Former Variation

I saw on one move that the "variations" template had "former variations" (something to do with Zap Cannon I think). Leaf Blade had 70 base power, 100 accuraccy, and a high chance for a critical hit. However in Generation V, its power was increased to 90. So, should an adjustment be made to the template, showing "former variations"? I can't do it myself, unfortunately, but thought I'd bring it to attention at least.--Black Yin Zekrom 23:57, 29 January 2011 (UTC)

Charizard Gen.I

It is or level 35 or level 34, but i'm sure it isnt level 36. If it was, then Charizard, if evolved, would learn slash at the same time. But, and i know it for 100% sure, because I play Pokémon Blue, that it isn't level 36. Lokki (talk) 13:00, 19 November 2015 (UTC)

If it already knew Slash as a Charmeleon, it wouldn't learn it, but according to guides both online and in real life it learns the move at 36. --Spriteit (talk) 04:23, 20 November 2015 (UTC)
Yeah, but I played Pokémon Blue, and t learned Slash right before it evolved. It first learned Slash in the Rock Tunnel and then evolved at level 36 into Charizard in the Pokémon Tower.- unsigned comment from Lokki (talkcontribs)
I checked my (Pokémon Yellow) guidebook as well and it also says that Charizard learns Slash at level 36 in R/B/Y. It shouldn't matter which version you have, it still learns the move at level 36. What you said implies that it learnt Slash as a Charmeleon.--ForceFire 10:30, 22 November 2015 (UTC)

But it evolves at lv.36, so if it would be at lv.36 it would be like: " Congratulations! Your Charmeleon evolved into Carizard. Charizard learned Slash" didnt it? I can try to prove it... Lokki (talk) 17:37, 22 November 2015 (UTC)

That is what it would do if your Charmeleon didn't already know Slash, since it did though your Charizard can't learn a move it already knows because it knows it. --Spriteit (talk) 00:22, 23 November 2015 (UTC)
You said it learnt Slash in Rock Tunnel before evolving in the Pokémon Tower. That implies it learnt Slash as a Charmeleon in Rock Tunnel before evolving in Pokémon Tower.--ForceFire 03:07, 23 November 2015 (UTC)
See [1] to see that a Charmeleon l35 already know Slash in pokémon Blue. This is the prove, isn't it? I can swear that i didn't use any cheats or tm/hm Lokki (talk) 14:46, 23 November 2015 (UTC)
It already knows the move. The "X wants to learn Y" dialogue won't appear if the Pokémon already knows the move.--ForceFire 15:02, 23 November 2015 (UTC)
You started out talking about Charizard, Lokki; showing a picture of Charmeleon "proves" nothing about that. Your picture shows a lv35 Charmeleon with Slash. In Generation I, Charmeleon can learn Slash at lv33, so there's no conflict whatsoever between BP and your picture.
If you really want to prove whether Charizard can learn Slash, Lokki, don't let Charmeleon learn Slash at lv33. If you do that and evolve Charmeleon at lv36, you will see that Charizard will then be asked to learn Slash; that will be your proof.
If you want to verify what ForceFire says another way, though, try teaching a Pokemon a TM of a move it can learn by leveling up. For example, catch two Pikachu in Viridian Forest. Teach one TM45 (Thunder Wave) (and if you really want to see them asked to learn a move, teach both of them random other TMs until they have a full moveset), then level them both up to lv9; you'll see that one will learn Thunder Wave and the other won't (because that one already knows it). Or catch a couple Pikachu at the Kanto Power Plant and do the same thing with TM39/Swift; then at lv26 only one of the Pikachus will be asked to learn Swift. Tiddlywinks (talk) 17:03, 23 November 2015 (UTC)
The thing is, that Charizard has Slash in his Start thing, and it's not that Charizard learns the move at level 36, but hasn't got it from the start. Maybe I began this discussion not at the right place, maybe it would be better at Charizard (Pokémon)/Generation I learnset, and not here, but I first saw it there, and made it another level, but than I saw it here, and it was here lv,36 too. So then i thought hey, what is wrong, and placed it here. So okay, then we can close this disscussion and I can change the Charizard (Pokémon)/Generation I learnset? Lokki (talk) 19:59, 23 November 2015 (UTC)
I have almost no idea what you're trying to say above.
Just do like I said above: get a Charmander, evolve it into Charmeleon, don't let Charmeleon learn Slash at lv33, and then evolve Charmeleon into Charizard at lv36. You will then see Charizard is asked to learn Slash (at lv36), proving Charizard (Pokémon)/Generation I learnset to be right. I don't understand what it is you're misunderstanding, but if you just do that you should be able to resolve your own mistake. Tiddlywinks (talk) 20:22, 23 November 2015 (UTC)

(resetting indent)Let's put this to rest. Lokki, this [2] is an unaltered gif of a Charmeleon evolving into a Charizard and learning Slash at level 36 in Pokémon Red. It may take a bit to load as it is over 4MB. Adamws (talk) 03:47, 24 November 2015 (UTC)

Ok, so Charmeleon can learn Slash before level 36, and Charizard only after evolving? Al right, its not that easy as I thought, but okay, I think I understand it now... Lokki (talk) 06:16, 24 November 2015 (UTC)
Charmeleon learns Slash at level 33. Charizard learns Slash at Level 36. Charizard will not learn Slash once it has evolved if it already knows Slash, since why would the game want you to teach it a move it already knows.--ForceFire 07:23, 24 November 2015 (UTC)
