"Arbitrary code execution" isn't a intended function, and 8F is a glitch item.  (It is used to display floors in elevators).  If 8F is to be included, wsm, 6F, 1F, B1F, and everything else should be too.  Still, 8F is a interesting item and does deserve a page.  --Pokechu22 (talk) 21:09, 14 February 2014 (UTC)

::I'm not quite sure.  However, thinking about it, 8F is actually a dummied out item.  However, so are 6F and the other similar items, as for whatever reason item names were used in menus.  On the other hand, creating a List of glitch items page, similar to this one but with information like GCL's itemdex, would work fairly well.  But there would also be overlap, as the badge items are both dummied out items and glitch items.  --Pokechu22 (talk) 21:57, 3 April 2014 (UTC) <!--Also note: Previous comment had indentation changed for clarity-->

Expand?

Should this be expanded to include stuff like the Surfboard and Teru-sama from older generations? ZestyCactus 16:10, 7 November 2009 (UTC)

Not a bad idea. Go for it. ht14 02:48, 23 December 2009 (UTC)
OMG! I was just thinking of that when i saw the discussion page! :) SpecialK Leiks Lucario and The Celebi Glitch 11:21, 1 January 2010 (UTC)
I've done it. Just add in the Items you need to add. Thanx SpecialK Leiks Lucario and The Celebi Glitch 11:43, 1 January 2010 (UTC)
And turtwig a made it incomplete... SpecialK Leiks Lucario and The Celebi Glitch 15:38, 1 January 2010 (UTC)
I didn't make it incomplete. All I did was add the incomplete tag to show that the list wasn't complete yet. Also, the two words in my username are capitalized. Turtwig A (talk | contribs) 15:40, 1 January 2010 (UTC)
Thats what I meant. Sorry about the capitals. Can you teach me some wiki so I can make a table? Because i read the guide and i didn't get it. can you show me how to do it? SpecialK Leiks Lucario and The Celebi Glitch 15:44, 1 January 2010 (UTC)
If you mean for this article, most articles about items that list them don't use tables. If you mean a table in general, I put a guide to make it on your talk page. Turtwig A (talk | contribs) 16:46, 1 January 2010 (UTC)

Wait

TM51 contains Flash? Does it go Flash, Strength, Surf, Fly, Cut, then, with Cut at TM55? TTEchidna 00:07, 14 January 2010 (UTC)

"List of dummied out *key* items"?

This list includes a lot more than just key items. Should we move it to "List of dummied out items" or something? Of course with the Black and White rush, I know we're all busy.

Anyway, might be worth a look, Samjohn95 21:22, 19 April 2011 (UTC)

I agree with this suggestion. ht14 14:33, 20 April 2011 (UTC)

Suggestion

Shouldn't we put the dummied out items of Leafgreen, Firered,Black, and White in the article?Just a suggestion.--Mewmewmanga 21:41, 27 November 2011 (UTC)♪♫

If someone finds them/there are any, we will. --SnorlaxMonster 15:28, 2 January 2012 (UTC)

Generation V items?

Are any of the following Generation V dummied out items: Cherish Ball, Sacred Ash, Mulch, Honey, Lock Capsule, Generation IV Mail, List of items by index number (Generation V) numbers 428 to 536. Also, are any of those FireRed/LeafGreen items that exist in Emerald's coding for some reason "dummied out items"? ~Enervation 02:24, 29 November 2011 (UTC)

No, those don't count. Maybe Lock Capsule, but lets wait a little longer on that one. --SnorlaxMonster 15:27, 2 January 2012 (UTC)

Missing Generation I items

I know that there's other items missing from the list for Generation I... I don't know the specifics since I don't use emulators or GameShark or anything, but I know of that least two more. There is an item called COIN and an item called ????? (which is not the Surfboard... it's a second item with the same name with a different effect). Someone should look into these and add them.

