It depends what is defined for each Pokémon, and what is random. I know IVs and Nature are determined at random, as it can be changed by soft reseting the DS and going back to the Entralink forest to catch them again. The Ponyta I befriended was level 10. Are all the Pokémon other people have befriended level 10, is it randomly decided when encountered in Pleasant Forest, or does it depend on the species? I'm assuming that the gender is determined upon encounter in the Dream World, given it's stated on the friend board. I'm assuming that the befriended Pokémon always have their Dream World abilities.

Once we know what's static for each species, we can look at repurposing or adjusting another template as required, it'll probably be easier. Werdnae (talk) 22:28, 13 April 2011 (UTC)

Level isn't really random. Event Pokémon have set ones, like 100 for the DW Arceus. I've had an Aerodactyl at level 12, so it might be area dependent. Not really sure though since most of my Pokémon are still at the forest. Gender, moves, levels are set beforehand, and they always have their DW/hidden abilities. Games depend on the species (or maybe area and species - haven't checked Taillow), so no need to list on every area article. * ^tc²₆tc₂₆ 01:27, 14 April 2011 (UTC)

Questions to investigate

I doubt anyone's gonna have the answers yet; I'm asking this just to put the questions out there for people to consider/investigate.

• Are there only two rare (that is, non-level-up) moves each Pokémon can possible know? If so, we have to remove the extra moveslots in the template.
• Are all Pokémon level 10? Seems like it up to now, though it could always only be in this area, or only those that are unlocked by default. Though, we could generalize at least that "default Pokémon in the Pleasant Forest" are always level 10. Maybe we could omit that field in the template and specify it in text before it.
• Do the two (maybe more) rare moves differ in rarity? I know that the points you earn in a minigame determine if you get more rare moves, but is it random or is one move more difficult to obtain than the other? (For that matter, can you see more than one move on the Pokémon before transferring it to your game? I've only seen one at once, though again, I suck at the minigames.) If they do, we might want to distinguish between them.
• I've heard that females are rarer than males, and that they usually don't come with the rare moves. Can they have the rare moves at all? Or maybe only the least rare one, if there is a least rare one?

1. Pokémon always come with 2 moves. +1 more depending on the score (maybe +2 too I think). People may want to know the ordinary moves they always have, so place all four.
2. All default ones from the forest, from experience, are level 10. Not sure on later ones since mine are still in my forest. Later areas have higher levels, like my lv 12 Aerodactyl from the sky.
3. I think there is a ranking on the moves. For example, I never got Shinx with Night Slash. Only Magnet Rise alone or none.
4. From experience on games, males with the attacks are hardest to get. But since you can purposely get very high or very low scores, females tend to be harder to find since they usually go for middle-ish/not-so-low scores. Based on my observation anyway. ^tc²₆tc₂₆ 07:28, 14 April 2011 (UTC)

Regarding the number of moves, my Sentret has Foresight, Defense Curl, Quick Attack and Covet. Covet was the only move specified by the Dream World as one of its moves (so one of the special ones). Checking Sentret's level up moves, the first three are the moves that a wild level 10 Sentret would have in Generation V (it would also have Scatch, but that was pushed off the moveset by covet). --SnorlaxMonster 07:42, 14 April 2011 (UTC)

Yes, and the two (female) Pokémon I've received have no special moves, but have four moves; all four being the ones they'd know at level 10 in the wild. So yeah, I don't think we should include them (in any case, we would include the four normal and two special, or only the two special moves). Also, we really need to make a better template; when we're talking about 20-30ish Pokémon, maybe we could put them in a vertical way à la the Pokémon section of Team Rocket Grunt (but with more data obviously)... Yeah, I just came here to say that my female Bellsprout had Seed Bomb, so they can have rare moves. Anyways, we should put in here (or maybe somewhere else) what are the "rare" moves we are getting, to see if we can notice a pattern of some moves rarer than others or something. 1) Whether a Pokemon is male or female is set before you play the minigame, whether this affects the moves it gets at the end I don't know.

2) The move given to a Pokemon depends on the Rank you recieve in the game. Each game has five possible Ranks depending on the score. The moves may also differ across different genders.

3) The Pokemon get one move from the Dream World, and the rest of the moves are their normal moveset. Some moves that Pokemon can get from the Dream World are the normal ones though, for lower-points ranks. Knowing the scores you could match and make a list of what rank is what move.
