I have a question.Although the page says that the power items are affected by pokerus, i was ev training not to long ago and the powers didnt give me the evs. Hell, they didnt have any effect at all. I was training my Gallade and fighting bibarels, which give me 4 atk's since i had pokerus on it, and i killed about 4 of them upon level up and should have gotten 48 evs, im=f my calculations are correct. No, not at all. The Pokémon doesn't get the extra stat points all at once, it gets them gradually as it grows, with all of them by level 100. It'll get maybe one extra point per level (but with nothing to compare it to, you'd actually need an exact clone to see). Trust me, your Gallade will have maximum Attack by 100 if its nature is Adamant. TTEchidna 04:31, 10 September 2007 (UTC)

weird, because my friend says that it should get them all at once(apparently his did). Yeah its an adamant gah what a relief i thought my game was screwed up >.<.

I think it depends on the level the training starts at, because I had a lv 28 or so Monferno who was battling bidoof with the power bracer (the attack one) and got 27 more attack when he leveled up, so its probably spread out so if it starts at level one you'll get them slowly, but at higher levels you'll get them in a larger set for a few levels until it evens out Triceratops9 01:01, 21 November 2007 (UTC)

Clarification question...

does the given item completely overwrite the natural EVs that a given pokemon is supposed to supply?

for example; if I have a Power Anklet on my pokemon (promotes speed), and I go fight Chansies (who give HP EVs) which of the following happens?

4 Spd EVs 4 Spd EVs + 2 HP EVs

what about if I kill a Golbat?

4 Spd EVs 4 Spd EVs + 2 Spd EVs

I'm just wondering on this, because if it's the second option, I'll just stick to my macho brace...

I think it does. What I do is just use the Macho Brace and train against Rattata/Raticate/Spearow/Fearow on Route 225 for Speed, though... TTEchidna 22:58, 15 September 2007 (UTC)

Answer

The power items do not overwrite the regular EVs given. So if you have the power anklet and fight a Chansey the Evs given would be 4 Spd EVs (from the anklet) plus 2 HP EVs (from the Chansey) --Trainer-c 08:50, 15 September 2007 (UTC)

Confuzzling Sort of GameFreak Thing.....

So if I gave a Pokemon a Power Bracer, in example, would this mean that no matter which Pokemon I battle, I will always get 4 EV's added along with the EV i got from the Pokemon I battled? So:

• Magikarp is holding a Power bracer. I battle a Bulbasaur.

Correct

You are correct, the Power items at 4 EVs to their chosen stat along with the EVs gained from defeating the Pokémon. So fighting a Bulbasaur while holding the Power Bracer, you would get 4 Attack EV's + 1 Speed EV.

Macho Brace

Does macho brace reduce the in-battle speed? or it makes the pokémon get regular EVs for speed instead of doubled? hfc2X 01:50, 21 May 2008 (UTC)

It reduces the Speed in battle only; I can confirm this after getting Speed increases of 15+ points when trying to raise the stats on my Pokémon for the Battle Tower and for Battle Revolution. Diachronos 16:20, 17 September 2008 (UTC)

Exp. Share + Ev Item

Say pokémon "a" is holding the power lens and pokémon "b" is holding the exp. share, does pokémon "b" gain the +4 Sp.Atk Evs from the power lens when pokémon "a" defeats an opponent? DesiAdame 18:50, 23 June 2008 (UTC)

I've been wondering...

if Pokemon "a" holds, say, a Power Lens, and Pokémon "b" is another pokémon, and both are in your party, what happens if:

• a battles and runs away
• a doesn't battle, but b runs away
• a battles, is switched for b, who then runs away
• a doesn't battle and b defats a pokemon
• a battles, but switches for b, who defeats the foe

This is what happens respectively:

• no Pokémon receive EVs
• no Pokémon receive EVs
• no Pokémon receive EVs
• b gets all EVs, but a doesn't

In the example, a was holding a Power Lens, so it got 2 Sp.Atk EVs that Haunter gives + 4 EVs for the Power Lens for a total of 6 and b got only 2. And yes, I agree this is pretty confusing when you just discover that EVs exist, but if you keep on training, it becomes simple. hfc2X 22:57, 21 October 2008 (UTC)