I just looked at a text dump and those seem to be the only two that are missing. Dannyjenn 03:44, 17 March 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for bringing this up. I was going to add those items to the list, but I was busy on Starfy Wiki and totally forgot to do so. I'm familiar with some of their specifics. If you change the items in any PokéMart, you can actually buy individual Coins for 10 Pokédollars per coin. The trivia section on Coin's page had some speculation on it, so I've since removed it. The second ????? has an index number of 44 (0x2C). Unlike the "surfboard" (0x07) this item does not appear to have a use at all, and gives Professor Oak's unusable message when you try to use it. I believe that 0x07 is actually programmed to act the way it does, and I've found it interesting that its index number is directly after that of the Bicycle, but it could just be a coincidence.
There is another item that is a duplicate of PP UP, occupying index number 50 (0x32). The interesting thing about it is that it has a price of 9800 Pokédollars, which may suggest that the developers put it there in case you were going to buy PP Ups at one point. The real PP Up (0x4F) does not have a buy price (forcing it in a Poké Mart allows you to buy it for 0 Pokédollars). It does follow Nugget (0x31), but Nugget's buy price is 10,000 Pokédollars. Although it shares PP Up (0x4F)'s name, it appears to be unusable and gives Oak's unusable message when you attempt to use it. The item is similar to two items in Generation II, but I'm not convinced they're related. They are "TM04" (dec:195, 0xC3) and "TM28" (dec: 220, 0xDC) and directly follow the index numbers of the real items. They can't be used, but they are found in the items pocket and do not have valid "buy" prices.
The Safari Ball should probably be added to this list. I know that that it has a description on Pokémon Stadium (Japanese) (it uses EUC-JP encoding), in addition to all games from Generation II and onwards. Additionally, IIRC the Japanese names of the Badges are the "unused names" (offset 4A92). (I added details about those unused names on the list of items by index number page under another section) and SnorlaxMonster (talkcontribs) helped me with what one of the names translated to. --Chickasaurus 17:22, 17 March 2012 (UTC)

Possible incorrect information?

So, I was playing Blue Rescue Team, and I was checking the board by the Pelipper Post Office for missions. Suddenly, a reward caught my eye: the Mime Jr. Fig! I had played around with Gameshark on my Red, and I got the notion that it was unused, especially due to its text. Other internet sources confirmed my suspicions... until now.

I am aware of the existence of Wonder Mail Generators, but I assure you I have not used them. I only wish I had immediately saved so I could take a pic of it on the board. Now that it's in my Job List, all I have is the Wonder Mail code:

?6MC Y1Y? F369 KH?X 9MNR J6?W

I can take a pic of it in my Jobs List, though that wouldn't prove much.

The point is, should the Mime Jr. Fig (and presumably the Weavile Fig) be considered dummied? While it has no use, it is normally obtainable. - unsigned comment from Fishaman P (talkcontribs)

While you can obtain the items, they are stored outside the Team Base rather than in the bag. Unless you mean that after you did the mission, it went into your bag and stayed there? --SnorlaxMonster 01:36, 5 December 2012 (UTC)

Huh. I could have sworn you got the statues/dolls for doing star missions, and that I had come across the beta items. Darn.- unsigned comment from Fishaman P (talkcontribs)

UPDATE: It was just the doll/statue for outside the base. False alarm. - unsigned comment from Fishaman P (talkcontribs)

Why nothing for Generation III?

If there were no dummied out items, maybe we should indicate that? As is, it's really confusing. --Wynd Fox 05:21, 18 February 2013 (UTC)

Badges

According to this guy, the apparently superfluous badge items are used internally for the guy you talk to about the badges in Cerulean. Can someone verify this? I'm guessing they'd still count as dummied out, but it's probably worth noting on the article if correct. Yamiidenryuu (talk) 17:42, 24 June 2013 (UTC)

God Stone

According to TCRF, it's removed from B2W2. The graphics are still in the game, including the "key item obtained" graphic. Someone may want to check that (also Mom apparently has text for Route 10... interesting) Marked +-+-+ (talk) 11:05, 3 July 2013 (UTC)

Okay, God Stone is still in. Someone should check the "key item obtained" graphic, though. Marked +-+-+ (talk) 09:50, 7 July 2013 (UTC)

8F

"Arbitrary code execution" isn't a intended function, and 8F is a glitch item. (It is used to display floors in elevators). If 8F is to be included, wsm, 6F, 1F, B1F, and everything else should be too. Still, 8F is a interesting item and does deserve a page. --Pokechu22 (talk) 21:09, 14 February 2014 (UTC)

I'm not quite sure. However, thinking about it, 8F is actually a dummied out item. However, so are 6F and the other similar items, as for whatever reason item names were used in menus.
