This page is create-protected. Would someone mind redirecting it to the move's page? Thanks. Miles (talk) 04:19, 24 October 2013 (UTC)

Done. Masatoshi talk 16:18, 29 October 2013 (UTC)

STAB

So, since this move is, for all intents and purposes, dual type, if it's used by Hawlucha, is Same Type Attack Bonus granted once or twice? Schiffy (Speak to me|What I've done) 19:42, 29 October 2013 (UTC)

Type effectiveness

Just for the record, before adding its type effectiveness to the page I experimented in-game and recorded the move's effectiveness against all Pokémon types I could find. No real surprises here, but my results were:

--Stratelier 20:47, 1 November 2013 (UTC)

Okay, related to the type effectiveness, should tables be put in for when it's under the effect of Electrify and Normalize for easy reference? Just a guy... Arceus42 (talk) 03:17, 7 January 2014 (UTC)

It is already on the page under the normal type effectiveness. Just click on the text called [show] to see them. --Super goku (talk) 03:28, 7 January 2014 (UTC)

If the move is used against something that's 2x weak to both Fighting and Flying, say, Abomasnow or Scrafty, will it deal 4x damage? Drake Clawfang (talk) 19:57, 11 January 2014 (UTC)

Yes. Luna Tiger * the Arc Toraph 20:05, 11 January 2014 (UTC)
Would it be acceptable to note this on the page, then? Drake Clawfang (talk) 20:11, 11 January 2014 (UTC)
Nah, it's obvious from the type effectiveness table.--Den Zen 20:38, 11 January 2014 (UTC)
Is it? The table makes no mention of what happens when both types are weak or resist Flying or Fighting, or conflict. Like, a a Steel and Grass type would take 2x damage since the Flying weakness from Grass and resistance from Steel cancel out, making it weak to Fighting still. A Rock and Flying type takes .5x damage for the reverse reason. If the move is so complex as to demand a table showing the type match-up, I think it would be beneficial to denote what happens in conflicts like these. Drake Clawfang (talk) 20:42, 11 January 2014 (UTC)
The table itself corresponds to which types Flying Press will effect individually as a whole between the two types (Fighting and Flying), meaning whatever is in the x2, x1, x1/2, and x0 categories is already calculated to the effectiveness of Flying Press (so it's really easy math every Pokémon player should know by heart anyway). Helioptle will take neutral damage and you can figure that because Flying Press is x2 against Normal and half against Electric. Gardevoir will take x1/4 damage because both Fairy and Psychic resist Flying Press. Sawsbuck will take x4 damage, Shuckle will take neutral damage, Charizard will take half damage, and Bibarel will take x2 damage. Anything part-Ghost will not be hit at all, because 0 x (insert number) = 0. Spot your types and what damage cat they fall in, and just apply. The damage calculations are right there, so nothing can conflict; you're kind of overthinking it. Luna Tiger * the Arc Toraph 21:41, 11 January 2014 (UTC)

Aerilate, Pixelate, Refrigerate

If the type effectiveness under Electrify and Normalize are on the page, shouldn't the effectiveness under Aerilate, Pixelate, and Refrigerate be there too? FrankTheTank000 (talk) 23:01, 10 February 2014 (UTC)

Flying Press isn't a Normal-type move, so those Abilities don't affect it.--Den Zen 23:05, 10 February 2014 (UTC)
But what about moves first affected by Normalize and then by either one of those? Would those be affected or not? --TakeruDavis[1] 11:22, 24 July 2016 (UTC)
I'm afraid but a Pokémon cannot have Normalize and Refrigerate/ Aerilate/ Pixilate at the same time. Harryghost (talk) 11:37, 24 July 2016 (UTC)
Yes, but what if it happened via Skill Swap move? Would previously owned Normalize affect newly gained Refrigerate/Aerilate/Pixilate or would the effect of it just fade before the new one would kick in? --TakeruDavis[1] 15:57, 24 July 2016 (UTC)
As soon as the Pokemon doesn't have Normalize as its Ability, its Flying Press simply is not Normal-type anymore. That's how Abilities work.--Den Zen 17:32, 24 July 2016 (UTC)

Octuple Damage?

Theoretically, if there was a Pokemon with a 4x weakness to both Fighting and Flying(not that one exists, and with the current type chart it's impossible), could this move deal octuple (8x) damage? Or would it deal sexdectuple (16x) damage? ForgingIron (talk) 18:42, 15 February 2014 (UTC)

16× because of math.--Den Zen 18:59, 15 February 2014 (UTC)
With Normalize in an Inverse Battle you could do up to 16× damage on a Rock/Steel-type. 32× if it had been affected by Trick-or-Treat. --SnorlaxMonster 05:15, 16 February 2014 (UTC)
Actually Trick-or-Treat would reduce to 8×, because Grass would resist Flying in Inverse Battle. Eridanus (talk) 09:28, 16 February 2014 (UTC)

Type-enhancing items

Do moves that increase the power of Flying-type moves, like Sharp Beak and Flying Gem, work on this move? --Flicky1991 08:00, 25 May 2014 (UTC)

No. Only moves that increase the power of Fighting-type moves will work.--V4Victini (talk) 01:41, 14 July 2014 (UTC)

Signature move

It isn't Hawlucha's signature move for now, because Pikachu Libre knows this move. Asmod96 (talk) 13:04, 8 August 2014 (UTC)

But Pikachu Libre is a special case, only one pikachu in the game can become pikachu libre and then it learns it as a 'special move'. Hawlucha is still the only pokemon that learns it by level up. I say it still counts as Hawlucha's signature move Jmvb (talk) 20:03, 4 December 2014 (UTC)

Typing

Given the typing of this move, it presents the possibility of future moves doing the same, no matter how few. Wouldn't this justify reworking the relevant templates to accept double-type parameters, like the individual Pokemon infoboxes? Draceon (talk) 01:13, 27 December 2014 (UTC)

Since this is the only one, we won't be needing anything like that for now. When Gen VII introduces more, maybe.--ForceFire 03:26, 27 December 2014 (UTC)
Additionally, this move is only Fighting-type. It has an effect that also gives it the effectiveness of a Flying-type move, but for all other mechanics it is a Fighting-type move. Even if we get more, I don't think we should have an additional display. --SnorlaxMonster 17:34, 8 January 2015 (UTC)

Protean?

Would it even be worth mentioning what type(s) Protean/Color Change would choose on using/being hit by Flying Press? --Aescula (talk) 11:43, 8 January 2015 (UTC)

No, since it already says that the move isn't any different from other Fighting-type moves beyond the effectivness. glikglak 13:04, 8 January 2015 (UTC)

Type effectiveness - Inverse + Electrify/Normalize

Can we also add how this move would be effective in Inverse Battles while under the effects of Electrify or Normalize? I know that would make the listing a bit longer, but we could hide it into dropdown. --TakeruDavis[1] 11:26, 24 July 2016 (UTC)
