What does it mean when it says "when the location is inquired?" - unsigned comment from TorchicBlaziken (talkcontribs)

When it's checked, I guess. The Dark Fiddler - Nos hablamos? 18:06, 21 December 2008 (UTC)
This is old, but to clarify for anyone else wondering, you have to "inquire" this information from the Pokémon Seer at Cianwood City in Crystal. Diego948 18:22, 18 August 2011 (UTC)

Magneton from in-game trade instead gives "Can't tell" thing. Marked +-+-+ (talk) 10:48, 6 December 2012 (UTC)

I wouldn't be surprised if it was actually for events, or only for Celebi. However, I am interested if the traded Pokémon have the gender of the OT set, even if the location doesn't show up. I suppose the Celebi Egg glitch could test this (since it shifts the Pokémon's data structure up 4 bytes). --SnorlaxMonster 11:40, 6 December 2012 (UTC)
SPECIAL/スペシャル (???, in Korean GS) is the internal name of the shared 2F of any Pokémon Center, according to G2Map. If you force it on another map, the location name indicator doesn't appear and it's ignored/not detected on the Town Map or Pokégear map. The Super Game Boy allows one to confirm that this area is common for every Pokémon Center; i.e., it's not copied everywhere there's a Pokémon Center and the player is redirected to it anytime they access it. I'm not entirely sure how the seer handles Eggs, but would that mean that if you hatched an Egg on the second floor of a Pokémon Center the seer would give the "Special" message for that Pokémon? --SnorlaxMonster 17:06, 27 December 2014 (UTC)
I don't know but it's something to test. The Pokégear map instead shows the location you entered from when you're on the 2F of any Pokémon Center (for example, in Cherrygrove's Pokémon Center, it says the player is in CHERRYGROVE CITY). When I modified Route 29 to be SPECIAL, the Pokégear map defaults to CIANWOOD CITY before I accessed Cherrygrove's Pokémon Center 2F but it defaults to CHERRYGROVE CITY afterwards.
I just tested this in English Crystal with a new save file, for the record. SatoMew 17:23, 27 December 2014 (UTC)
