English and Japanese name origins

Pikipeck is most likely derived from picus (Latin for woodpecker), possibly pico (Spanish for beak or crest), and peck. Tsutsukera is a combination of 突く tsutsuku (to peck) and 啄木鳥 keratsutsuki (woodpecker).--Siobonbon (talk) 18:10, 14 June 2016 (UTC)

The Latin terminology is seen in the scientific names Picidae and Piciformes for the woodpecker family and order, respectively. This is almost certainly part of the name origin and should be included. ~Destruction on Wings~ (talk) 20:21, 15 June 2016 (UTC)

Evolutions

technically, it only showed that it was related to two other pokemon, which can either be evolutions as you pointed out, or other kinds of counterparts. like how weedle is caterpie's counterpart. Yamitora1 (talk) 06:49, 15 June 2016 (UTC)

It is meant to be changed when fully confirmed details are known. In this case, wiki staff have already said that Gen VII information, especially Pokédex entries, will NOT be added until the games are released because of the number of current unknowns as well as the chance that things can change between now and release.
