::"(In the Japanese version, Jessie says that the twerps (who are 10-years old) are 10 years too young to talk about love, and James adds that they are 5 years too old for it.)" This means Ash is 10 years younger than 20, and Jessie and James are 5 years older than 20. They're at least 25, but not 15, according to this. ::::Note that CardTrick is quoting from Gabo2oo's translation, as linked above by HoennMaster. FinnishPokeFan92 and Aqua97 above, on the other hand, argue that (and I quote from the former) In the Japanese version, James states that he and Jessie are five years older than Ash and his friends, and since they are 10 years old, this puts Jessie and James at the age of 15. I think, since we have conflicting translations, we should just not include the age at all until we can get a neutral outsider fluent in Japanese to confirm one or the other. :::::The Birth of Mewtwo CD drama is the source for 25. It says that the events with Miyamoto took place 20 years ago, when Jessie was about five. --The Great Butler (talk) 07:39, 10 January 2014 (UTC)
::::::Actually, it's either 23 or 25. Bulbapedia lists 18 as the number of years since Miyamoto disappeared, which contradicts what I've found elsewhere. Either way, it's in that range according to that drama. --The Great Butler (talk) 07:43, 10 January 2014 (UTC)
:::::::In at least the dub of "The Ultimate Test", when Ash is getting ready for the test and Jessie is filling out her form, Ash sees Jessie, and Jessie sees Ash, causing her to turn around and act like she is filling the form out. In the process, she says "Age: <b>Seventeen</b>" RapidashRocks524 (talk) 01:45, 9 October 2014 (UTC)

:::::::: So let me go ahead and offer a third (or fourth or whatever) opinion. (For the record, this is about 29 minutes into the movie, right after Ash gets the first orb.) I read James' line like Gabe 2oo did: they're 25 years old. As to the idea that they're 5 years older than Ash (and company), I don't really see how you can rightly interpret James' line as referencing them; that simply doesn't make half so much sense as him contrasting to "the twerps are 10 years too early" (i.e., James is saying "and we're 5 years too late"). Plain and simple, someone(s) just misinterpreted James.

:::::::: I'm not remotely qualified to say whether this is the be-all and end-all for their ages in the anime, but for M02 it's true enough: they're 25. Tiddlywinks (talk) 02:21, 19 February 2015 (UTC)

::::::::: Even if Bulbapedia says Miyamoto disappeared 18 years ago, I wouldn't put my finger on it. Giovanni says that the story began 20 years ago an afternoon when Miyamoto reported from the jungle. Next time we hear of her is when she already got separated from her two colleagues and got lost in the mountains: she says "I wonder how many years it's been since then though...". But... how many years since when, Miyamoto? It could be since she got lost, but it could well have been since she was first sent to the jungle, or perhaps even since she left Jessie.

::::::::: Then she meets Mew. And she says "Look at this picture of my daughter, Jessie. [...] Nursery school... kindergarten... Child care costs money." This puts Jessie's age, at the time, between 4- and 6-years old. Miyamoto keeps track of Jessie's life at the time throughout the whole CD drama. During the epilogue of the last chapter, we hear Miyamoto saying "I won't give up. The daughter I left is almost an old maid." Translate it as "old maid", "hag", "Christmas cake", etc, that age in Japan is said to be 25 as far as I'm concerned. This puts Jessie's age at the time Miyamoto said that (which is the last we know of her) at 25 or at least almost 25. Equivalently, the events here are implied to happen in the present or at least almost the present, as Giovanni said in the second chapter that the secrets to Mew were rediscovered two years ago. This means Jessie's age at the time after the birth of Mewtwo shouldn't be less than 23. Note that Mewtwo went under Giovanni's training for a time before we get to the movie's events, which are part of the anime's timeline.

