Shouldn't we classify Rotom as a legendary?

No, because it's not. It's just rare. It can breed. It's about as legendary as Sudowoodo in GenII. --DarkfireTaimatsu 19:38, 24 August 2007 (UTC)
Just because it can breed doesn't mean that it's not Legendary. Manaphy is Legendary, but it can breed. Also, there's obviously some significance to it having to same weight, and being directly before the Lake Trio on the National Dex. --Vladek
Not really. Snorlax is directly before Articuno, and it's of the same type as Rotom (i.e. rare but not legendary). And Manaphy is just the exception that proves the rule. --DarkfireTaimatsu 18:34, 23 October 2007 (UTC)
An exception that proves the rule? O_o Last I checked, an exception disproved things. Also, does Snorlax have the same weight as Articuno? Didn't think so. --Vladek

Rotom is not legendary and never will be. Have you seen any tales about Rotom. Or have you read the Pokédex entries? They don't have anything to do with the past. Face it...Rotom is not legendary...File:Ani475MS.gif Agent 448♪♪♪ | DP | File:Ani282MS.gif 07:45, 3 November 2007 (UTC)

Pokemon.com says it isn't in there mailbag so it's that simple it's not a legendary pokemon-File:Ani487MS.gifDarkmaster0File:Ani493MS.gifFile:Ani491MS.gif

I won't say that it is a legendary, but I just want to point out to Optimus35 that Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres, Mew and ESPECIALLY Mewtwo weren't featured in legends either, and they were still referred to as legendary pokémon, so the "Not appearing in legends" thing doesn't really cut it. By legends, I mean folk tales told by NPCs during the various games (which they [the folk tales, I mean] started in Gen II).

Yeah but phione can breed to get itself so why cant rotom be a legendary? Atomix26 15:27, 19 June 2008 (UTC) ~~Weedle_McHairybug~~

The legendary birds had most of their legendary crap in their dex entries. Remember, Gen I was where it was just starting; "legendary" meant little more than "special", one of a kind (or really rare) things. Now of course it means much more, and the birds are in their place with the rest of the trios, with their story kindasorta filled in by the anime. Mew and Mewtwo... well, jeez, who didn't see MSB? TTEchidnaFire echyGSDS! 00:13, 20 February 2008 (UTC)

Music shouldn't be treated as the primary way of determining Legendary status. Next you'll be telling me Shaymin's not a Legendary. Nintendo accepts the Legendary Pokémon to NOT include Rotom, which should be enough, but if it's not, consider this: Rotom can breed artificially and produce another Rotom indirectly or otherwise. Further, Rotom is not the byproduct itself of a Legendary. A solid definition for a Legendary at this point would include two basic structures: The Pokémon is unable to breed another member of the same evolutionary line artificially, though the offspring is still considered a Legendary due to the Legendary parent. A Legendary Pokémon is accepted as Legendary by Nintendo. Only those and nothing more. That's why Rotom is not a Legendary Pokémon.

Technically, Legendaries are all in legends, whch is why Manaphy is one. Phione...ask Nintendo. Optimatum♏Talk|11:15 6 Apr 2008
Not Mewtwo. Mewtwo is canonically too new of a Pokémon to feature in legends.

Coronet?

2-061.png Does this guy look like Rotom or what?--Pokencyclopedia 12:18, 6 April 2008 (UTC)

Are you going somewhere with this or are you just making a comparison? -Sketchies 12:49, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
I'm basically just making a comparison here. But I would also like to know if Rotom's slight resemblance to a Telefang monster is worthy of being mentioned.--Pokencyclopedia 13:11, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
This is your opinion that they share a resemblance...someone's opinion is not fact. I don't see this resemblance. -Sketchies 14:48, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
Well, both Rotom and Coronet's basic form are floating orbs with a spike on top. But if you don't think that it isn't worth mentioning, then I won't mention it.--Pokencyclopedia 14:59, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
Agreeing with Sketchies, we already have enough problems with opinion being treated as fact throughout various Pokémon articles. Trainer-c 15:17, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
..for a second I thought you meant that I was the problem there. o_o To be honest, I don't see any particular resemblance bewtween the two. Tina δ 15:19, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
The fact that that thing's name is Coronet is weird enough. TTEchidna 01:53, 7 April 2008 (UTC)
Because it shares the same name as a location in Sinnoh, or for some other reason?--Pokencyclopedia 20:21, 7 April 2008 (UTC)
I agree that it's probably not worth mentioning, but then I have no ask, should the page say that Rotom resembles Castform? I don't see that big of a resemblance there. ~~Desu 20:24, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

