Missingno.

I'm not quite sure in Deoxys is supposed to be based of Missingno. or not. Even my Jirachi-is based-off-the-Beanstar theory manages to mak more sense then that.--Pokencyclopedia 13:33, 6 September 2005 (CDT)

Oh, puh-leeze. Deoxys is not based off Missingno. I should know, I'm the self-proclaimed expert on Deoxys. (the key word there being self-proclaimed.) -- PinkDeoxys 15:34, 8 January 2006 (CST)
Not that I added it to the article, but I do somewhat agree that it shares a few traits... the call, kind of... It's like Hypno sounds like Jynx when sped up, only Deoxys you have to play backwards and sped up to make it sound like Missingno.. And the southern island thing. But I dunno, mostly it's just fan speculation unless we go and ask the designers ourselves. Not that I'd imagine they forgot about Missingno. entirely. Tom Temprotran 06:30, 1 October 2006 (UTC)

Location

How do you obtain Deoxys? Where is it? Also, how do you obtain Jirachi or Mew?

Deoxys requires the ticket(forgot the name). On an island. Jirachi is the Colo bonus disk. Mew requires the old sea chart.
The ticket is called the Aurora Ticket. It was given out at Pokémon Rocks America 2004. -- PinkDeoxys 15:30, 8 January 2006 (CST)

IMO, I think Deoxys is based on it's namesake, DNA. or else viruses, with are just coated proteins like DNA.

Deoxys is based off Deoxyriboneucleic (did I spell that right?) acid, or DNA. Its forms, Defense, Normal, and Attack, form the word DNA. The S in Speed is the last letter of its name. -- PinkDeoxys 15:30, 8 January 2006 (CST)

Transfer from Wikipedia

(Just like the exodus of german scientists to America during World War II!) Since the Wikipedia pokemon articles are in danger of being deleted, I made it my duty to add the info to the Bulbapedia articles from Wikipedia, starting with this one!!! MudkipNDS 19:25, 19 July 2007 (UTC)mkds

No worries, you don't have to be so frantic. The old pages are just being redirected; you'll always be able to find old versions of the page through the "history" tab at the top of the page.--Loveはドコ? (talk contribs) 19:28, 19 July 2007 (UTC)

Eggs

It says "no eggs" for the egg group yet specifies a number of steps to hatch. Huh?--SomeoneIKnew 20:06, 24 August 2007 (UTC)

While it is impossible for a Deoxys egg to exist, every species was given a number of steps to hatch; this information was found through hacking probably. In most cases, impossible eggs are given a ludicrous number of steps anyway.--Loveはドコ? (talk contribs) 21:13, 24 August 2007 (UTC)
It's not impossible to have it, you just have to hack it. But yes, the hatching steps do come from game data. TTEchidna 04:15, 25 August 2007 (UTC)

D/P Back sprite

Is it just me or that back sprite looks a little... glitchy? Cause it isn't usual to have a brightly colored outline and then darker colors and shading, but meh. :P TinaTheKirlia File:Ani281MS.gif 16:57, 23 October 2007 (UTC)

Looks as if it was cropped out of a move picture, with a move that slightly changed the area around it. --DarkfireTaimatsu 18:29, 23 October 2007 (UTC)
It was taken from the original sprite rip which for some reason had this issue for all the Pokémon with form differences. I've fixed it now. --FabuVinny |Talk Page| 18:54, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

Possible Error?

