How does ユウタ "yuuta" become bartender? Especially when they were calling him "Master", which is what you call a bartender in Japan? Luna Tiger * the Arc Toraph 18:28, 25 February 2010 (UTC)

Someone who must've been Japanese illiterate must've forgotten to remove the Japanese text before saving, I assume... a recent CotD was named Yūta, iirc. ▫▪Ťïňắ 18:37, 25 February 2010 (UTC)
Yeah. It's a fail. I'm for deleting the Japanese name as long as someone finds his actual name from credits (maybe he had a proper name, who knows?). --Maxim 18:40, 25 February 2010 (UTC)

Move to Master (Sinnoh)

This is difficult. The term "master" isn't exactly intended to be his name, but it's rather a title indicating that he is the manager/owner of that particular establishment, whatever it would be called - diner, cafe, bar, whatever. ("Master" in this context is most often attributed to barkeepers, and yeah the place sure looks like a bar (albeit an upscale, kid-friendly one), but... eh.)

I highly doubt that TPCi will choose to rename him "Barkeep" or something, but I also highly doubt that they'll call him "Master," as such a name has completely different connotations in English.

Thoughts? (Aren't loanwords fun??) 梅子 20:39, 26 February 2010 (UTC)

If he doesn't have a proper name in the coming episodes, Master's the closest thing we have. Chances are, he'll get an actual name once it's dubbed, like Sayer did. Not that that's predictable, but if they don't want to be calling anyone "Master" in the sense of student/teacher...eh. But the move should be made, regardless. If he gets a name next week, we can just move it again. Luna Tiger * the Arc Toraph 21:51, 26 February 2010 (UTC)
Why don't we just wait for a mere five-and-a-half days, and if he's given a proper name then, then hey we'll move it. If he's not, we'll come back to this discussion of what the article title should be. There's no reason to potentially make more work for ourselves. 梅子 22:00, 26 February 2010 (UTC)
I've thought on it a bit more, and I think that if we were to move this, we should move it to "Barkeep" (or "Barkeep (Sinnoh)"??), as it's an adaption of his name that carries the same connotations and colloquial sort of feel as "Master" does. But that's just my opinion, so. :/ 梅子 22:45, 26 February 2010 (UTC)
Ultimately, it's this: if he doesn't have a name, but he's called something...that should be his "name". Sayer was simply "Master" and that's what his article was called. Similar in case, we know it's not their real names, but James' grandparents are under Nanny and Pop-Pop and not "James's Grandparents". You can always add for Trivia that "Master" is what one calls a Bartender in Japanese, to explain the reference, if need be. Did DP166 name him? Luna Tiger * the Arc Toraph 13:27, 4 March 2010 (UTC)