I know this might be the wrong section for this, but: doesn't Castform have FOUR forms (Normal, Rain, Sun, and Hail)? Or is it just talking about forms other than the normal form? Diachronos 17:09, 15 September 2008 (UTC)

New formes

the new formes of pokemon are all rotom! Atomix26 20:13, 8 August 2008 (UTC)

Chek ur talkpage Tavi--KukiTalk 20:45, 8 August 2008 (UTC)

I checked it a long time ago. I think the Onix and Spinda SHOULD NOT be created. First, Onix is just polished and is no different that the other Onix unlike the crystal Onix where it's a different color. Second, Spinda's has many forms in the way their spots are arranged. If many Spinda with different spot arrangements appear in the anime, are we going to make that many alt sprites? The answer is no, so those two shouldn't be made.--☆Tavisource 20:51, 8 August 2008 (UTC)
There's a fairly good chance they could be real... but you remember the infamous fake Skyform Shaymin situation... oh lord.
I can't even find the image on serebii either. This might be one of those instances where someone uploaded an image online and let it spread. Regardless, all the forms with Pokemon lately is kind of messed up... though this is still the best ever- http://keishinkae.deviantart.com/art/NEW-POKEMON-FORME-REVEALED-94669775 ~Toastypk - Loom. 16:42, 20 August 2008 (UTC)

I definitely thought those five new Pokémon couldn't be new because if that were the case, how would players be able to send them to Pokémon Diamond and Pearl. This would mean that there has to be new forms of one Pokémon like Giratina and Shaymin. Also, considering the position of its Pokédex entry #479 just before all of the legendaries and being one of few Pokémon where only one can be caught in the game, it's clear that Rotom is somewhat legendary with the ability to have different forms. Also, don't forget that Rotom's ability Levitate, many Legendaries have that ability (e.g. Uxie, Mesprit, Azelf and the legendary birds even though it's not their actual ability but have immunity to ground type moves). Therefore, the new forms must be of Rotom. I rest my case. Lanturn 13:42, 25 August 2008 (UTC)

As for the forms, I believe that the red, purple, green and orange silhouettes along with the original form of Rotom are in one group because of their identical hands on their sides (despite the green one looks hard to see). The blue one on the other hand might be another Rotom but is much more powerful with the potential of having the sum of the base stats equal to or greater than 600. The blue one looks larger than the rest (slightly although it could be the purple or the green one instead). I'm suggesting blue because it has two different looking arms (although Deoxys normal form has it too). While saying that, I believe this may be the case where the player must have all five forms of Rotom in their party or seen/caught before having the chance to capture this super Rotom (similar to the Regigigas event and the Ho-oh event in Pokémon Crystal). This is what I strongly believe but share in your opinions about this speculation. I might be completely wrong, but I feel that the evidence does sound very convincing. Lanturn 13:42, 25 August 2008 (UTC)

the orange one looks like spiritomb tho.....Happizelpom 13:47, 25 August 2008 (UTC)Happizelpom

Until the formes are officially revealed as to who they are, they should not be included on the page. You may speculate as much as you want (there's another topic on the Bulbagarden Fourms for you to do that, not litter up a talk page...) but it is NOT appropriate to have the Rotom page littered with 'some people speculate that the orange outline is a Rotom forme...'. You guys can wait less than 3 weeks until it comes out, and everything gets confirmed. ←{Berrymaster|Talk|Contrib}→ 13:59, 25 August 2008 (UTC)

serebii.net just got the scan of the leaflets included with Pokémon Platinum that display some of the Rotom's formes (the security camera one is nowhere to be seen) besides it's types and attacks they can learn. Shouldn't we add this to this page and in the main page? Commanderraf 17:12, 10 September 2008 (UTC) Thats what I was thinking I went on serebii and was like OMFG and then went to bulbapedia and alas noting... --Hey1031 20:08, 10 September 2008 (UTC)