My Deoxys is in Attack Form, hit Level 33, and learned Pursuit. The movelist says it should have learned Spikes (which I wanted). Is the movelist wrong? Inker 07:41, 28 October 2007 (UTC)

You sure it's in Attack form? The other three learn it at 33, so you might be mistaking the form. TTEchidna 08:14, 28 October 2007 (UTC)
That was indeed an error, and has now been corrected. For the record, this also applies to Taunt, which is Defense Deoxys' exclusive move, rather than Attack Deoxys' (it learns Knock Off along with the other two).
Whoever got the movelist wrong must have done so because he expected the three non-Normal forms to each have four exclusive moves. In truth, Attack Deoxys has two such moves (Superpower and Zap Cannon), Defense Deoxys - six (Spikes, Taunt, Iron Defense, Amnesia, Counter and Mirror Coat), and Speed Deoxys - four (Double Team, Swift, Agility and ExtremeSpeed). --Unown Lord 16:21, 27 November 2007 (UTC)

Shiny Artwork

I just uploaded the shiny artwork for Deoxys, but I'm stuck for placs to put it. File:ShinyDeoxys.png 486TESH377TALK378FUN379 21:53, 13 January 2008 (UTC)

..he made shiny Deoxys artwork? ..interesting. :0 Tina δ 21:54, 13 January 2008 (UTC)

I've actually found all of the shiny artwork... 486TESH377TALK378FUN379 21:56, 13 January 2008 (UTC)

Ooo.. link please? Tina δ 21:57, 13 January 2008 (UTC)

Hmm... It's basically just another Pokémon site. Oh and just to let you know it's in french. Pokebip 486TESH377TALK378FUN379 22:00, 13 January 2008 (UTC)

Ok... I told a white lie... No all of the Shiny Artwork, but some. XD 486TESH377TALK378FUN379 22:08, 13 January 2008 (UTC)

Lol. Seems like it's just recolored in Photoshop or something though, but it's cool to look at :0 Tina δ 22:18, 13 January 2008 (UTC)

I like how they have the sprite image halfway through the animation. 486TESH377TALK378FUN379 22:21, 13 January 2008 (UTC)

Umm that Shiny art orginally came from Poke Beach. --File:Ani048MS.gifケンジFile:Ani183MS.gifガールFile:Ani123MS.gif 22:35, 13 January 2008 (UTC)
They're all just shooped. No need for shiny Sugimori art of all of these things. The normal art and shiny sprites suffice. TTEchidnaFire echyGSDS! 03:28, 14 January 2008 (UTC)

Youtube Fake video

I've seen a youtube video that shows a trainer catching it in pokemon ruby [1] this video is obviously fake, cause it's a pokemon FireRed hack and the battle script is the same as Ho-oh, but the video ends just as the battle begins. This guy has tricked so many people to do what they see in the video.

should be added info on this? Hfc2x 16:50, 5 March 2008 (UTC)

There's no need to add information on every fan-made video posted, let alone this one in particular. There are tons of videos just like this on YouTube alone. // SzayelAporroGranzFile:Ani282MS.gif 19:21, 5 March 2008 (UTC)

Deoxys' hand?

Why does Deoxys have a hand in his sprite, but in his artowrk he just has tentacles? Buddy Christ 03:03, 26 April 2008 (UTC)

Ask Game Freak. うずまき 17:21, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
It's been assumed that Deoxys can willfully form its tentacles into a hand.--Loveはドコ? (talk contribs) 04:56, 29 April 2008 (UTC)
Pokémon Ranger confirms this. --FabuVinny |Talk Page| 19:10, 14 May 2008 (UTC)

Aeroblast?

I'm not sure deoxys can legitimately get areoblast even from an event I'm pretty sure thats just a rumor User:ShinyMedicham

Gamestop Event

Look at this should this be added under events?--CoolPikachu! 20:04, 7 June 2008 (UTC) 20080607_deoxys-event_usa-4.jpg

Yes, it's even on Bulbanews. It should get a mention here.BlueJirachiWishMaker 15:50, 9 June 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, a very cheap one =]Emperor's Cookies 16:24, 9 June 2008 (UTC)

I wonder if you'll still be able to obtain one even if you have a Deoxys transfered over from Gen III... ~$aturn¥oshi THE VOICES 16:18, 9 June 2008 (UTC)
Since, more or less it will be a Wonder Card, yes. tc26 16:25, 9 June 2008 (UTC)