::::::::: In the end, Jessie's age is never explicitly mentioned in the CD drama, but is strongly implied. Why is this useful to us? Because our only problem is that we have two conflicting translations from the second movie dialogue here:
:::::::::* FinnishPokeFan92: In the Japanese version, James states that he and Jessie are five years older than Ash and his friends, and since they are 10 years old, this puts Jessie and James at the age of 15.
:::::::::* Gabo2oo (me): In the Japanese version, Jessie says that the twerps (who are 10-years old) are 10 years too young to talk about love, and James adds that they are 5 years too old for it.
::::::::: After checking the CD drama, I can confidently say that my version is the accurate one, because it's the one that doesn't utterly contradict everything that was implied in the drama (nor the fact that Jessie and James drink alcohol and drive trucks without any problem: you need to be at least 20 for both of them). It's 29 minutes into the movie, the scene that got dubbed as the whole "opposite sex" gay joke. --Gabo 2oo (talk) 16:36, 19 February 2015 (UTC)

Aged?
In the most recent dub episode, Jessie stated that Pumpkaboo was the only one who remembered her birthday. If this is the case, then that would mean that Jessie is 26 (going by the Japanese version). I don't know how serious we're going to be with ages for a show where almost 660 episodes can pass, but not an entire year. Because of this, I'm not going to change the main page. If somebody determines that it's appropriate to add, they can do so. Bigpboy (talk) 18:00, 2 October 2015 (UTC)
:The show is a floating timeline so Jessie wouldn't be 26 since barely any of the characters get to age, even if several years have gone by. <span style="color:orange">Patty</span><span style="color:orange">Man</span> 21:44, 4 October 2015 (UTC)

Pokemon

When did Jesse ever have a Magikarp? - unsigned comment from Blackjack Gabbiani (talkcontribs)

Briefly, when James bought one with their combined salaries. - 刘 (劉) 振霖 12:56, 1 Mar 2005 (UTC)
It should be when the Magikarp saler disguises the Magikarp to be Feebas. Jessie want to use Milotic in contest so he bought the Magikarp.-Billy4b2004 05:28, 16 November 2008 (UTC)

Arbok, Lickitung, Wobbuffet, Seviper, Dustox... over half of all the main Pokémon she's used are Poison-type. Does she qualify for the Poison-type trainers category? --Pie ~ 23:06, 15 May 2007 (UTC)

Works for me. She counts more than some people (Like Flint, 2 Fire Pokemon out of 5). You could make a case for James being a Grass-Trainer, while you're at it. - Alan

Croagunk?

Now, I haven't seen the episode with Brock capturing Croagunk, but did Jessie ever own it? To my knowledge, it was just a wild one, and she never owned it. --PAK Man 21:52, 5 May 2007 (UTC)

I think she never formally captured it, but she battled with it, which made it as much hers as Haunter was Ash's. --Pie ~ 22:12, 5 May 2007 (UTC)
Ah, that makes sense. Thanks for the clarification. --PAK Man 22:31, 5 May 2007 (UTC)

It's been a while

It's been like a year since Jessie has gotten a new pokemon. Why is that?

It's been a while since Ash has, too, and he's the main character. Maybe they're just waiting. TTEchidna 21:13, 5 September 2007 (UTC)
Bear in mind Ash only has two slots left and one of those might be the Riolu egg from Iron Island. No idea why they're waiting so long for Jessie, though. - Alan
Johto? They gotta spread them out over the entire arc or else it'll get boring. Between EP002 and EP052, it was just Ekans/Arbok, then it was Arbok and Lickitung until EP146, when she traded Lickitung for Wobbuffet. Then it was just Arbok and Wobbuffet all the way through EP273 and then six episodes into AG. TTEchidna 07:31, 7 September 2007 (UTC)

A Multi-Identity Problem

Um... If Jessalina is used as a redirect to Jessie, shouldn't the other one be redirects? As I recall, she used more than one names as a coordinator.

But she never changed her names since Sinnoh.-Billy4b2004 13:05, 17 March 2008 (UTC)

Jessie's Appearance

In the pokemon anime series, jessie keeps her original style, but, her hair chaged from red to purple, i don't know why, have any of you noticed this?

