It might be more appropriate and/or respectful to refer to him by his family name rather than his given name. It is more professional, in any case. -Argy

Pronunciation

Err... does anybody know how to say his name. User:GlalieGuy

Like any Japanese name or word. To make it easy, though, Saa-toh-shee Taa-jee-ree. --Pie ~ 20:00, 6 August 2007 (UTC)

His disease

Do we have proof? Plus, when was he diagnosed? AND, wasn't he talking about movie 12 in the endings of a couple DP episodes? He seemed fine, then...--X, PEACE TOTHE DRAGONS ANDTHE BEASTS 04:22, 7 March 2009 (UTC)

Asperger's doesn't mean that you're retarded or anything. It means that you're bad at interacting with people. TTEchidna 04:43, 7 March 2009 (UTC)
I know it doesn't mean that you're retarded if you have it, but, its just that he seemed normal in those times he was talking to the camera... plus, come on, we could use proof and when he was diagnosed to include as proof.--X, PEACE TOTHE DRAGONS ANDTHE BEASTS 04:48, 7 March 2009 (UTC)
Camera. Rehearsal. Not that I'm defending keeping unsourced stuff in. TTEchidna 06:15, 7 March 2009 (UTC)

I don't approve of Asperger Syndrome being referred to as a disease, as I myself have High functioning Autism. It is a disorder that indeed affects a persons social interaction but also affects how someone's brain is wired. Most people who have this disorder often partake in obsessive routine, and become upset when that routine is disrupted. They also have sensory issues where they could hate the sound of sirens or sometimes, hate the touch of rough surfaces. Other times they might hate crunchy foods. Please refrain from calling it a disease because its offending. Also, Asperger Syndrome is a hidden disorder. Most people with this disorder have good coping skills and don't have reason to show any symptoms. Satoshi might actually be that sort of case. Just because he might be an aspie, doesn't mean he is going to automatically show symptoms. He's probably learned how to cope with it. Thanks for your concern. Please note that in our article we have not labeled Asperger's as a "disease"; it is instead noted as "Asperger syndrome" and has been confirmed in an official biography. —darklordtrom 08:24, 11 December 2009 (UTC)

Aspergers

Shouldn't such a drastic claim, such as a disease, at least be sourced by someone reliable, like Tajiri himself or an MD who diagnoses him? I don't think this is fit for an article without a source, because otherwise it's just a rumor, so I've taken it out, and haven't found a reliable source that says anything about Tajiri and any disease or condition he may or may not have. Randomspot555 19:39, 27 May 2009 (UTC)

[1], [2], [3] Sources for Aspergers and the quote from Nintendo, thanks to the Wikipedia article this one is based on. — THE TROM — 19:45, 27 May 2009 (UTC)
Neither of the two sources who claim he has Aspergers say where they got this information, and I highly doubt that some "Best of" lists were the place where this alleged fact originally came from. Again, I don't think such a drastic claim should be made unless backed up by a reliable source, such as Tajiri himself, or a close friend/family member, or someone in the medical profession. Randomspot555 02:58, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
Well if this newspaper isn't good enough for you, and a million other sites dedicated to Asperger's syndrome don't cut the mustard, I'll ask my GP, you start penpalling Tajiri's mum. Maybe we'll hear back before Generation V. — THE TROM — 03:09, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
Again, like the video game sites, the newspaper doesn't say how they know that Tajiri has Asperger's, just that he does. And now it's even more complicated, because some sites say "allegedly", some are definite. Many are just copying/pasting the exact same lines that have appeared on Wikipedia and this article, or again just stating so as it's a matter of fact.
And hey, no need to get smart about it. Asking for a reliable source when claiming something as drastic as a medical disorder should be encouraged, not met with sarcasm. Randomspot555 05:07, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
All the evidence, at the moment, points at Asperger's. If you can prove otherwise, I'd like to see it. — THE TROM — 06:36, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
I don't have to prove that he doesn't have Aspergers. The users who've edited the article have to substantiate their claim. And in this case, none of these sites cite how they know that Tajiri has Aspergers. It's just stated that he does. If you can find a reliable source, I'd love to see it, but I haven't seen one. Randomspot555 20:32, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
This good enough?--Mew a.k.a. Immewnity was here at 20:37, 23 July 2009 (UTC)
The book Satoshi Tajiri: Pokémon Creator which I just got from the library today says he has aspergers. Since it is supposed to be his biography I suppose that's a good enough confirmation... ZestyCactus 23:52, 3 December 2009 (UTC)

The claim that he has Aspergers has been removed from Wikipedia. I'm going to send a message to the author of the biography to see if she remembers the sources, because it seems like a lot of the supposedly legitimate sources are just sourcing each other. In addition, it would be seen as improper to speak about mental or emotional issues so openly in Japan (unfortunately), so I'm extremely doubtful about the claim that he confirmed it himself. Part 2

All of these sources being posted are all regurgitating the same information, which are just listings on blogs or random websites and Wikipedia (though Wiki has since taken down the Aspergers sentence). A claim that a person has a medical condition is a drastic claim, and shouldn't be taken from some secondary/third party source. Other than Tajiri or something speaking on behalf of him, I don't see how any other source can be acceptable. Remember, we're talking about a real-life person. Speculation and rumors shouldn't go into articles on real-life people. Randomspot555 01:51, 1 July 2009 (UTC)

Awards/Info/TV

Through-out the 80s and 90s Tajiri won awards, appeared on several TV programmes, was a game critic on TV,magazines and radio,he was even a guest instructor at a creative school. Should we include any of the information in the article?

I have a source for all this information too, [[4]] --Nyororas20 December 2009 17:23 PM (5:23PM)(GMT + 8)

Celadon Mansion

I'm currently playing Leaf Green. In the development room of the Celadon Condominiums, is the guy in the glasses suppose to be Tajiri? If so, could it be inserted into the article as an in-game cameo like Morimoto has on his article? --Radical Edward2 (talk) 19:01, 3 February 2013 (UTC)

Do you have the dialogue on hand? The characters usually say what part of the game they worked on, so he'd mention something about general design and balance. Additionally, he didn't always wear glasses - neither his appearances on gaming programs or his picture from Time show him with them, so he seems to have started wearing them after RGBY.
