When I was playing my Crystal, I tried to find roaming pokemon (Raikou) by putting a pokémon (a level 36 Victreebel) in front that was a lower level than Raikou (according to your Pokédex, level 40), but still higher than the wild pokémon in that area. I used a repel so that the wild pokémon would not appear, then used sweet scent, but a random wild pokémon would still appear. Does a repel not affect sweet scent, or does Crystal require a pokémon to appear, even if it violates the repel (since a pokémon of high enough level is not in the area)? | When I was playing my Crystal, I tried to find roaming pokemon (Raikou) by putting a pokémon (a level 36 Victreebel) in front that was a lower level than Raikou (according to your Pokédex, level 40), but still higher than the wild pokémon in that area. Faded scent
In Pearl, I only seem to get a faded scent. Is there some requirement for it to make a Pokémon appear? Gywall(Talk) 15:49, 13 July 2008 (UTC)

- I'm not that stupid, but when I do.. It always has said it faded. Gywall(Talk) 16:14, 13 July 2008 (UTC)
- I received the "faded scent" message once when I tried to use Sweet Scent on Route 228 - the one with a Sandstorm. Perhaps it fades whenever the weather is anything but clear? --TMF Let's Go Mets - Stats 04:36, 15 September 2008 (UTC)
Repel and Sweet Scent
When I was playing my Crystal, I tried to find roaming pokemon (Raikou) by putting a pokémon (a level 36 Victreebel) in front that was a lower level than Raikou (according to your Pokédex, level 40), but still higher than the wild pokémon in that area. I used a repel so that the wild pokémon would not appear, then used sweet scent, but a random wild pokémon would still appear. Does a repel not affect sweet scent, or does Crystal require a pokémon to appear, even if it violates the repel (since a pokémon of high enough level is not in the area)?
