Assuming he's a Rock-type gym leader (he is a rock climber with gems in his hair) I'd say his name comes from granite. I'd argue that's more plausible than pomegranite (he's definitely not a grass-type leader). ++++

Kuro means black/dark Dark Type Gym Leader, Everybody wants this! D: - unsigned comment from Franztrovao (talkcontribs)

Sounds a lot like speculation. Unless you get a reliable source confirming this, we can't say he's going to specialize in the Dark-type. - unsigned comment from Marked +-+-+ (talkcontribs) 14:59, 11 July 2013 (UTC)
It's a speculation. '-'--FranzLiszt (talk) 17:05, 11 July 2013 (UTC)

Gender

Why is his gender classified as unknown? Chomper4 (talk) 17:30, 11 July 2013 (UTC)

Because Zakuro could be a woman. Luna Tiger * the Arc Toraph 17:57, 11 July 2013 (UTC)
I noticed that the gender has been changed to female, and I definitely disagree with that. Like anything else, if we don't know something, especially when it's clear that it's not universally agreed upon, we shouldn't assume or speculate. It should stay as unknown. --It's Funktastic~!話してください 05:35, 12 July 2013 (UTC)
With the amount of bishonen character designs, the gender could very well be male. The image isn't clear enough to determine a gender, so until we receive official confirmation, it would be best for the gender to remain undetermined. Trak Nar (talk) 07:03, 12 July 2013 (UTC)

Zakuro is really a guy based on the Corocoro magazine-- ~~XY6~~July 12, 2013

Exactly how? Also, "Zakuro" is a completely female-exclusive name.--Den Zen 12:39, 12 July 2013 (UTC)

The official website avoids using any gender specific pronouns, so I think we should definitely keep it as unknown for now. -Pokélova! 16:26, 12 July 2013 (UTC)

The official English site doesn't. As other European languages rely more heavily on genders, from the French page I've deduced that Grant is male. --SnorlaxMonster 16:40, 12 July 2013 (UTC)