No, it's just a different shade or red and the lighting. --Theryguy512 11:47, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
No, it's not only the lights, it actually has changed, it did sometime between the original series and the advance one. The reason? I don't know, don't remember it being mentioned ever in the anime. I liked it better red, it looks great, but in purple she looks great too, it makes her look more imponent, don't you think? --YukitoOoO 04:31, 14 February 2009 (UTC)
The real truth is that her hair along with Ash, Officer Jenney and maybe a few other's hair had changed color from EP261 and on. Why? The anime transitioned to digital colorization resulting in few cosmetic changes to characters which are hardly noticeable. Like Jessie's hair. Officer jenny's hair went from blue to green. Ash now has gray highlights in his hair, etc.--[[User:Vhayes1992|Vhayes1992] 19:12, 27 May 2009 (UTC)

EP029

The Hitmonlee that Jessie had in order to enter the P1 Grand Prix, are we putting that in here? If so, would it b under "Borrowed" or "Temporary"?

If we are, it would go under Temporary. They mugged the real Giant for the Hitmonlee, his outfit, and his identity to enter the P1 Grand Prix. That behaviour certainly wouldn't lend to "borrowed"...--Shiningpikablu252 22:31, 26 April 2008 (UTC)

So I guess the Hitmonlee would fall under Temporary then?--KukiTalk 22:48, 26 April 2008 (UTC)

Flashback

In a flashback in AG156, Jessie is seen hanging on a Starmie. I don't know if she really owned it, but it could be listed under Status Unknown. - unsigned comment from Tomazzo (talkcontribs)

Though, PokeAni does mention that she did have a Starmie. But still it can't be confirmed. --ケンジガール 20:44, 4 May 2008 (UTC)

Age

In episode IL episode 56, (55 in US) while signing up for the Pokēmon admissions exam, she says her age is 17. That would mean that if the age listed here is correct, 8 years would have passed since the first season. This means that either this page should be edited or else the age of almost every other main character should be edited (and making Ash 18). Please think about this. - unsigned comment from Platinumcyndaquil (talkcontribs)

I haven't watched it in a long time... got a YouTube link or something? And besides, this is Pokémon. There's inconsistencies everywhere, and Team Rocket are known to bend the truth sometimes... And that reference wasn't in the original, so we don't know how accurate it is.
Anyway, it's not Pokēmon, it's Pokémon. There's a huge difference between macron'd e (sounds like ee) and accented e (sounds like ey). And we don't go by IL/OI/JJ/JLC/MQ/A/AC/AB/BF/DP/BD, we go by EP/AG/DP. TTEchidna 03:33, 21 September 2008 (UTC)

It is a dub only information, isn't it? So, I think that put in trivia is the best thing to do. Rikki Kitsune ~ リッキ キツネ 15:23, 5 January 2009 (UTC)
I was merely pointing it out because i thought it was an inconsistency and that if it isn't changed, be mentioned in an area like trivia. Also, if that age is supposedly real time, then it would also be wrong because she would be about 27 or so. I also pray for your forgiveness, as i just started out yesterday and didn't realize that the "é" was in the character palette, or that there were names other than the season name for episodes. Again, I apologize dearly. - unsigned comment from Platinumcyndaquil (talkcontribs)

Team Rocket's Pokemon

In the box titled "Team Rocket's Pokémon", Smoochum is under both temporary Pokémon and rented Pokémon. Was there more than one Smoochum, or has the status of the Smoochum remain undecided? ~PazuSalmon

No from the episodes I saw there has only been 1 Smoochum that jessie has used, but I think it would be better put under borrowed since it was given to her by professor Rowan to use at the camp.

What is that Moves Used in the trivia section? I know she used them, sort of, to capture Seviper but the section really needs to be expanded if kept at all. Solar Dragon 16:27, 5 September 2009 (UTC)

Yeah! what the heck! I know she did kinda used them, like in AG165 she used Headbutt against the director of the TV show... or something, but it look a lot like "a attack", anyways, she's a human so Moves Used mmmm I'm not sure... If we are to keep that forever then we should see what other characters have *used* moves before to write them all in their respective pages.YukitoOoO 16:14, 1 October 2009 (UTC)
Well, Baron Alberto has Moves Used, though he transformed into a Lickilicky, so that's understandable. Missingno. Master wants YOU! Join the Order of the Glitch! (my talk page) 16:54, 1 October 2009 (UTC)

More trivia

Well, there are a few extra things that would also fit in well into trivia, like the fact that she is the only human to catch a Pokemon without the aid of another Pokemon (She fought it herself)... Also, all of her main battle Pokemon have been snakes. (Arbok and Seviper currently)

Thoughts? Maybe you've noticed other trends or unique aspects of Jessie?

