Is it really 9.8% chance of flinching instead of straight-up 10%? I thought that was just for Gen I, since the whole accuracy/chance of doing a status was set to 255/256... --TTEchidna 16:34, 7 May 2007 (UTC)

Can somebody confirm that King's Rock has no effect on Bite? Judging from my experiences, it would seem that it does have an effect on it, but I suppose it might just be luck. --Thembi 00:53, 1 July 2008 (UTC)

Why wouldn't it? TTEchidna 01:07, 1 July 2008 (UTC)
According to this page, it doesn't.--Thembi 11:16, 3 July 2008 (UTC)

Additional chance of inflicting flinch with King's Rock

This article states there's a 30% increase in the chance of causing flinching if the user of a move is holding King's Rock or Razor Fang. (Well, an increase of 30% of the chance of not causing flinching...) Evolution-inducing held item#King's Rock says the chance is 11.7%. Which one is right? Looce 07:06, 10 January 2010 (UTC)

Gen V update?

Does this page need to be updated? Cause there aren't any eneration V moves on here - unsigned comment from Timmymacky (talkcontribs)

Is there is a p + (1 - p) * 0.1 chance of causing flinching?

Does anyone have the source of this info? --V4Victini (talk) 19:28, 19 October 2012 (UTC)

Well my testing has proved this is false. King's Rock doesn't affect any flinching moves with the exception of Secret Power. --V4Victini (talk) 13:35, 31 October 2012 (UTC)
Well, it is universally accepted to be correct. Looking into it, Spading#Flinchax talks a bit about items increasing the chance of flinching. From what I can see the formula is the flinching caused by the move, as long as it isn't zero, combined with the chance of flinching with the King's Rock. I think that the Smogon was the original source for this information. Hope that helps. --Super goku (talk) 19:18, 31 October 2012 (UTC)
If that is the case then I spoke to them already and had it fixed over there first. --V4Victini (talk) 23:44, 31 October 2012 (UTC)
Huh? To quote: "...Moves that already have a flinch chance in the following list do gain an additional chance to flinch when the user holds King's Rock. The total flinch chance for a move with inherent flinch chance p when the user holds King's Rock and the move appears in the following list is given by p + (1 - p) * 0.1. For example, a Serene Grace Pokemon using Air Slash while holding King's Rock has a 0.6 + (1 - 0.6) * 0.1 = 64% chance to flinch." Smogon has not changed the page since I linked to it. --Super goku (talk) 05:03, 1 November 2012 (UTC)
That is an old page. I haven't tested in 4th Gen because I have no Gen4 Cartridge to test with. If you would check the page that I linked, you would see it is 5th Gen, the most recent and most relevant. Though I am fairly sure this probably still holds true in 4th Gen as well, but until I test it myself I won't edit the dp page. --V4Victini (talk) 12:25, 1 November 2012 (UTC)