Someone put in the article that this Deoxys doen's obey its trainer. Maybe Gamestop goofed and forgot to set the flag required for their official Deoxys to obey. Or maybe that guy doesn't have the required badge... hfc2X 02:39, 21 June 2008 (UTC)

I found out today that the National Pokedex is a requirement for this event, in order for the wireless transfer to commence. Kinda wish there were more accurate details on Bulbanews beforehand. -Tyler53841 04:03, 21 June 2008 (UTC)

Uh, yeah, it's a national Pokémon...and, uh, no offense but did you just get the game or something? It's been out a good year by now...--Loveはドコ? (talk contribs) 04:40, 21 June 2008 (UTC)
Don't be so rude! The guy is new at Pokémon, like most of us have been... and I also just got Pokémon Pearl, but I have played Pokémon for a long time now (8 years =D) hfc2X 06:30, 21 June 2008 (UTC)
Dang, really? Well. All I can say is, Tyler, if you want that Deoxys there's still next weekend. ...that'll be one hell of a busy week.--Loveはドコ? (talk contribs) 16:09, 21 June 2008 (UTC)

I just got my Deoxys yesterday at Gamestop, so I will give you all the run-down on it's stats:

Name: Deoxys

Lv: 50

Pokédex No.: ???

Type: Psychic

OT: Gamestp

ID No.: 06218

Ball: Cherish

Item: NeverMeltIce

Naive nature.

Pokémon Event

Apparantly had a fateful encounter at

Lv. 50

Somewhat vain.

Likes sweet food.

HP: 120/120

Attack: 155

Defense: 57

Sp. Atk: 163

Sp. Def: 61

Speed: 171

Ability: Pressure

Attacks:

Psycho Boost (PP 5/5)

Zap Cannon (PP 5/5)

Iron Defense (PP 15/15)

ExtremeSpeed (PP 5/5)

And all I needed was the Pokédex, so my second Pokémon (after Turtwig) was this Deoxys, thanks to the "Mystery from Space" Event. I picked it up at Sandgem Town WITHOUT the National Pokédex. Of course, it won't listen to me 19 times out of 20, but that's just because I only have one badge. Lord Thunderboom 18:50, 21 June 2008 (UTC)

Forme spelling

Originally, all of Deoxys's different "formes" were thought to be spelled as "form." However, after Giratina's Origin Forme was revealed, fans went back to check Pokémon.com, and the Official Emerald Players guide (published in 2005) to find that "forme" has in fact always been the official spelling"
What exactly does the Player's Guide say? If it's just a random appearance of the word, then my suggestion is revert everything to "Form" until either word appears capitalized in a game, just like "Form" (and never "Forme") appears in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon and Pokémon Ranger. IMO, a Player's Guide or news coverings can't be trusted more than the released games themselves. To be fair, the Prima guides also spell it "forme", but still, it's just paper. Super Smash Bros. Brawl spells it "forme", too, but without a capital "F". --Johans 18:01, 23 June 2008 (UTC)

So let me get this right - Prima, a player's guide, the official Pokédex website AND Super Smash Bros. Brawl use "forme" and you still think that the official terminology is "form"? It clearly isn't. Cipher 18:11, 23 June 2008 (UTC)
My point was that Pokémon Ranger and Pokémon Mystery Dungeon spell them "Form", with a capital "F", in the text of the game. They are Pokémon games, more mainstream than any Super Smash Bros. game will ever be, and more digital than any guide will ever be. Bulbapedia is intended to be leaned a bit more toward in-game data from what I know. I remember Zhen Lin telling me to fix the "Electric Squirrel" words and place Pachirisu's species name as "EleSquirrel" for example.
Politoed666, I don't get why my change was reverted specifically here. The current table about Mystery Dungeon is using the in-game spelling, so I was doing the same, in the Pokémon Ranger side game data section, with the names of the Deoxys "formes" (if you wish, outside of the context) as they appear in Pokémon Ranger as mentioned by Solana and Spencer. --Johans 19:38, 23 June 2008 (UTC)
This is a page from Nintendo's Pokémon Emerald Players guide. [2]
As you can see from the image above, it is not an error, forme is the proper spelling. Trainer-c 18:53, 23 June 2008 (UTC)
Thanks. I hope in the future everybody takes into account the dates in which different spellings appear, though (I suppose that's 2005). --Johans 19:38, 23 June 2008 (UTC)
Woah, BIG image. Link amended. Cipher 20:13, 23 June 2008 (UTC)
Thanks. I hope in the future everybody takes into account the dates in which different spellings appear, though (I suppose that's 2005).

