I was actually just about to ask that. Is it notable? Happizelpom 04:05, 14 November 2009 (UTC)

I've found Ken Sugimori's official artwork for Hayashigame, Moukazaru, and Pottaishi. The link is right here [1].

Spike

It looks like Spike from The Land Before Time. Is that notable trivia, or am I just insane?

In anycase, Hayashigame is the coolest of all the starter forms. Too bad he doesn't appear anywhere (as of yet), since everyone has either Neatle or Dodaitoise. Satosuke 15:01, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

Judging by the picture on that page, there isn't much resemblance. Their designs were probably based on the same thing but Grotle has the whole Grass-thing going for it. --FabuVinny |Talk Page| 15:29, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
Having looked at that picture, they don't look so similar. But the appearance in overall across the film (and series) caused me, the moment I saw Grotle, to think, "it's Spike from The Land Before Time!" I guess the similarity isn't enough however to merit it being trivia if no one agrees with me though. Oh well. Satosuke 17:30, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
I never noticed it before, but you're right, Satosuke. They both have similar colors, and a beak, with the same head-shape. Ayla 02:15, 20 October 2008 (UTC)

Grotle's Pic

I got a pic of grotle from DP100 preview. It's a bit clear but small.

OK...and? --HoennMaster 15:55, 27 October 2008 (UTC)

I think it's perfect. There's no Ash so it's good for the article. --Me, myself and I 16:39, 27 October 2008 (UTC)
@HM - that's for the article.--kebs. 03:25, 28 October 2008 (UTC)

Name Source?

How do we know it comes from Grove? The way it's pronounced (which shocked a lot of people...) is Grah-tull, which in reality, would make more sense that Grotle stands for Ground + Turtle, which also fits the pronunciation. Is there any official word on where Grotle comes from? Myzou 14:52, 5 April 2009 (UTC)

Well besides being called the Grove Pokémon in the anime, its species is also the Grove Pokémon. That's probably were the idea of 'Grove Turtle' comes from. --Theryguy512 16:45, 5 April 2009 (UTC)
There's also the fact that the Japanese name also uses a word for "grove."—Loveはドコ? (talk contribs) 18:44, 5 April 2009 (UTC)
Guess that makes sense... Though the pronunciation will bug me, lol. Though, I did get an idea from someone, who said they assumed it was Grotto, which in turn, CAN be used as another word for grove... Myzou 01:12, 6 April 2009 (UTC)
But...grotto means cave. And I wouldn't worry too much about pronunciation, honestly. They say "Blas-toyce" instead of "Blas-tus" like they logically should.—Loveはドコ? (talk contribs) 05:42, 6 April 2009 (UTC)
We have always thought it was from "Grow".--Mtn otter We are the Void 01:56, 4 October 2009 (UTC)
