Name meaning
OK, so the "nyo" part of the title is the same as the first part of the Japanese names of the Poliwag family (so I were to translate, nyo=Poli). Anyone knows what the "dotchi" part is supposed to mean? --electAbuzzzz 15:38, 1 October 2009 (UTC)

- Actually, I just spent a few minutes with Google, and got to a thread on Serebii claiming the following: "Dojotchi" is the pokemon known as "Barboach" in the U.S. and sounds similar to the word dotchi (which means "which?"). The nyo part is also similar to Nyoromo, Nyorozo, Nyorobon, and Nyorotono ("Poliwag," "Poliwhirl," "Poliwrath," and "Politoed").
- I still don't see a way to translate this title properly, though. Maybe we'll just keep it at its current name... --electAbuzzzz 10:39, 2 October 2009 (UTC)
- I'm pretty sure the "Nyo" is just added for the cute effect. After all, it's the cute pokemon dancing to it. So it's just like, "Which one? Nyo~" not really meaning anything... I translated it (WARNING OF TL;DR)
I went ahead and translated the song. I hope someone else wasn't already working on it... D: I was just bored. But wow this was difficult. So I have some notes on my translation that people can look at should they so wish...
- Overall: I kept all the Japanese Pokemon names in the translation (with tt templates giving the real ones), because most of them were involved in some punning. Some weren't, and it wasn't necessary to use the Japanese names over the English ones, but I did for the sake of consistency. If the consensus is "to hell with consistency," go ahead and change the names not involved in pus to the English ones.
- Also kept "nyo" in tact, though I suspect it's supposed to be a cutesy-ized version of "no," which has a nuance of emotional emphasis, and may also indicate a question. (It could also be a corruption of "nan'yo," which is in turn a corruption of "nanoyo," which is... more or less the same as "no.")
- Line 2: Ugh, this line gave me so much trouble, and I'm still not 100% sure I've captured it completely. "Dacchu" is, I believe, a "cutesy" form of "dattsu." "Grazie" is Italian for "thank you," I'm sure most of you have heard it SOMEWHERE before. HOWEVER. My Google searching for these two terms came up with neither grammatical usage for the former, nor a Japanese-Italian dictionary for the former, so I feel like there might be some sort of reference here... but after taking a cursory glance at those results I'm pretty sure they're the kind of thing that would be referenced. So if you just read this entire paragraph LOL YOU WASTED YOUR TIME.
- Line 8: I was considering using "confuzzling" instead of "confusing," since "magirrashi" is a bit of a corruption of "magirashi," but decided against it because it wasn't THAT much of a corruption... and I also couldn't think of a similar corruption for "puzzling" (puzzuzzling??).
- Line 9: Victory Road leads to a disambig, sorry. Would have used a template, but I honestly am not sure which Victory Road is being referenced here (possibly Sinnoh since it's DP, but they're currently promoting HGSS, so...).
...If you actually read all that, I APPLAUD YOU AND I HOPE YOU FOUND IT INTERESTING, AT LEAST. Oh yeah and I don't think I messed up any templates in the lyrics but if I did I'm sorry. :( 梅子❀✿ 21:10, 12 October 2009 (UTC)
