Nicknames

IMO, the nicknames section kind of makes things look cramped. It also kind of makes the article cross the line between providing useful information and being a triviafest. And the (necessary) all caps sticks out like a sore thumb and makes it look bad. But I'm mostly concerned about the cramping. What do you guys think? - System Error

Mmm.. it IS a list of in-game trades however. I would like to know what nickname my Mr Mime is getting, and the cramping problem doesn't show up for me (I'm using a widescreen monitor though).. TinaTheKirlia ♥ File:281MS.gif 01:39, 13 October 2007 (UTC)

• It's not somuch the fact that it takes up a lot of space as it is...well, actually, that pretty much is what it's about. It has little to do with the size of the screen, though. I am using a 1024x768 resolution, and it still looks bad. Maybe it's just that only one of the sections has the nicknames at the moment, though. - System Error 01:46, 13 October 2007 (UTC)

• Yes, I know. However, I designed the formatting tables for the page in August. Fun fact: I did want to put the nicknames into the tables originally, but I couldn't find a way to do so without making it look bad (plus there was the problem of actually getting them). I also wanted to explain some of them too, but there's not really much to explain about many of them (most are plays on the Pokemon's name or something very obvious), and there's really no place on the page for them, so I scrapped that idea even before the nickname one. A piece of info.

When trading (in diamond/pearl and platinum) -a shiny pokemon: the counterpart received is not shiny. -the IVs of the pokemon obtained are different so are its base stats. twistedpokefan.

Natures?

I started over with Leafgreen a couple of times, and I noticed that the Pokémon I received always had the same nature. The Nidorino always had a Bold nature, and the Mr. Mime had a Timid nature. Should a column be made for this? Hoolo 14:10, 5 June 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, BulbaBot hijacked TTE's account. For the record, the rumors that there will be a Rickroll Forme of Arceus in HGSS are untrue. But seriously, we know what we're doing. Nidorina♀ and Nidorino♂

Are those gender marks really necessary? I'm talking specifically in the FireRed/LeafGreen section. I mean, all Nidorina are female and all Nidorino are male. Phantom♫Junkie 04:52, 15 August 2010 (UTC)

Yes, they're necessary. All other gendered Pokémon in that column have them to denote which gender the Pokémon recieved is set to (all handheld games since Generation III fix the genders of the in-game trades; the only in-game trades post-Generation II that do not fix genders are those in Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness, which is the most recent main-series console game). By your reasoning, we wouldn't need that ♀ symbol next to Jynx either since Jynx is a female-only species. --Shiningpikablu252 15:47, 15 August 2010 (UTC)

Actually, yes, that would be my reasoning. IMO, if a Pokémon is only available in one gender, it shouldn't be necessary to denote that on this page. But at the same time, I guess it's easier to have the male and female symbols for every Pokémon, regardless of whether they are only available in one gender or not. --Phantom♫Junkie 16:14, 15 August 2010 (UTC)