Yup. The guide is from May of 2005 when Emerald was released. And further proof that forme is the proper spelling has shown up in the Deoxys event info at the Pokémon website today. Trainer-c 20:50, 23 June 2008 (UTC)

Ok, I appreciate you ^_^. We should archive the link for future non-believers: http://www.pokemon.com/#news_/XML/news_265.xml --Johans 21:38, 23 June 2008 (UTC)

Changing Problem

How Do we change the Move list?I've found that you can't put a small specific word(such as FR) to that specific forme moves(for the example word must be FRLG) also I checked many website found that Taunt is a Attack Forme only move.--(since English is not my mother language...there may be have grammer mistake) --chungkingpunノ14:24, 28 June 2008 (UTC)

Uh oh, youre right =) hfc2X 02:40, 28 June 2008 (UTC)
That's easy. I set it up for Deoxys's formes. Instead of FR/LG/E/RS, just put the form of the Pokémon. Attack Deoxys learns a move, put Attack. TTEchidna 05:41, 28 June 2008 (UTC)
Thanks, should the move list like now??--chungkingpunノ12:07, 28 June 2008 (UTC)

Art in the infobox

I know with Deoxys we do the "standard forme" thing... but we have Wormadam with all three of her coats, same with Burmy, and Shellos and Gastrodon in both West and East Sea variations. I know that's how the Sugimori art came, but why the heck not combine the images into one, then put it in the infobox? TTEchidna 17:42, 10 July 2008 (UTC)

Well? TTEchidna 02:56, 22 July 2008 (UTC)
I'm all for combining them, but wouldn't that make the images a tad small? ~$aturn¥oshi THE VOICES 15:09, 22 July 2008 (UTC)
No need to force the image to be small... It could be high-res and clickable. TTEchidna 23:37, 4 August 2008 (UTC)

GenIII Backsprites

I always thought we could have the sprites cycle through the ones available in each game like the Arceus sprite does on it's page (the GenIII backsprites being a good example). We could even do this for all multi-formed Pokémon - unsigned comment from MisterE13 (talkcontribs)

For Arceus it is ok, 'cause it has many forms in the same game, but it's not the case for Deoxys (as in Gen III has different forms for different games), so all of them must be shown at the same time.
And another thing... if you want to start a new section on a Talk Page, click on the + at the top and sign your user name with ~~~~. hfc2X 18:50, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
Thanks, I forgot. I just meant instead of cramming all four backsprites into sections of the box, it could cycle the way the Arceus sprite near the top of the page does. I was also thinking that we could do that for the GenIV ones because you can get all 4. We could also do it with Castform, Cherrim, Arceus, Unown, Burmy, Wormadam, Giratina, Shaymin, Rotom... The sprites could even cycle whenever the moving (Emerald + GenIV) sprites animation finishes.MisterE13 19:08, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
By the way, I meant this one

File:Avatar12014 5.gifMisterE13 19:17, 26 October 2008 (UTC)

That would be an epic pain. Plus, the only way to do that would be to change the nice, crisp pngs into crappy 256-color gifs, so everyone could see them. And that's a definite no. Anipngs would be for the animation of the sprites, not for showing all of them. The way we've got it is just fine, as far as I'm concerned, since you can click the images anyway to get to the fullsize versions. And we're not doing one of those stupid gifs for everyone. TTEchidna 19:23, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
