I recently got a piece of trivia about Volbeat hatching from Illumise eggs reverted because "it seems unlikely". I can actually tell you that this has happened to me, though I have no evidence I can show anyone. I bred an Illumise with a Ledian, and a Volbeat hatched. This was done on Pokémon Pearl, in case you want to know. --Someone Else 00:45, 1 February 2008 (UTC)

Volbeat is the male version of Illumise. It's the same with Miltank/Tauros, and Nidoran. Tina δ 00:49, 1 February 2008 (UTC)
I know that. That has nothing to do with my edit being reverted, though. My fact was true, and it got reverted for being unlikely. --Someone Else
Yes, it's true. An Illumise mother can produce a Volbeat egg regardless of whom the father is. The same goes for Nidoran♀ and how it can produce a Nidoran♂ egg.
However, the same does not go for Miltank and Tauros. Miltank can only produce Miltank eggs, no Tauros. If Miltank were to be able to produce Tauros eggs, odds are they wouldn't have made Miltank available as a snag in Pokémon Colosseum, a game that fixed the genders for the starter Espeon and Umbreon in order to prevent breeding for Eevee until FireRed & LeafGreen came out (the Japanese version did the same with an e-Card Scizor). (No, Hitmontop wasn't fixed to be male-only since it was already male-only in the first place.) --Shiningpikablu252 00:56, 1 February 2008 (UTC)
Oh, but they did put Miltank in Colossuem. xD Tina δ 00:57, 1 February 2008 (UTC)
...Ok, so now that another person has confirmed this fact as true, can I safely put the trivia back without it being reverted again? --Someone Else 01:07, 1 February 2008 (UTC)
I would say so. It is a proven fact. So I see no reason why you can't. Trainer-c 06:51, 1 February 2008 (UTC)

Small edit request in the anime Pokedex entries 'lure in Volbeat having them...' can you put a comma in between Volbeat and having. Thanks. Littlmiget123 22:25, 12 November 2009 (UTC)

Trivia

Illumise resembles classical music conductor, including the "wig", "jacket", and "bib". This is also backed up by an episode of the anime, where an Illumise conducts the actions for a group of Volbeat.

Volbeat and Illumise's relationship to one another seem to be based on the relationship between female Photuris fireflies and male fireflies of other genera and species. The female Photuris firefly mimics the flash pattern of the other species in order to lure it in as prey. I'm really surprised these Pokémon were released in 2002 and the super-interesting dynamic here hasn't been noted in the trivia section. --Kodakami (talk) 00:57, 21 October 2022 (UTC)
