Generation I accuracy

In Pokémon Stadium 2, Earl mentions Whirlwind among the moves whose accuracy changed since Pokémon Red and Blue. Azure Heights says here that its accuracy was of 84.4% in Generation I. Is there any other source mentioning an accuracy of less than 100%? --Johans 04:29, 5 March 2008 (UTC)

Checking the links in the infobox, and the only note it has [on veekun, although since Azure Heights specializes in RBY i'd think they'd know] is before GSC, it didn't affect trainer battles. I don't have RBY access to check, however. Tina ^δ♫ 04:32, 5 March 2008 (UTC)

RBY accuracy is up to 255/256, or 99.6%. Every accuracy in Gen I is out of 256, instead of out of 100. In Gen II they changed it so it wasn't ridiculous and Surf didn't randomly miss for no reason. TTEchidna 04:45, 5 March 2008 (UTC)

The Bulbasaur picture

I don't like that we're using it. Did Ash actually say "Whirlwind" in the Japanese version of the anime? How do you know he just didn't say "Blow it away" in Japanese and 4Kids didn't just screw things up again? Parents Missing?

In the breeding section, not every parent who is capable of passing down the move is listed. For instance, the Spearow family is not listed as capable of passing it down to Skarmory, when they in fact are. Is this intentional, or should it be corrected? (Sorry if this is a dumb question. I'm new here, and haven't been able to find any rule governing this.) Alphy 22:52, 26 May 2009 (UTC)

Snorlax?

In Japan, Whirlwind is called Blow Away. Is it possible that the trainer, meerly told Snorlax to blow the opponent away? Same goes for Ash's Bulbasaur. I hope when they dub it, the trainer just tells Snorlax to blow the opponent away rather than say "Use Whirlwind!" --Landfish⁷ 02:10, 1 August 2010 (UTC)

Here, fukitobashi / Blow Away = When a wind or breeze blows, the air moves, not blasting something off literally. So, it does make sense. ♫♪AdyNiz♪♫ 15:19, 2 August 2010 (UTC)

Failing (Gen VI)

How come this move fails sometimes even though the Accuracy is --? The Roar page says it fails when used against higher or same level targets. Do those rules apply to Whirlwind as well? Icko (talk) 21:25, 28 November 2013 (UTC)

Pokemon Battle revolution or the entire gen?

in pokemon battle revolution, whirlwind does not work on flying pokemon, despite that being added in generation 2 "Whirlwind can now hit Pokémon using Fly." is this not in generation 4, or is it just the game?

Fly

In Generation III, this move fails during the semi-invulnerable turn of Fly. Can anyone back this up and check during which Generation it started up again? Hydroxybutyric (talk) 18:06, 6 October 2016 (UTC)

Thank you! Yes, I do have info that backs this up, and I believe it actually never did start up again (so that Whirlwind hitting under Fly is a Gen II only thing). So, you may want to add your information, check it in a recent game, or wait until someone else confirms, or until I'll eventually get to this (and other effects).
