Name meaning

Diantha's English, French, and Spanish names refer to the dianthus, more commonly known as the carnation or pink. Her Japanese name seems to be an intentional misspelling of "carnation" (カーネーション), with "carna-" becoming カルネ. Arpha (talk) 20:09, 13 September 2013 (UTC)

Key Stone

Diantha has a Key Stone embedded in her necklace, like how male XY protagonist and female XY protagonist have one embedded in their Mega Rings. herefore she is a Mega Man. Can this be added to the article or is it speculation right now? --The Truth aka Relicant 11:35, 14 September 2013 (UTC)

Resemblance

Diantha seems to bear a fairly decent resemblance to French actress Audrey Tautou (others elsewhere see some of Audrey Hepburn) and both of course share the same profession. Too much of a stretch to add somewhere or best kept out of the page? Chicobo329 (talk) 23:28, 4 January 2014 (UTC)

I might of said yes if I didn't check the articles, but I would say that there should be a bit more discussion on adding Audrey Tautou since there are three points of similarity. --Super goku (talk) 03:29, 5 January 2014 (UTC)
Doesn't Ken Sugimori have a Twitter account? Why doesn't somebody ask him? Glik (talk) 03:43, 5 January 2014 (UTC)
She is exactly like Audrey Hepburn to me, too similar to be a coincidence. Someone who knows Japanese should ask Sugimori via Twitter. Wasn't that how he finally confirmed Brendan has a hat, and not white hair? - Taylor (talk) 13:19, 8 January 2014 (UTC)

Higher resolution picture

I found the same Diantha picture featured in this article, but in a much higher resolution. Would it be OK if I replace the current one with this one? [1]

I think it would be a good idea because in this one you can actually appreciate the Key Stone in Diantha's Mega Necklace.Karasuhebi (talk) 22:14, 9 March 2014 (UTC)

It's pretty much exactly the same as the artwork that's on site. It has to be smaller on this page to fit the info box. --It's Funktastic~!話してください 22:21, 9 March 2014 (UTC)
Sorry but I don't understand what you meant by "It has to be smaller on this page to fit the info box". Maybe my intention wasn't clear. I mean to leave the thumbnail that we see in the infobox the same size, but I want to replace the actual image with the one linked above, since it's the same one, just in a way higher resolution. Sorry if I confused things, I didn't mean to. :-\Karasuhebi (talk) 22:24, 9 March 2014 (UTC)
She understood; she's saying the file we have is already of the same quality as yours, it's just that shrinking it down for the infobox makes it appear lower resolution. glikglak 22:59, 9 March 2014 (UTC)
It's not though, the one I found is 1715x2590 and the one you guys have is 781x1280. Unless I'm missing something? Karasuhebi (talk) 23:01, 9 March 2014 (UTC)
You'd have to cut down your file size to upload it (files generally shouldn't exceed 1280x1280). After that, there's not going to be any discernible difference. Especially if it's shrunk even further to fit the infobox. glikglak 23:18, 9 March 2014 (UTC)
I see, I see. Now that you mention the 1280x1280 guideline I understand, they _would_ be pretty much identical. Thanks for the clarification! Karasuhebi (talk) 23:36, 9 March 2014 (UTC)

Relation to Diancie

I can't help but notice remarkable similarities between Diantha and the Pokémon Diancie. Aside from the name, they both wear a white dress of a similar style. Perhaps this is a coincidence. Though it seems unlikely to occur within the same game by accident... PlatinumAltaria (talk) 10:07, 15 April 2014 (UTC)

While they may bear similarities to each other, adding anything about a potential relationship would be speculation, which we try to avoid in articles. --Pokemaster97 18:34, 15 April 2014 (UTC)
Due to the Japanese name of Diancie being, well, Diancie, and the Japanese name of Diantha being Carnet, it's highly unlikely. Pikachu Bros. (talk) 18:36, 15 April 2014 (UTC)
I also noticed this, and tried discussing it on the talk page, but... well, it was removed due to the ultimately speculative nature of the issue. I have to point out, though, that the similarities go further than the dress: The outline of the braid that wraps around Diantha's head traces the same shape as the second row of cuts in the gemstone on Diancie's forehead. Additionally, they reuse what appear to be the same shades of gold, pink (on Diantha's handbag) and gray (Diantha's eyes). I feel this is more than enough to conclude that this is an intentional design reference. Even if we can't say why they did it -- for all we know, they might have just liked the way Diancie looked -- is the visual connection solid enough to make note of it in the Trivia section of one or both articles? --Pie ~ 22:45, 15 April 2014 (UTC)
Almost forgot -- her Japanese name may not be as similar, but Carnet does have a striking similarity to the word garnet, another gemstone. She does have the two rock-types on her team already. If a connection to Diancie is ever confirmed, can we then start assuming the gem puns are intentional, or is this simply too speculative, even compared to most trivia about names? --Pie ~ 15:50, 17 April 2014 (UTC)
