Name origin

Hah, took a little while, but Thorton is probably a corruption of Thorn. Fits with plant motif.Aura-Knight 16:08, 19 March 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, it's the only thing I could think of. I was waiting for something a bit more fulfilling to pop into my head, but...nope. Might as well put it up as a placeholder.—Loveはドコ? (talk contribs) 00:39, 20 March 2009 (UTC)
When I searched Wikipedia for "Thorton" it came up as the name of a computer chip. This might be another source of the name, considering who it describes. --The Great Butler 01:29, 21 March 2009 (UTC)
Doubt it. When you look at all the FBs, they all relate to plants. Palmer, Dahlia, ... and the others are scientific/old foreign language names. — THE TROM — 01:44, 21 March 2009 (UTC)

Pocket

Are you guys sure it isn't a back pocket? *tc26* 00:47, 20 March 2009 (UTC)

There's a strap that goes through it. So no. — THE TROM — 01:08, 20 March 2009 (UTC)

Vs. Recorder

  1. There's no proof it's a Vs. Recorder.
  2. He talks as if it isn't a Vs. Recorder.
  3. It's not the same color as the player's Vs. Recorder, and so far there's been no proof they can be different colors.
  4. Thorton's device, closed, doesn't resemble a closed Vs. Recorder.
  5. He calls it a "data analyzing machine."
  6. The Vs. Recorder doesn't tell you another person's rentals.

Loveはドコ? (talk contribs) 06:30, 24 March 2009 (UTC)

There is no proof it is not a VS Recorder. 2nd point is not valid. He is a Frontier brain not a equipment introducer. He will battle and not talk. Pokétechs are of different colours,Pokédexs are of different colours. The Pokedex design keeps changing , why cant it ? A Vs Recorder is a Data analyzing machine. It can be a new app. And please dont try to add your imaginated devices into it. --Prongs (TalkContributions) 06:37, 24 March 2009 (UTC)

What about deleting that Vs. Recorder bit? It's not a very exciting trivia. --Maxim 07:06, 24 March 2009 (UTC)
What are you talking about? are you stupid? We fought for about a hour? --Prongs (TalkContributions) 07:27, 24 March 2009 (UTC)
Yeah. Who cares what pocket does he hold it in?! Anyway, I think that the pre-battle sprite shows pretty obviously that it's a Vs. Recorder. --Maxim 08:13, 24 March 2009 (UTC)

Random Numbers

When he speaks to you before battle, he gives a random percentage as your chances of beating him, as noted.

I'm beginning to believe that the number isn't so random. It seems like every time I battle him and he says I have a high chance of beating him, I lose, and every time he gives a low percentage, I win. I wonder if the number actually is at least partially measured by how his team matches up to yours. --The Great Butler 06:35, 27 February 2010 (UTC)

Doesn't he only have fully evolved pokémon?

I've taken Thorton on about twenty times now, and every times I've fought him his whole team has been fully evolved. Are we sure that the pokémon his team is picked from include NFE's?--a 06:42, 30 May 2010 (UTC)

I'm assuming you're always doing Open level/ level 100? He can also be battled at level 50, in which case he can definitely have Pokémon that aren't fully evolved. He can have any Pokémon that you can rent. Werdnae (talk) 07:01, 30 May 2010 (UTC)
I've been playing at level 50, personally... I always get fully evolved Pokémon after two rounds through the Battle Factory, so it may just be me. --a 07:08, 30 May 2010 (UTC)