Not the first to catch a pokémon without another. Ash and krabby off the top of my head for one thing. TheAlmightyChris 09:32, 29 January 2010 (UTC)

Jessie's "past" in hoenn

Was it ever mentioned in the article that Jessie kinda hinted of having a past in Hoenn? It was in the first or second episode of AG. Was it even explain any further in the anime, japanese or dub?--Midnight Blue 05:37, 5 February 2010 (UTC)

Is it okay to put anime artwork of Jessie in the anime section instead of the screenshot from an episode. This is the picture I was thinking about. right|thumb|125px|Jessie - Vhayes1992 21:12, 7 April 2010 (UTC)

Episodes in which Jessie gets a ribbon - Category?

Considering she now has just as many as Dawn, shouldn't 'Episodes in which Jessie gets a ribbon' be made a category? Dawn has a category like that, and considering Jessie will more than likely continue into the next anime season it would make sense to create one in my opinion. Am I the only one who thinks Jeeselina should have her own page, or at least a section on this one, sne is known to almost everyone in sinnoh as a skilled coordinator that made it to the semifinals of the grand festival and no one in the anime other than james, meowth and there pokemon no different. Gosh! not again. The thing is, we already had a dispute over this same issue few months ago upon which Kenji decided that we'll use Jessilna for the episode contest articles. Creating an entire article on Jessilina won't be a good idea, however a separate Jessilina section in this article would be a good choice. I know that the info about Jessilina is already mentioned in this article but it's not separated with a boldly highlighted section named Jessilina. ♫♪AdyNiz♪♫ 13:09, 14 August 2010 (UTC)

Jessie being more important

I noticed that Jessie has been way more recognized than James in many types of media. The first sentence

I don't get the first sentence about Jessie, the one that says that she follows Ash and his friends around. In some episodes she and James appeared in, they arrived in an area before Ash and his friends even got there, such as what happened in Gaining Groudon when they landed on an island before Ash and his friends showed up, and in In The Shadow of Zekrom! Giovanni tells Jessie and James to go to Unova as there are strong Pokémon for the trio to catch while Professor Oak takes Ash to Unova with him. PattyMan 19:43, 17 December 2011 (UTC)

Black and White is seperate. As for the rest, Jessie and the others are dedicated to capturing Pikachu. Of course they will get there first - Ash is challenging Gyms so they know where he is going and they often get there first to lay traps and such. Toon Ganondorf (t c) 02:22, 18 December 2011 (UTC)
Haven't they gotten into trouble before for doing all of that stuff? PattyMan 18:05, 21 December 2011 (UTC)

Professor Westwood's Slowpoke

I noticed on Alice Telesu's page, the Shellder that caused Slowpoke to become Slowking is counted as a Pokémon in her possession. Does this equate to anything regarding Westwood's Slowpoke and Jessie's Shellder? What should come of this? Shellder's removal from Alice or adding Westwood's Slowpoke to Jessie's page?--SandmanDP 04:03, 16 January 2012 (UTC)