Speed Reduction

Do the power items simply slow down the wearer like the Macho Brace or Lagging Tail, or does it actually subtract from the stat like the Tomato Berry. If the latter, whats the point of the anklet? Starmie121 16:10 (UTC)

Macho Brace and Rare Candies

If you use a Macho Brace on a pokemon, and you level it up with a rare candy, do you still get the benefits of the Macho Brace? For instance, if you have a dratini and you raise it from level 1 to 2--using a rare candy--do its EVs still get the boost? Or is it battle-experience only?

Its base stats improve, but EVs can only be improved from battling other Pokémon or by using a Carbos, Vitamin, etc.--RexRacer 01:55, 3 March 2009 (UTC)

Effect of Pokérus

Today I was training a Pokérus infected Pokémon while holding the Power Weight and fighting Wooper on Route 212. Since Wooper give 1 HP EV and the Power Weight gives 4, with the addition of Pokérus that comes to 10 HP EVs per battle, if Pokérus doubles the extra EVs from the Power Weight like it says here. After counting up 255 I went over to Sunyshore to pick up the Effort Ribbon, just to be sure, (I'd already gotten all the other EVs I needed, using the Macho Brace), but she didn't give me the ribbon. I figured maybe I had just miscounted but after a few more battles, she still wouldn't hand it over. Finally I decided to count up the EVs by feeding it Pomeg Berries (reduce EVs by 10), and it only ate 12 of them. So I was off by 111-120 points, which is more like what you'd expect if the Power Weight just gave a flat 4 EVs not affected by the Pokérus at all. Can anyone contend this or should I just change it? Update: Using the Power Weight still, I've counted up an additional 164 assumed EVs and the lady still won't give me the Effort Ribbon, which makes me wonder if the Power Weight does override the Pokémon's natural EV bonus after all. Dragoness 19:47, 13 July 2009 (UTC)

Effect on IV passing

In recently I have find a unconfirmed(?) special information, from HGSS,as one of the parents when put in the day care while holding a Power item, their specific IV will pass down to the egg. (for example, if a Sneasel who has 31 Attack IV, while in Day Care it held Power Bracer, the egg will result in 31 Attack IV) Can anyone could test about it? If it is true, if both parents held the item as in Day Care, will both parents specific IV will pass down? Also if both parents hold the same power item, which one will choose?(Since I didn't have HGSS).chungkingpun 06:03, 11 October 2009 (UTC)

Embargo?

This has happened to me many times while training on route 226. I have a Macho Brace equipped, and then encounter a wild bannette. It uses embargo on me. I know my speed obviously has returned to normal, but what about EVs earned from the battle. Are they still doubled?Morgil27 06:03, 17 November 2009 (UTC)

If Embargo is still in effect by the end of the battle, then no. Embargo negates all effects of an item. R.A. Hunter Blade 13:12, 17 November 2009 (UTC)

Breeding Question

This page is the only place I've found mention of a 50% chance to pass down IV's for the stat that a Power item affects, including the Pokemon Breeding page. I have seen mention of a 50% chance to pass the IV along if both parents have Power items. Thus, I am wondering if the 50% chance is confirmed. Ronin316 03:12, 7 July 2010 (UTC)

This article is incorrect. Apparently what actually happens is that if only one parent holds a power item, that parent's relevant IV will be passed down 100% of the time. If each parent holds a power item, either of the parents' relevant IVs will be passed down, but never both at the same time. Ultraflame 02:49, 8 July 2010 (UTC)

I'm confused?

The article says "Promotes HP gain on level up, but halves Speed stat in battle. Adds 4 HP EVs after each battle, regardless of the Pokémon fought", so do I get the EVs on level up, or after the battle? Miscs 10:58, 10 December 2010 (UTC)

Making sure...

I have a level 11 Panpour whose Sp. Atk I want to maximize. But I also want to max her Attack. So, she's defeating Pokémon like Lillipup and Patrat while holding the Power Lens.