Okay, if there are new forms of Rotom... well, put them on the talk page first. The Pokémon Infobox is now a very sensitive template and cannot be changed without advance knowledge. TTEchidna 23:39, 10 September 2008 (UTC)

The lawnmower form reminds me of Fawful for some reason. That face just seems to be screaming "I HAVE FURY!"--Pokencyclopedia 02:00, 11 September 2008 (UTC)

Do you maybe think that Rotom has these forms because it's possesing household objects. Conspiracy! *shifty eyes* Asujoll 9:39 11 September 2008
Rotom's new formes should come with different types... I think the fridge one is Ice/Ghost, the oven is Fire/Ghost, the washing machine is Water/Ghost, the fan is Flying/Ghost and the lawn mower is Grass/Ghost. You can tell because of the moves they learn, acording to Serebii. hfc2X 04:59, 11 September 2008 (UTC)
Should, but don't. Far as I've heard, the data says it's Electric/Ghost in all... TTEchidna 05:08, 11 September 2008 (UTC)

' The Refridgerator one's official name is "Frost Rotom" and the Fan one is "Cut Rotom". Just FYI --Serebii 23:54, 11 September 2008 (UTC)

Rotom names

It seems we finally have all 5 Rotom names:

  • Refrigerator = Frost Rotom
  • Washing Machine = Wash Rotom
  • Fan = Spin Rotom
  • Lawnmower = Cut Rotom
  • Oven = Heat Rotom

Trivia

The Frost Rotom is a Refrigerator. The Wash Rotom is a Washing machine. The Spin Rotom is a fan. The cut Rotom is a Lawnmower. The oven Rotom is a Oven. So, the Normal Rotom is... a Lamp!

Trainer-c 10:09, 12 September 2008 (UTC)

Mmm...I think normal Rotom is just Rotom. It has to have a regular form, doesn't it? Kind of like Ditto and Deoxys have a regular form. Kochdude388 21:37, 12 September 2008 (UTC)

LOL lamb XD.Do you agree with me?§#!π¥£!Ψ@Ϛ#µ 01:31, 13 September 2008 (UTC)

Platinum?

Is Rotom really unobtainable in platinum? Because it says in the in-game locations that it MUST be traded from D/P. hfc2X 01:11, 13 September 2008 (UTC)

If it's not obtainable...then I must have caught another Orange ghost when I examined the TV. Rotom is catchable in Platinum. That needs changed. -Sketchies 01:44, 13 September 2008 (UTC)
The template just says Trade if not filled in. But yeah, you can get Rotom as soon as it's night after getting the ability to use cut in the field. Gywall(Talk) 20:51, 13 September 2008 (UTC)

Spinda

I know we cant make edits yet, but should Spinda be in the piece of trivia that says that Rotom has the most amout of forme of all none legendaries (Exept Unown)? §#!π¥£!Ψ@Ϛ#µ 18:40, 13 September 2008 (UTC)

Spinda doesn't count, very minor difference, just like gender differences. Aura-Knight 21:56, 13 September 2008 (UTC)

So, is it time to take it off of Protect mode?

I mean, I understand the circumstances, but we've gotten the data we need in regards to Rotom in Platinum (I mean, we now know that Rotom is the one who has the shadowed five forms (though, admittedly, it was somewhat predictable, anyways.), we know about the DP secret Key, plus we know the exact nature of the event that it has, so there isn't really a point to keeping it as a "protected page", so who wants to eliminate the Protection? Besides, one of us has to edit the capture info in Platinum, so we need to remove the protect so it can be changed accordingly. Weedle Mchairybug 18:21, 14 September 2008 (UTC)

Forme...

On the page, under evolution, it lists them as "Heat Forme", "Frost Forme", "Cut Forme", etc. No, I'm not questioning the the spelling of forme, but... If I recall, they didn't have Forme in their name. They were just known as "Heat Rotom", "Frost Rotom", "Cut Rotom", etc. ...or do they have Forme? I don't think they do... ~m190049~talk 22:20, 24 September 2008 (UTC)
