Does it work in Generation I games in the same way? If yes, the description should be corrected. If no, a description for Generation III ought to be added. --[[User:Pokeresp|Pokeresp]] 13:47, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

:In Generation I, you probably have to wait a turn before giving more orders, as that was how sleep worked at the time, but I think that change was made between I and II rather than II and III, I could be wrong, but I think that's when, but that was a change made with regards to sleep that effected Rest, rather than a direct change to Rest. That said, it probably should be mentioned. [[User:Gastlys mama|Gastlys mama]] 22:31, 7 December 2008 (UTC)

Does Jirachi learn this at 5 or at 30? And does it really learn it twice?

Yes, I know it's a bit weird, but it gets weirder for evolved Pokémon... And let's not forget Sketch. - 振霖T 00:48, 26 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Sleeping in Generation III

I've noticed that the move in Emerald works in the following way:

Turn 0 (When used). The user regains health and falls asleep.
Turn 1. The user is asleep.
Turn 2. The user is asleep.
Turn 3.The user wakes up and performs an attack if ordered.

Does it work in Generation I games in the same way? If yes, the description should be corrected. If no, a description for Generation III ought to be added. --Pokeresp 13:47, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

In Generation I, you probably have to wait a turn before giving more orders, as that was how sleep worked at the time, but I think that change was made between I and II rather than II and III, I could be wrong, but I think that's when, but that was a change made with regards to sleep that effected Rest, rather than a direct change to Rest. "Stacking" Status Problems

I think it should be noted that even if a Pokemon with Rest is already afflicted by a status condition (example, a wild Snorlax with Paralysis), Rest will nullify this condition in a strange case of being able to "stack" status ailments. I, uh, learned this the hard way. Recalcitrancy 22:17, 19 January 2009 (UTC)

It is already there.--RexRacer -talk 22:18, 19 January 2009 (UTC)

Safeguard

I was wondering... what happens if a Pokémon had used Safeguard and then uses rest? I think that the move fails, but I'm not sure... can anyone test it? hfc2X 07:57, 24 February 2009 (UTC)

It just goes to sleep as normal. I was thinking the same thing, and tried it out earlier today. This was in generation II however, I haven't tested it in more recent games. - unsigned comment from RCF0900 (talkcontribs)

Early Bird

Is Rest affected by the Early Bird ability? --RiverAura 20:36, 13 January 2011 (UTC)

I'm pretty sure it is. That's why it's a good idea to have a Pokémon have both. (at least I think I've heard people say that.) Jo the Marten ಠ_ಠ 20:38, 13 January 2011 (UTC)

Yes, should the Pokemon use rest or be hit with a move that induces sleep then they will wake up when it's their turn to attack. Frozen Fennec 20:45, 13 January 2011 (UTC)

Dutch Name

The Dutch name for this move is probably Rust --- unsigned comment from Stomata (talkcontribs)

What do you mean probably? Is this name from an official source (anime dub, manga translation, book, etc.)? --SnorlaxMonster 12:33, 23 April 2012 (UTC)

It's the best word to use as a translation, there is no other good word for the move - unsigned comment from Stomata (talkcontribs)

We only include official translations. If there is no official translation, we don't provide a name in that language. --SnorlaxMonster 13:12, 23 April 2012 (UTC)

Failing in gen I

"Rest will not only fail if the user has full HP, but also if the user's maximum HP is 256 or 511 and its current HP is one less than that amount."

The way I've always heard this glitch explained was: if (max HP - current HP) is 255 or 511, then healing items/moves will fail. Does Rest fail differently or is this just not worded correctly? (talk) 08:07, 3 August 2014 (UTC)
