing with the sparkle effect. When transferred to a 4th gen game, it turns green like a normal shiny. I don't know if it retains its black coloration in FireRed, LeafGreen, or Emerald, but it cannot be caught in these games, as the cave of origin is inaccessible.--Zeebiedeebie 18:19, 6 June 2010 (UTC)

:That... sounds ridiculous. No offense to you, but a claim that outlandish is gonna need some pictorial evidence. --AndyPKMN 19:37, 7 June 2010 (UTC)

I've heard of this... I've even found someone who thinks he's caught one before (but the save is long since gone) and I'm asking him about it. (O++O) Dralcax (talk) 23:20, 30 April 2013 (UTC)

001Bulbasaur RG.png Due to special coding in place in the article, the artwork featured on this article will change every year on February 27 and September 30 in celebration of the releases of Red and Green in Japan, and Red and Blue in the United States. This will only affect the artwork shown in the infobox. This changes every year, so when the time comes, here to return to the page and change the display.

Black Zubat

Someone needs to change this...

I have a Zubat in Pokémon Dimond Version that I caught at lv. 6 and it didn't learn astonish until lv. 9. It still doesn't know bite. I think someone needs to edit the Gen. IV learnset. Dolphins_are_awesome! 21:41, 25 November 2008 (UTC)

OK, you know what? I'll test this myself tomorrow to clear up any disagreements, unless someone else does it first--The Kkllnnator blastoise 21:51, 25 November 2008 (UTC)
If you look back in revisions, there is a mistake done by Chungkingpun. Oddly enough, this data matches Golbat's level up table. Gywall(Talk) 21:52, 25 November 2008 (UTC)

OMG!!!

Zubat doesn't start with bite!!!! Somebody fix this!!! Dolphins_are_awesome! 00:52, 26 November 2008 (UTC)

Eyes?

When I first saw Zubat, I thought its ears were eyes. Is this a common thing to mistake ears for eyes?

First with a unique type combination

From trivia:

"If Nidoqueen and Nidoking are not counted, then Zubat is the first Pokemon in National Pokedex order with a unique type combination"

Why would Nidoqueen and Nidoking not be counted? Should that be changed? Flyingtypefan 17:10, 17 August 2010 (UTC)

Different evolutionary lines, even though they can breed. Turtwig's A-B-Cs (talk | contribs) 17:12, 17 August 2010 (UTC)

Oh...I wasn't thinking of it that way. Oops. Flyingtypefan 18:25, 17 August 2010 (UTC)

possible trivia?

How often was Brock's Zubat seen outside in the daylight? Because if it was several episodes, then despite Pokédex entries stating that prolonged exposure will make Zubat unhealthy, Brock's Zubat showed no signs of illness. This would actually be better off on the talk page for Brock's Zubat since it should be in that article but whatever. In A Manica 16:39, 18 December 2010 (UTC)

if this were to be added it would go on his Zubat's page, yes, but overall this is simply an example of anime physics and how the Pokedex lies all the time. -- MAGNEDETH 16:47, 18 December 2010 (UTC)

Perched Zubat

From Trivia: "Zubat doesn't have legs and is always shown flying in the air. It is not clear how it rests on the ground."

However, it is shown in a clip of Pikachu's Adventure, Brock's Zubat was perched on Brock's Onix with his wings wrapped around his body and the two legs/tails splayed behind him. --Mya 01:08, 2 January 2011 (UTC)

Someone please explain me this

I was looking for new stuff on the web when I found this: Pokégusta. Ok, I know it is not in English, but just by the image you can understand, but for it scroll down until you see the Zubat; now look for the Squirtle; now can someone explain HOW IS ZUBAT HOLDING SQUIRTLE!?. Thanks. - unsigned comment from Victin (talkcontribs)