Jessie temporarily owned Shellder, Westwood and Alice both owned both.--MisterE13 04:09, 16 January 2012 (UTC)
I quote "While Alice never owned the Shellder that evolved with Arthur,...". Jessie only temporarily owned Shellder because she was forced to release it by technicality when it attached to a Slowpoke Jessie didn't own until attachment. The fact that Alice didn't own the Shellder yet is included, and Westwood didn't own Jessie's until attachment. Both Westwood and Alice have Shellder on their pages--SandmanDP 04:17, 16 January 2012 (UTC)
Alice owned the Slowking, that is Arthur and his Shellder, until she released them. Jessie owned a Shellder which attached itself to someone else's Slowpoke and they both therefore belonged to him.--MisterE13 04:20, 16 January 2012 (UTC)
But Alice also released her component. Otherwise what you just said you've previously stated and it gives no answer.--SandmanDP 04:25, 16 January 2012 (UTC)
If I knock a tire down a hill and you put it on your car did I own your car? No, I only owned the tire. What you choose to do with the car after the fact changes nothing to the fact that you owned both the car and the tire for however brief a time.--MisterE13 04:28, 16 January 2012 (UTC)
Is that a yes to Slowpoke or not? I'm seeing it as a matter of perspective--SandmanDP 04:30, 16 January 2012 (UTC)
That means that I owned a tire and you put it on your car, claiming ownership of both. Had you left it there, or given it to someone else immediately afterwards, you still owned both while I may never even have known of the car's existence.--MisterE13 04:38, 16 January 2012 (UTC)
You're trying to walk around a direct answer when a direct answer is what I'm looking for, as you're losing track of what I'm talking about as well as your own metaphor--SandmanDP 04:41, 16 January 2012 (UTC)
Jessie never commanded or owned Slowpoke. She owned Shellder then released it. Westwood owned the Slowbro, including Shellder. Alice owned Slowking, including Shellder, then released both of them.--MisterE13 04:44, 16 January 2012 (UTC)
You're giving Jessie a command requirement while you're letting Westwood and Alice only get off on only needing one requirement. That's certainly unfair and would indeed have Slowpoke qualify as Jessie's--SandmanDP 04:46, 16 January 2012 (UTC)
Slowpoke never belong to Jessie. If anything, Prof. Westwood (unintentionally) stole her Shellder. Slowpoke never acknowledged anybody but the Professor as his owner, Jessie never asserted any ownership over Slowpoke either. I like the car analogy. If I attached your tire to my car, you don't own my car but I pretty much stole your tire. Replace tire with "Shellder" and car with "Slowpoke" and there you go. Same principle. Crystal Talian 05:18, 16 January 2012 (UTC)

Same case could be made from Westwood's perspective. Are you saying that Slowpoke always belonged to the wild as well in Alice's case? You're not making any sense--SandmanDP 05:20, 16 January 2012 (UTC)

But you can't really say the same for the Professor. Shellder had to go wherever Slowpoke went once it was attached, whereas Slowpoke was under no obligation whatsoever to do what Shellder wanted. I don't understand your statement regarding Alice. That Shellder was wild, and was considered "caught" by her when it attached to her Slowpoke. Crystal Talian 05:32, 16 January 2012 (UTC)
Don't know if I'm too late for the party. But to put it simply, Westwood owned Slowpoke(bro), Jessie owned Shellder, that Shellder is stuck on the tail that Westwood still owns, and Arthur was always under ownership of Alice.
The only thing I might see being changed are the ownerships of the two Shellder. I don't think we should have to consider them as a separate entity. Lorelei, Solidad, and Conway do not have Shellder in their Pokémon even though they own Slowbro/Slowking. Only if Westwood and Alice actually owned the Shellder should it belong in their parties. That's just my opinion.
For Slowbro belonging to Jessie? No. Absolutely not. It was never hers. The status of Slowbro should not change just because of the parasitic Pokémon. It doesn't make sense. The same thing for Alice. --ケンジガール 10:56, 16 January 2012 (UTC)

Age in trivia?

In "The Ultimate Test" Jessie says that she is 17 when filing an application form, but in her job,she says she is a diva, doesn't that mean that is not her real age? --Tovirex (talk) 00:38, 6 July 2013 (UTC)tovirex

All female?

Is it trivia worthy to state all of the Pokemon that she has owned, with a confirmed gender are female?--Pokemonboy3000 (talk) 01:47, 16 August 2013 (UTC)

She only has three Pokemon out of them all with a gender confirmed, so I don't think it's particularly trivia worthy. --It's Funktastic~!話してください 01:50, 16 August 2013 (UTC)
Additionally, things that can already be seen elsewhere on the page are discouraged as trivia. Since you can look at the little male/female icons fairly easily, I'd say it's probably not trivia-worthy no matter how many females she has confirmed. Pumpkinking0192 (talk) 02:00, 16 August 2013 (UTC)

Age is 25?

