Before Gen III

So wait. This move was nearly impossible to get without a GameShark, until Gen III. I'm saying nearly, because of the "remember a move" feature in Stadium 2. Should we mention this? TinaTheKirlia 02:38, 23 October 2007 (UTC)

Forgetting the wild Kadabra on Route 8 in Yellow? If you manage to catch one of those, it knows Kinesis. Of course, you'd be trying your luck, since they also know Teleport...--Shiningpikablu252 03:37, 23 October 2007 (UTC)
So it means that this move is like a beta-move in red/blue? I mean because is unobtainable until you trade a lv.8 kadabra from yellow =S Hfc2x 03:52, 7 April 2008 (UTC)
Actually, Kadabra couldn't know it in R/B until G/S was released, because when Kadabra's traded, it evolves into Alakazam. TorchicBlaziken (talk) 23:16, 20 November 2008 (UTC)
Forgetting the N64 Boxes from Stadium 1? Pokémon don't evolve when transferred between game paks through those. --Shiningpikablu252 23:19, 20 November 2008 (UTC)

So, what happens if you trade a Kadabra with Kinesis onto Red/Blue? I think that would be something to note, that there's a move in a game that technically, cannot be learned by Pokemon in that game itself. Drake Clawfang 18:57, 22 September 2009 (UTC)

Nothing happens, it's like when you trade a Venusaur with Frenzy Plant to RSE. ZestyCactus 19:09, 22 September 2009 (UTC)
Well, apart from it evolving of course. Solar Dragon 19:11, 22 September 2009 (UTC)

Magic Coat change?

Going by data in a Ruby and an XD ROM, it looks like Kinesis isn't affected by Magic Coat in Gen III. But this page doesn't say anything about that.

The same is true of a few other moves (like Roar) that would only be changed to be affected later, and those moves say that in Generation 'X' (I think "V") the move can now be affected by Magic Coat. But not here. Could someone maybe double-check Kinesis vs Magic Coat in Gen III and check it in Gen IV and V? Tiddlywinks (talk) 04:26, 30 May 2015 (UTC)

Contradictory information

I found some contradictory information between this article and Alakazam's Gen I learnset page. This article says that Alakazam does not get Kinesis at all during Gen I, but its Gen I moveset page says that Kinesis is one of its starting moves in Yellow. Does anyone know which of these is actually true? --Gyaradoom (talk to me) 02:10, 5 August 2015 (UTC)

From the trivia:
"In Pokémon Red and Blue, no Pokémon could learn Kinesis; it only appeared as a random Metronome move. From Pokémon Yellow onward, Kadabra has it as a starting move, such that wild Kadabra know Kinesis in Pokémon Yellow and the Generation II games. Kadabra and Alakazam can also be taught Kinesis using the Move Reminders in Pokémon Stadium 2."
So it's not contradictory at all actually --Spriteit (talk) 06:13, 5 August 2015 (UTC)

Yes, but those dashes in the yellow cell are only there for Kadabra, not Alakazam.