On their respective pages, it says that Jessie and James are 25 as of M02. But I've looked around and haven't found any mention of their ages in relation to that movie. I doubt this is true, so I was wondering if anyone knew of any sources confirming this. The Tomboyish Mermaid (talk) 10:23, 23 August 2013 (UTC)

Apparently this. Don't watch the Japanese versions of movies so I personally can't agree or disagree. --HoennMaster 12:37, 23 August 2013 (UTC)
in the japanese version there is a line that mentions them being 5 years older than ash so it should say 15 - unsigned comment from Aqua97‎ (talkcontribs)
Can you provide us a source this this, please? UxieLover1994 (talk) 12:09, 7 January 2014 (UTC)
"(In the Japanese version, Jessie says that the twerps (who are 10-years old) are 10 years too young to talk about love, and James adds that they are 5 years too old for it.)" This means Ash is 10 years younger than 20, and Jessie and James are 5 years older than 20. They're at least 25, but not 15, according to this. CardTrick (talk) 22:43, 9 January 2014 (UTC)
Note that CardTrick is quoting from Gabo2oo's translation, as linked above by HoennMaster. Pumpkinking0192 (talk) 23:02, 9 January 2014 (UTC)
The Birth of Mewtwo CD drama is the source for 25. It says that the events with Miyamoto took place 20 years ago, when Jessie was about five. --The Great Butler (talk) 07:39, 10 January 2014 (UTC)
Actually, it's either 23 or 25. Bulbapedia lists 18 as the number of years since Miyamoto disappeared, which contradicts what I've found elsewhere. Either way, it's in that range according to that drama. --The Great Butler (talk) 07:43, 10 January 2014 (UTC)
In at least the dub of "The Ultimate Test", when Ash is getting ready for the test and Jessie is filling out her form, Ash sees Jessie, and Jessie sees Ash, causing her to turn around and act like she is filling the form out. In the process, she says "Age: Seventeen" RapidashRocks524 (talk) 01:45, 9 October 2014 (UTC)
So let me go ahead and offer a third (or fourth or whatever) opinion.
I'm not remotely qualified to say whether this is the be-all and end-all for their ages in the anime, but for M02 it's true enough: they're 25. Tiddlywinks (talk) 02:21, 19 February 2015 (UTC)
Even if Bulbapedia says Miyamoto disappeared 18 years ago, I wouldn't put my finger on it.
Then she meets Mew.
In the end, Jessie's age is never explicitly mentioned in the CD drama, but is strongly implied. Why is this useful to us? Because our only problem is that we have two conflicting translations from the second movie dialogue here:
 • FinnishPokeFan92: In the Japanese version, James states that he and Jessie are five years older than Ash and his friends, and since they are 10 years old, this puts Jessie and James at the age of 15.
 • Gabo2oo (me): In the Japanese version, Jessie says that the twerps (who are 10-years old) are 10 years too young to talk about love, and James adds that they are 5 years too old for it.
After checking the CD drama, I can confidently say that my version is the accurate one, because it's the one that doesn't utterly contradict everything that was implied in the drama (nor the fact that Jessie and James drink alcohol and drive trucks without any problem: you need to be at least 20 for both of them). It's 29 minutes into the movie, the scene that got dubbed as the whole "opposite sex" gay joke. --Gabo 2oo (talk) 16:36, 19 February 2015 (UTC)

Given away?

Where in the context of the episode is it stated that Jessie's Unova Pokemon were "given away" to Giovanni? I haven't seen a subbed version of the episode yet. (This also applies to James's Unova Pokemon as well.) PokemonMasterJamal3 (talk) 22:12, 26 September 2013 (UTC)

I think it's best to just assume that's a typo and not an alternate spelling of her name (we have ample evidence that her name is spelt Jessie). --SnorlaxMonster 16:34, 22 April 2014 (UTC)
So we shouldn't say "also spelled as Jesse" or something? Okay, that's fine with me. Pikachu Bros. (talk) 16:47, 22 April 2014 (UTC)

The show is a floating timeline so Jessie wouldn't be 26 since barely any of the characters get to age, even if several years have gone by. PattyMan 21:44, 4 October 2015 (UTC)
